Cold War between Mr. and Mrs Vaughn: He Regretted when Divorce
Chapter 36: Eugene Vaughn Comforts Her with a Hug
CHAPTER 36: CHAPTER 36: EUGENE VAUGHN COMFORTS HER WITH A HUG
Timothy Sinclair’s eyes were bloodshot as he fiercely stared at Molly, gritting his teeth to suppress his rage. His clenched fists were trembling, and when he could no longer endure, he smashed them against the floor twice, his knuckles starting to bleed.
Victoria Sinclair watched, her heart wrenching with pain. Tears blurred her vision, but with her sister-in-law present, she didn’t dare to intervene in her brother’s self-destructive behavior.
Molly clenched her back teeth, seething with anger, and watched indifferently as Timothy Sinclair raged.
Eugene Vaughn and the police rushed over simultaneously, grabbing Timothy Sinclair’s arm and helping him up from the floor.
"You can earn money back, but don’t harm yourself," the policeman consoled.
Eugene Vaughn said nothing and gently embraced Timothy Sinclair’s shoulder, softly patting him.
Timothy Sinclair finally found a shoulder to lean on, like a wounded child, silently sobbing on Eugene’s shoulder.
He was so distressed, so exhausted!
For an average family, the usual income just covers the family expenses. After scrimping and saving for ten or even eight years, they could only save a few hundred thousand. Paying off two million might not be possible for a lifetime!
His son was about to start elementary school, and their days were going to be even tougher.
Molly twisted her mouth, glaring fiercely at Victoria Sinclair, her arms crossed, with her arrogance still rising.
The police packed up their things, gently patted Timothy Sinclair’s shoulder, then went to console Mr. and Mrs. Sinclair, and left helplessly.
Mr. Sinclair gave a heart pill to Mrs. Sinclair to take, then helped her to the bedroom to rest, comforting her, "We’re old, we should eat and drink as we wish. We can’t rely on Timothy anymore, but don’t we still have Victoria? Let Timothy and his wife pay back the money slowly, let’s worry less."
The time was now one in the morning.
After Timothy Sinclair’s emotions stabilized, he sat in a single armchair, slumped back, exhausted.
Victoria Sinclair and Eugene Vaughn sat on the neighboring sofa, quietly accompanying him.
Molly sat alone on a dining chair, continuously pressing on the investment platform on her phone, her expression extremely unpleasant.
"Sister, brother-in-law, I’m fine, it’s very late, you should go back," Timothy Sinclair’s voice was weak.
Victoria slowly walked over to Timothy Sinclair, knelt down, and touched his rough hand.
Molly once again rolled her eyes, glaring fiercely at Victoria Sinclair.
Victoria pulled out a bank card from her bag and placed it in Timothy Sinclair’s hand, "Brother, I still have a few thousand here, take it for emergency use. I’ll find a way to cover the rest of the debt for you."
Timothy Sinclair immediately sat up straight and pushed the bank card back into Victoria’s hand, "Sister, I can’t take your money anymore, our debt is ours to repay."
"Brother, how can you pay back so much money alone? Let me help you."
Timothy Sinclair shook his head, his tone firm, "I won’t take another penny from you."
Molly suddenly rushed over, snatching the bank card, her voice sharp and sarcastic, "She’s willing to give it, why not take it? We owe nearly two million, and the daily interest is a big number. Why are you acting so high and mighty?"
Infuriated, Timothy Sinclair’s eyes turned red, he snatched the card back from Molly’s hand and pushed it back to Victoria, "If you give me another penny, I’ll jump from here. If I, Timothy Sinclair, have to rely on my sister for a lifetime, where is my dignity in this world?"
Victoria was so frightened that her legs went weak, tears brimmed in her eyes, and she choked, "Brother, don’t say that, I’m your sister by blood. Aren’t siblings supposed to support and help each other?"
