    Caleb’s POV

It’s already morning when my father finally gets the go–ahead to enter pack territory and dig into the Lunar Coven. We waste no time. Everyone piles into the cars, and soon enough, we’re on the road, heading for Somerset, Maine. I can feel the tension in the air, the unease gnawing at me. Caroline’s with us, and to no one’s surprise, Damien is too, apanied by a few of his guards.

The two–hour ride feels like it drags on forever. I can tell everyone’s frustration, particrly with how Caroline’s managing to keep herself so calm–probably because she was trying to focus on finding Aurora. But I wasn’t so sure she could find her. Even my mating bond was silent, and it made me even more worried as the seconds ticked by.

When we finally reach the Forest Dancers pack’s borders, the tension only builds. The forest surrounding the pack is dense, eerie, and there’s a strange quiet to it. I can’t shake the feeling that something’s watching us. As we get closer, my father, Alpha Camden, taps his fingers against the steering wheel, looking out the window. He’s trying to hide it, but I can tell he’s uneasy, too. It’s been a long time since he’s had to do something like this–work with an unknown pack.

We pull up, and Alpha Jackson is waiting for us, his arms crossed. He doesn’t look surprised to see three cars full of people, but there’s something about his posture–something guarded. It’s like he’s expecting something to happen at any moment.

“You made it,” Jackson says, his voice low, like he’s been holding it together since the night before. “I’ve been waiting for your call sincest night, Camden, but then the storm hit andmunications went down. We had no way of getting in touch with anyone. Thought you’d be stuck on the road.”

My father steps out of the car first, his voice calm butced with that same edge of concern. “The storm did its damage, Jackson. We’re lucky to be here at all. But we need answers. We came for the Lunar Coven.”

Jackson nods but doesn’t say anything right away. There’s a silence that stretches between us, thick with expectation. It feels like the weight of the world is on us right now, like every word spoken from this point on is going to matter more than anything that came before.

“We need to move quickly,” I added, breaking the silence. “The longer we wait, the more chances they have to slip away.”

Jackson eyes me for a brief second before turning back to my father. “You’ll have your answers, Camden. But you need to be ready for what you’ll find.” His words hang in the air, the warning clear.

I look at my father, then to the others–Caroline staring off into the trees, Damien is next to her, his hand subtly resting on her waist. We’re all on edge, no one saying much, but it’s clear we all know what’s at stake. The Lunar Coven…something must have happened and that’s probably what’s gotten everyone one edge. But each second that we wasted here made it feel like time was ticking away for something unsettling to happen.

bI /bstood in front of Alpha Jackson, my chest tight with worry. I had to find her. “Alpha Jackson, my mate…

    14:11 Sat, 30 Aug O

she’s been abducted,” I said, my voice barely steady. “I think it’s the Lunar Coven. They’ve taken her.”

He looked at me, his brow furrowing, and for a split second, I saw something in his eyes I hadn’t expected -fear. He quickly masked it, but the tension was unmistakable. “Caleb,” he said slowly, “I need to know more. Why do you think it’s the Lunar Coven?”
