Conquest Game: The Aloof Husband is Dangerous!
Chapter 62: I Said Don’t Take Me to the Hospital!
CHAPTER 62: CHAPTER 62: I SAID DON’T TAKE ME TO THE HOSPITAL!
Jasper Hawthorne cast a suspicious glance at her, "Laura, it’s best if you think this way. Although I’ve hurt you, if you fall for my third uncle, then you’d truly be jumping into a pit of fire."
Laura Quincy looked at him with a face full of frustration, "Get lost!"
A very direct word, she didn’t want to see him for another second!
Jasper Hawthorne sighed, "Your cold is quite severe, you should go to the hospital for a check-up! How about I call Nina Pierce for you?"
Laura Quincy picked up the pillow beside her and threw it at him, "Get lost!"
Jasper Hawthorne dodged the pillow she threw and left dejectedly.
After taking a few steps, Laura Quincy called out to him again, "Stop!"
Jasper Hawthorne felt a bit of joy in his heart, could it be that Laura changed her mind?
"Leave my house key! You’re no longer welcome here!"
"Laura, I..."
"I beg you, please get out of my sight."
Laura Quincy turned her face away, speaking hysterically.
The former lover, now a scumbag, it was still a bit difficult to fully accept this fact overnight.
What she couldn’t understand was, having such an intimate relationship with another woman, how could he still have the nerve to be so gentle with her?
By treating her this way, wasn’t he betraying that other girl?
From a woman’s perspective, he was a total scumbag!
This was the type of man she hated the most!
No exception!
After hearing the door close, Laura Quincy fell back onto her bed and continued to sleep, she just wanted to sleep until everything was blurry, and hoped no one would disturb her!
When she woke up again, it was completely dark.
Laura Quincy picked up her phone to see a text from her friend: Laura, are you home? I’ll bring you some food after work!
She replied with a simple "Okay."
At this moment, only her best friend seemed the most heartwarming.
About ten minutes later, the doorbell suddenly rang, and Laura Quincy assumed Nina was back, so she forced herself to open the door.
But—
Seeing the man outside the door, Laura Quincy didn’t think twice and tried to close it.
Jason Hawthorne reached out to block the door, forcefully pushing his way inside, then suddenly touched her forehead, "You’re running a fever."
A statement of certainty, not a question.
Laura Quincy’s eyes were cold, "It’s none of your business! You’re not welcome in my house!"
Jason Hawthorne started pulling her out, "Come with me to the hospital."
Laura Quincy struggled desperately, "Let go of me! What right do you have to demand anything of me? What are you to me? What qualifications do you have to control me?"
Jason Hawthorne looked at her deeply, then said something that left her stunned, "You’re my son’s tutor, tomorrow is the weekend, do you want to be absent from the second class? Disappoint Twinkle?"
Laura Quincy was taken aback, not expecting such an answer from him.
She took a deep breath and said, "I’m not made of iron, of course, I’ll get sick sometimes! I don’t want to tutor anymore; last week was like free teaching for me."
Jason Hawthorne’s dark eyes fixed deeply on her, "Don’t want to do it anymore? Laura Quincy, are you such a casual woman? Are you taking your job lightly? Or are you deliberately playing with my son’s emotions?"
Laura Quincy turned pale from his accusations, "Don’t make a big deal out of nothing! That’s not what I meant at all!"
Jason Hawthorne pressed on, "If that’s not what you meant, then what did you mean? Don’t you know Twinkle likes you a lot? Since knowing you’re his tutor, he’s been much more cheerful, and now you want me to tell him you’re in a bad mood and not doing it anymore, don’t you think you’re being cruel?"
Laura Quincy found his accusations absurd, "I’ll explain to Twinkle myself."
Jason Hawthorne still wasn’t willing to let her go, "Explain how? Are you going to say your emotions are unstable because of a break-up? Even if you think I played a role in your break-up with Jasper, this doesn’t affect the tutoring schedule with Twinkle. These are two separate things."
He paused, then added, "The child is innocent."
Laura Quincy found it strange why he became so agitated when mentioning Twinkle, then she thought: Maybe this is how a father feels! He must want his son to be happy.
"I’ll come this week."
Just thinking of Twinkle’s innocent and adorable little face made it hard for her to refuse.
Hearing her response, Jason Hawthorne’s expression eased, and without allowing any objections, he pulled her towards the door, "Come to the hospital with me first."
His strength was too great, and Laura Quincy was caught off guard, being pulled out towards the door.
"Hey! I don’t want to go to the hospital! Let go!"
"Woman, you’re running a fever!" Jason Hawthorne’s deep, rich voice was filled with an undeniable authority.
But Laura Quincy refused to comply, "I said I don’t want to go to the hospital! Are you deaf?"
Jason Hawthorne seemed not to hear her, pulling Laura Quincy out the door. His strength was overwhelming, leaving Laura Quincy unable to break free, passively dragged towards the elevator.
