Cold War between Mr. and Mrs Vaughn: He Regretted when Divorce
Chapter 54: Eugene Vaughn Discovers Vivian Miller’s Scheming
CHAPTER 54: CHAPTER 54: EUGENE VAUGHN DISCOVERS VIVIAN MILLER’S SCHEMING
Vivian Miller snorted angrily and picked up her things, "Eugene, did you take the wrong medicine? Why suddenly care about these trivial matters?"
Eugene Vaughn sat up straight, fastened his seatbelt, pondered for a few seconds, and asked, "Xiao Chen, would your wife mind if someone else sat in the passenger seat?"
Vivian’s eyes darkened slightly.
Xiao Chen replied respectfully, "President Vaughn, I don’t have a car. But I know most women would mind."
"She doesn’t have a cleanliness obsession." Eugene was still puzzled.
Xiao Chen said, "Maybe it’s a psychological cleanliness issue."
Psychological cleanliness?
No one understood this unpleasant feeling better than him.
He didn’t ask further, started the car, and left the parking lot.
Vivian stuffed her things into her Chanel bag, grumbling unhappily, "Your wife is really petty, what’s wrong with letting me sit in your passenger seat for a while? Is she really that jealous? Who knows what she says behind my back? I’m your best friend, not your mistress, being so narrow-minded like this, I’m speechless."
Eugene harshly said, "Do you not even want to sit in the back?"
"Can’t I just complain a little?"
"She never brings you up in front of me, yet you dare speak ill of her in front of me."
Vivian clenched her fists and gritted her teeth, "Eugene, you prioritize love over friendship."
Xiao Chen felt awkward, his scalp tingling, and dared not say a word, wearing a disdainful smile, looking out the window.
Eugene warned coldly, "Vivian Miller, we’ve played together since childhood, and indeed have a good relationship, but that’s no reason to give you the confidence to act recklessly. Don’t test my limits; you know the consequences."
Vivian held her breath, biting her lip in silence, her fists trembling.
Vivian was well aware that although Eugene appeared scholarly and reserved, deeply mature and stable, he was especially fierce and could do anything if provoked beyond his limits, ruthlessly cold.
The car drove a little further and unexpectedly entered a car wash.
Vivian leaned forward, looking, "Aren’t we going to the pharmaceutical expo to check the progress of the exhibition setup?"
Eugene didn’t answer her, instead ordered, "Get out of the car."
Xiao Chen and Vivian got out of the car, and when Eugene came out, a staff member respectfully greeted him, "Sir, is it a car wash?"
"Car wash." Eugene pointed to the passenger seat, "Clean and disinfect the inside of the car, thoroughly."
"Alright."
Vivian stood with her hands on her hips, her face turning green with anger.
——
Pharmaceutical Expo Exhibition Hall.
The chaotic hall was full of construction materials; some booths were already finished, while workers in other exhibition areas were busy rushing to complete their tasks.
Victoria Sinclair’s company was small, with limited funds, only able to rent a small booth in the corner with very simple decoration.
Once the workers completed the main frame, they collected their wages and left, leaving the final touch-ups to be done by them.
The male colleague was pasting advertisement papers, Angela Austin and Victoria were sweeping and tidying up the garbage on the floor.
"The exhibition starts tomorrow, I’m a bit nervous." Angela straightened up, supporting her aching back, and shook it.
"I’m more nervous than you." Victoria let out a soft sigh, stood up, and gazed at the luxurious, prime-positioned grand exhibition areas in front, feeling quite envious.
"Hopefully, we can secure a few major deals," Angela hoped, tossing her cleaning cloth aside and sitting on a chair, "I’m exhausted."
The male colleague finished pasting the ads, put his hands on his hips, walked to Victoria’s side, stood there, and looked around, "We’re almost done. Our booth may be small and located in a remote area, but our medicine is top-notch. Good wine needs no bush!"
Victoria smiled and nodded.
The male colleague, sharp-eyed, tilted his head towards the front, "Hey, isn’t that your husband?"
Victoria followed his finger and looked.
Sure enough, she saw Eugene in the exhibition area ahead.