Timothy Sinclair looked at Victoria’s small face with heartache, guilt-ridden, "Brother owes you too much, I can’t take your money anymore. You were the one who invested in our fruit shop with your money, and this house was bought by you outright for our family to live in, even the property deed bears my and our parents’ names. You didn’t even add your own name. Even the wedding dowry was paid by you!"
Timothy Sinclair covered his face and painfully tilted his head back for a deep breath.
Victoria lowered her head in sorrow, on the verge of tears.
Unable to bear it, Molly gritted her teeth, viciously cursing, "Victoria always owed you, why are you being so pretentious? Your parents often said, if you hadn’t quit school early to work just to support her education, would you be earning money now? You’re so incapable today because of her. If it weren’t for you, she wouldn’t have her achievements today, she owes you a debt she can’t repay in her lifetime."
Timothy Sinclair’s veins bulged in anger, glaring at Molly, he growled, "My sister paid her tuition with her scholarship. She was outstanding in our village middle school and was scouted by the country’s best high school. She was given a recommendation to Sterling; that’s why I came with her to work, she received scholarships in college too."
Molly put her hands on her hips, "You’re the most selfless, you’re her angel brother, huh? You earn only three thousand a month, and you had to give her two thousand for living expenses. Your parents said so, and you still want to deny it."
Timothy Sinclair stomped his feet in anger, punched the air with his fists, and with red, indignant eyes said, "What my sister owed me, she’s already repaid. She’s married, why do you all keep sucking her blood like vampires?"
Molly pointed at Victoria, "She’s the vampire, she drained her own brother’s future dry, resulting in you dropping out of middle school. You’re basically a primary school graduate, nothing more. If not for her, you’d be the one accepted into Sterling, and the one running a company making big money."
Overwhelmed with anger, Timothy Sinclair burst out, "I damn well didn’t study because I had poor grades, it has nothing to do with my sister. If I’d had a bit more skill, a bit more talent, I would never have married you."
Molly’s face turned black with rage, her whole body trembling, she pointed fiercely at Timothy Sinclair’s nose, her gaze turning vicious; for the first time, a tear appeared in her eyes as she yelled, "Say that again if you dare."
For the sake of his son, Timothy Sinclair dared not speak again, stifling his frustration.
Victoria quietly wiped her tears away, took a deep breath, "Brother, sister-in-law, we’re leaving now."
With that, she turned and walked away.
She knew that no matter what she said, it would only fuel the endless argument between her brother and sister-in-law. Only if she did nothing and left quietly, would the quarrel calm down.
Eugene Vaughn gently patted Timothy Sinclair’s shoulder, "Brother, rest early. Let’s get in touch when you have time."
Timothy Sinclair’s fury immediately subsided, his tone softened a bit, "Okay, drive safely, don’t worry about us, we will be fine."
Eugene nodded and left with Victoria.
At the moment the door closed, Molly’s cursing could still be heard.
Victoria stood at the door for a long, long time, her eyes red!
She listened to Molly scolding her brother for being worthless, but her brother remained silent.
Molly continued to scold for at least ten minutes; during this time, she heard nothing from her brother until Molly tired out and the scolding finally ceased. Tears continued to roll in her eyes.
It finally grew quiet inside.
She slowly closed her eyes, and crystalline tears slid slowly down her face like two clear little pearls, rolling across her fair cheeks, dripping onto her chin.
Immersed in her sadness, she failed to notice Eugene standing beside her.
Eugene watched her quietly, waiting for her.
Victoria took a deep breath and gently wiped away the cold droplets from her cheeks. Suddenly, a strong arm pulled her into a solid, warm chest.
Her body stiffened, and she quickly opened her eyes.
In her view was the color of Eugene’s clothes, and the pleasant scent unique to a man filled her breathing space. Though the hoodie wasn’t thin, his warmth was intense and enveloping her.
Her heart pounded like a deer, and every cell in her body trembled. Her face flushed, her ears burned, her entire body went limp.
Her heart heavy with sadness, her thoughts troubled, everything vanished at that moment, her mind went blank, and she even forgot how to react.
