CHAPTER 40: CHAPTER 40: HIDDEN PERILS BURIED

"If they bother you again, just give me a call."

"Okay."

That night, Laura Quincy stayed up until 1 AM to finish translating all the documents, so she came to the office the next morning with dark circles under her eyes.

As soon as she stepped out of the elevator, she ran into Crystal Langley and Quinn Chase, who teased, "Whoa! Had a wild night last night, huh? You look totally drained."

Laura waved the documents in her hand, "I worked overtime until one last night. Can you expect me to be energetic?"

Crystal leaned in, "It’s rare to hear about the third team having to work overtime without going on a business trip!"

Laura sighed, "No choice, they need this document urgently, and Ella, who knows Arabic, is on a business trip and hasn’t returned yet."

Then she went back to her cubicle, not caring whether Crystal and Quinn believed her. Anyway, truth and lies are often mixed among colleagues. Those willing to believe you will naturally believe, and those unwilling will hear the truth as lies.

Around three in the afternoon, Laura suddenly received a call from an unknown number. After some thought, she answered, "Hello?"

Laura laughed, "Of course not! I’ve been remembering all along that today is Little Mars’s birthday."

Justin Hawthorne immediately got excited upon hearing this, "Great! I’ll call Daddy now. After you finish work, come home with Daddy. I’ll be waiting for you!"

Laura smiled and nodded, "Okay."

Around five o’clock, Laura suddenly received a text message: Go to the parking lot now and wait for me.

The message was from the Cold-Blooded Demon King, as commanding as ever. Laura pouted and replied: I’ll just drive and follow you.

Soon, another text message came.

"Ride in my car."

"What if someone from work sees us? Besides, it’s more convenient for me to drive myself since I have work tomorrow."