Additionally, being sick made her body weak, leaving her with no option but to inwardly complain about how domineering the man was.
Nina Pierce had just arrived at her friend’s apartment complex when she saw a black, limited edition Spyker C8 driving away, pondering about when such a wealthy individual had moved in.
Before she moved much further, a text from her friend arrived: Nina, I have a fever, The Demon King is forcefully taking me to the hospital, if you see the message, don’t come over yet.
Damn!
So, the Spyker C8 I saw earlier was Jason Hawthorne’s car? And Laura was in it too?
If I had received the text a second earlier, maybe I could have stopped the car...
Daydreams are just daydreams after all...
Nina Pierce glanced at the takeout she was holding, turned around, and walked toward the exit of the community. Oh well! Better to take it back for her brother working on his homework!
As for Laura, I’ll send her a message after I get back.
As she walked, she had a feeling that the entanglement between Laura and the Fourth Young Master Hawthorne might not be easily severed. Just thinking about that child who looks so much like her friend...
Nina felt that this matter wasn’t so simple! Yet, exactly what was off, she couldn’t quite pinpoint.
Sunstone Hospital, the best private hospital in Aethelburg, equipped with the nation’s most advanced facilities and medical staff, also boasted one of the finest environments.
Laura Quincy resisted and said, "I’m just an ordinary office worker. This hospital is too expensive; I can’t afford it. I want to go to Nina’s hospital!"
Jason Hawthorne cast a cold glance at her, "You don’t need to pay."
Laura was even more insistent, "We’re not related, so there’s no reason for me to spend your money!"
Jason’s deep black eyes narrowed slightly, "Still so sharp-tongued even with a fever?"
Laura wanted to say more, but then she saw two familiar faces—John and Mary, the couple.
She had met them before at Little Mars’s fifth birthday party. They’re Little Mars’s godparents, which also means they’re good friends of The Demon King.
John glanced at his friend and Laura, with a knowing smile. He always knew that the ties between these two couldn’t be easily broken. Ever since Jason learned that Laura hadn’t remembered the past, his attitude towards her had completely changed.
It appeared he had taken an interest in her.
Generally speaking, when a man is interested in a woman, he wants her to be his!
Knowing Jason as he does, he’s sure that’s what Jason thinks.
Interesting!
Very interesting!
Then he cheerfully asked, "Miss Quincy, are you unwell?"
Before Laura could speak, Jason had already answered, "She has a fever. Let the best doctor in your hospital take a look at her."
John coughed lightly. Really, just a fever and he wants the best doctor in the hospital? Jason is making a big fuss over nothing!
It’s completely because of concern!
Laura also felt Jason’s unusual care, "It’s just a little fever, not such a big deal..."
Mary smiled and took her hand, "Come with me."
Then she gave her boyfriend a look that said, "Don’t worry."
After they left, John took his friend to his office and directly asked, "Smitten?"
Jason furrowed his brow slightly, "She’s Twinkle’s mom, and Twinkle really likes her."
John couldn’t help but laugh out loud, "That’s not a valid reason! If it’s just because Twinkle likes her, you wouldn’t be so invested in her, would you?"
Jason wasn’t embarrassed about his intentions being revealed, maintaining his usual indifferent expression, "The feeling she gives me is indeed very different."
John was aware of it, "Have you considered what to do if she finds out about what happened six years ago?"
Jason raised an eyebrow, "Explain? Why explain? Twinkle is so adorable; shouldn’t she be grateful for my decision back then?"
John was speechless, "..."
Unbelievable!
His friend’s mindset is simply beyond normal comprehension; his IQ and intelligence are high, but emotionally...!
Ahem...
It’s worrying!
"Are you sure Laura would think the same?"
"Of course, that’s not a problem."
"..."
John decisively gave up continuing the conversation with his friend; his thought process was something he couldn’t fathom.
Meanwhile, on the other side.
Mary took Laura to run some tests and check her temperature. She had a fever of 38.9 degrees Celsius, nothing else was wrong, just needed some IV drips.
While getting her IV, Laura thought she could just sit in the infusion room, but Mary arranged a private ward for her.
"Mary, it’s really unnecessary."
"You were brought here by Jason, so you’re our friend and should be treated as such!"
"Uh..."
Laura couldn’t refuse and had to agree.
In casual conversation, Mary casually mentioned, "All these years, it’s the first time Jason has brought a woman to our hospital, also the first time he’s taken a woman to celebrate Twinkle’s birthday."
Laura’s body stiffened slightly as she lay down, forcing a slight smile at the corner of her lips, "Really? Doesn’t he have a girlfriend named Stella Jennings?"
Mary quickly shook her head, "Stella Jennings isn’t Jason’s girlfriend, just a matchmaking candidate arranged by his father. Twinkle doesn’t like her, so Jason only deals with her to appease his dad."