A large group of people surrounded him, including Vivian.
Angela curiously got up, walked to Victoria’s side, and in her haste accidentally bumped Victoria into the male colleague’s arms.
Victoria almost fell, and the male colleague supported her shoulders.
"I’m sorry." Victoria apologized.
"No problem." The male colleague stepped aside to give Angela and Victoria a better view.
Angela exclaimed, "It really is Eugene. Vaughn Group doesn’t even develop their own medical equipment, why are they attending the pharmaceutical expo?"
"It’s Kyanite Pharma, not Vaughn Group." Victoria wasn’t too surprised.
Angela sighed, "Wow! Kyanite Pharmaceuticals is also quite large, isn’t it? Look at that exhibition area, top-notch luxury in the whole venue!"
Victoria pressed her lips, feeling quite envious.
She wished she could be that successful, to one day keep pace with him, to be worthy of his capabilities.
She lost her focus, and when turning, she bumped into the male colleague again.
The collision made the male colleague laugh; he steadied her, helplessly saying, "Can’t you watch your own husband without being so engrossed?"
Victoria felt a bit shy and awkward, "I’m really sorry."
She didn’t expect the male colleague to still be standing behind her, gossiping just like them, and looking at other exhibition areas.
Male colleague: "No problem. Hurry and tidy up here, once it’s clean, we can display the products."
Victoria continued tidying.
Angela got distracted, occasionally glancing at Eugene’s exhibition area, muttering, "Victoria, is he pretending not to see us? Being so close, won’t he come over to say hi?"
"Can’t you see he’s busy?" Victoria replied calmly.
Angela shook her head, "No, I see him looking pretty idle. His employees are the ones who seem busy."
"Stop staring at him, hurry up and finish cleaning."
Angela didn’t hold back, holding a towel without doing any work, staring at Eugene’s exhibition area, analyzing leisurely as she paced, "He’s glanced at us out of the corners of his eyes a hundred times, pretending not to see us. Why don’t we go over and say hello?"
"No." Victoria’s voice was serious.
Angela shrugged and stopped talking, knowing that Victoria minded Vivian’s presence and would feel uncomfortable.
After tidying the exhibition area, Victoria walked to the male colleague, reached out her hand, "Give me the car keys. I’ll go to the parking lot and bring up the goods."
"How can I let you do such heavy work? I’ll go instead."
"There are quite a lot of them, plus several boxes of flyers, let’s do it together."
"Alright."
The male colleague put down his work and walked shoulder to shoulder with her, exiting the booth and heading towards the elevator.
The two chatted while walking.
——
In another large exhibition area.
Eugene’s face was as dark as ink; he crumpled the paper in his hand and threw it into the nearby trash can.
The employees present were shocked and frozen, the sales manager’s hands shook, nervously swallowing, stood up, "President Vaughn, the types of exhibits, pricing, quantities, I... I showed them to you before, and you agreed at the time."
Eugene regained his composure, glanced at the sales manager, then looked at the crumpled product list in the trash can, hurried to pick it up.
His hand hovered above the trash can, feeling it was dirty, hesitated to reach in.
He pulled back and sat down again, cleared his throat, "It’s not the exhibits that have a problem; it’s the paper that’s a bit dirty."
The sales manager breathed a sigh of relief, quickly found a clean copy of the product list and handed it over with both hands.
Vivian stood up from her seat, looked around the expo, the decoration was already complete, sales had entered, product display organized, everything done perfectly.
She reminded him, "President Vaughn, the sales manager here has it covered, there’s absolutely no problems. There’s a new project investment meeting at five this afternoon."
Eugene spun the pen in his hand, looked down at the product list on the desk, said, "Meeting postponed, you return to the company first; I have some other things to do here."
All the employees were bewildered.
You’re the boss, only responsible for inspection, what could you possibly be busy with?
Vivian, puzzled, "There’s nothing more to do here, why not leave?"
Eugene looked up at her, "Are you my boss?"
"Don’t dare."
Eugene raised an eyebrow, coldly snorted, "I think you dare quite a bit."
