Cold War between Mr. and Mrs Vaughn: He Regretted when Divorce
Chapter 50: He Refuses to Divorce No Matter What
CHAPTER 50: CHAPTER 50: HE REFUSES TO DIVORCE NO MATTER WHAT
Eugene Vaughn’s gaze darkened, and he turned his back to her, his tone colder, "Victoria Sinclair, stop making a fuss, it’s pointless."
"I’m not making a fuss, I’m serious."
"Renee has already cancelled the contract, there will be no further collaboration."
Victoria Sinclair slowly clenched her fists, feeling utterly exhausted, "It’s not about Renee."
Renee was just the last straw that broke the camel’s back.
Today it’s Renee, tomorrow it might be some other woman.
There were always different types of worthless flings around him, and then there was Vivian Miller, his female buddy who constantly irritated her.
She was really fed up!
If he couldn’t give her the security she wanted, with neither sex nor love, she might as well enjoy the comfort and freedom of being single.
Although letting go of her first love would be painful, enduring it would pass with time, gradually fading and forgotten.
Eugene stood up, turned to face her, his hands in his pockets, his expression somber, "Tell me the reason, and I will change."
Victoria softly sighed, "You don’t need to change, it’s not your problem."
Love isn’t a habit, it can’t be changed just like that.
"Then don’t talk about divorce anymore." His tone was firm, carrying a hint of anger.
Victoria was so angry that she clenched her fist hard, slightly biting her lower lip to hold back.
Too much, too domineering!
Marriage is about two people, why couldn’t he respect her choice?
He didn’t love her, didn’t touch her, and yet refused to divorce.
What kind of man is this?
Well, it’s not that there aren’t any.
Men who cheat in marriage do things like this.
Victoria gathered her courage and carefully asked, "Eugene, do you like men?"
Eugene frowned, a fleeting trace of surprise in his eyes, seeming to understand her doubt, "My sexual orientation isn’t a problem."
"Then you..." Victoria hesitated, every time she brought up this topic, her ears burned, heart raced, embarrassed beyond words.
Although she was already 26, not really at an innocent age, she hadn’t tried anything, hadn’t even kissed, and discussing such matters easily made her shy.
Eugene approached her, "Let’s shower together, and then go to bed."
Victoria was always reserved.
Eugene’s words made her CPU overheat, her face suddenly flushed, feeling like a little shrimp cooked through, heart pounding wildly, embarrassed to the point of madness. When he approached, she retreated nervously, body trembling, her voice and breath were all in a mess, "Eugene, are you crazy? I... I don’t want to shower with you, don’t want to... go to bed with you."
After saying that, Victoria fled nervously to her room, quickly shutting the door and locking it.
She leaned against the door, covering her burning face, feeling both hot and embarrassed, utterly speechless!
Outside, Eugene was just as heated.
He walked to the balcony, leaning with one hand on the window ledge, bowing his head, taking a deep breath.
After a moment’s thought, he went back to Victoria’s door.
Knocked on the door.
Startling Victoria, who turned nervously to support the door, "Eugene, I said no."
She hoped for joy that flowed naturally from heartfelt affection, not straightforward and brutally unleashed desire.
Skipping over the details of holding hands, hugging, and kissing, going straight to showering and going to bed.
That was simply asking for her life!
Then, Eugene’s voice came from outside the door.
"Victoria Sinclair, mentioning divorce again implies you want to go to bed with me. Next time, there’s no place you can hide."
Victoria was dumbfounded!
Speechless and shocked, unable to utter a word.
She vaguely heard the sound of a door closing next door, and only then did she breathe a sigh of relief, covering her hot cheeks, going to get clothes and take a shower.
Clearly, she had already decided to divorce Eugene.
She didn’t expect Eugene’s reaction to be so strong, refusing the divorce surprised her, leaving her puzzled too.
She prided herself on not being stupid, with decent logical thinking, yet she couldn’t fathom Eugene’s thoughts, not understanding what was on his mind?
In the shower, standing under the warm water, in the cozy and heated space, the steam enveloped her in a hazy mist, the comfortably warm water streaming down from her head, she closed her eyes to enjoy it.
In that instant, her mind was filled with Eugene, her body feeling oddly vacant.
His words were too tantalizing.
Lingering and powerful.
The more she washed, the hotter she felt, so she had no choice but to adjust the water temperature to the lowest, aiming to clear her head.
After showering, Victoria dried her hair, donned a casual outfit for going out, took her bag, and left the room.
Eugene was no longer outside in the living room.
She put down her bag and sat at the dining table.
In her spot was a bowl of tomato and egg noodles.
There were two eggs, the noodles were already soft, warm but not cold, quite delicious.
His cooking skills had improved.
Victoria finished the noodles, washed the dishes, and took her bag to go to work.
She didn’t dare bring up going to the civil affairs bureau lately, afraid he’d have a tantrum.
At noon,
Victoria returned to the company, which happened to be salary day.
Upon receiving her salary, she called her brother while he was at work.
Timothy Sinclair answered with good spirits, "Sis, not busy today? What brings you to call me?"
"Not too busy. Tim, I just got paid, I want to help pay off some of your bank loans."
"No need, sis, I won’t take your money."
"Tim, interest gets deducted from credit and online loans, I’ll pay what I can, when you make money in the future, you can pay me back then."
"Sis, really no need, I’ll be able to pay off my debts soon."
"Two million, how can it possibly be paid off quickly?"
"I have a buddy, helping me in business, I rented a big warehouse, bought lots of quality cheap fruit from the orchard, now distributing to companies, hotels, supermarkets, with just one big order from my buddy, I’ve already earned over a hundred thousand, truly, I’m not lying... I’m about to go to President Palmer’s office to discuss cooperation, President Palmer was also introduced by this buddy."
Victoria was stunned.
Her brother doing business?
After a period without contact, he managed to do so well, so smoothly?
"Who’s this kind person helping you in business? Do I know them?"
"Whether you know him or not... I’ll take you to my warehouse later, and you’ll see how big my business is now."
"Tim, there’s something I still need to remind you of."
"What is it? Tell me."
"Don’t give all the money you earn to your wife, keep some for yourself for emergencies."
Timothy sighed deeply, feeling a bitter dilemma.
It’s not that he didn’t want to save some, but if Molly found out, she would make a scene, accusing him of hiding money, being selfish, and not caring about the family, not treating her as his wife.
Timothy pondered for a moment, said, "Sis, how about I save it for you in the future?"
Victoria was tense, "No, if she finds out, she might kill me."
Timothy felt deeply troubled.
With a gambling father, he couldn’t leave it with him.
His mother loved to show off everywhere, loved buying health products, more gullible and prone to scams than Molly.
"Once I pay off these debts, start earning money, I’ll seek advice from my buddy, have him teach me investment and financial management, which Molly doesn’t understand, so there will be less risk."
Victoria felt relieved, her brother seemed different, "Meanwhile, introduce me to your buddy sometime, I want to thank him properly."
"Forget it, he doesn’t want to meet you." Timothy was straightforward, realizing instantly he misspoke.
Victoria: ...
Timothy hurriedly said, "Sis, I’m busy, talk to you later."
Afterwards, the call ended.
Victoria smiled helplessly, putting her phone away, her brother’s issue resolved, a weight lifted off of her heart.
