CHAPTER 58: CHAPTER 39 DIVORCE 1_2

She didn’t want to hide it. She had met him in the purest years of her life, and under his guidance, she had gradually learned about love and relationships between men and women. How could she easily forget him?

Even though they had reached a point where they couldn’t stand each other, deep in her heart, there was still a place storing the memories of their time together...

Sometimes she wondered if he, too, would occasionally remember some of the moments they had shared during their two passionate years together.

He probably wouldn’t...

He was so calm and rational, and he had always treated her as a substitute. Now that the "real one" was back, why would he think of her?

No matter, once she went to America, she intended to start a new life...

After all, he wasn’t the only man in the world. Even if another man wasn’t as exceptional as him, as long as that someone was sincere with her... Yes, sincerity was all that mattered!

「At nine in the evening, the car drove into Howard Geoffrey’s private airport.」

Jason Wood got out of the car and gestured to the pilot. The pilot nodded, as if to confirm that the plane was ready.

Because her foot was still injured, Roye helped Becca out of the car.

Someone immediately brought a wheelchair so Becca could sit comfortably.

Perhaps following Howard Geoffrey’s specific instructions, Jason Wood apologized, "Miss Quentin, we’ve already delayed quite a bit. Why don’t we board the plane now?"

Becca was as agreeable as always. "You arrange it."

Jason Wood then boarded the plane to speak with the people inside.

Roye noticed Becca looked unwell. Worried she might be afraid of living alone in America, he quickly reassured her, "Miss Quentin, there’s nothing to worry about. The President has arranged a very nice place for you to stay. There will be many servants to attend to you around the clock, as well as several doctors to look after you. Oh, and today, two doctors will be on the plane to take care of you. Please don’t worry."

"Mm."

"Then I’ll push you onto the plane now."

"Alright."

The wheelchair was smoothly pushed into the cabin. Becca glanced around, noting the private plane’s surprisingly large interior.

After Jason Wood and Roye gave some final instructions to the doctors, they disembarked. Thus, Becca was left alone in the spacious cabin with a group of strangers.

Suddenly, someone spoke, "Miss Quentin, the takeoff won’t cause much turbulence. Let us help you lie down and rest."

Turning, she saw it was one of the doctors in a white coat. Becca nodded faintly.

The two doctors immediately and carefully helped her from the wheelchair onto the only large bed in the cabin.

However, just as Becca was about to lie down, one of the doctors suddenly shouted, "Miss Quentin is experiencing a complication! Don’t take off!"

The other doctor, also startled by the sudden development, quickly composed himself and instructed Becca, "Miss Quentin, you’re bleeding! For your safety and the baby’s, you mustn’t make any movements now. I’ll support you. Lie down slowly, and tell us if you feel any pain."

Blood? It was only then that Becca felt the pain in her lower abdomen, and her face turned deathly pale.

Suddenly, blood soaked the pristine white bedsheets.

Feeling her lower body grow increasingly damp and the pain intensify, Becca clenched the bedsheets tightly.

Everyone on the plane began to panic, many of them making phone calls.

Before long, Jason Wood and Roye, who had just left, rushed back. Seeing the scene, they both froze, looking utterly helpless.

Fortunately, the two doctors on board quickly began to provide Becca with emergency care.

Soon after, an ambulance arrived, its sirens wailing.

Becca was lifted onto a stretcher and carried into the ambulance.

Countless bright lights from the ambulance shone on Becca’s ashen face.

Becca was in so much pain she was barely conscious, but she clung tightly to the gurney’s railing, terrified of succumbing to the darkness and abandoning her child.

After some time, she faintly heard, "We can’t save the baby... The surgery must be performed immediately, or the mother’s life will be in danger too..."

"Alright, I’ll prepare for it immediately."

Her body immobilized by anesthesia, Becca could only manage an extremely feeble, intermittent whisper, "Please... save... my child..."

While the tense surgery was underway, Howard Geoffrey had already arrived at the hospital.

Staring at the illuminated red light above the operating room, Howard Geoffrey angrily slammed his fist against the wall.

Jason Wood and Roye stood with their heads bowed, too terrified to make a sound.

A nurse rushed out of the operating room, hastily handing a form to Howard Geoffrey. "The patient’s condition is critical. A family member needs to sign the surgical consent form."

Having regained his composure, Howard Geoffrey took the consent form and asked in a deep voice, "How is she now?"

"We couldn’t save the baby, and the mother’s condition is also very critical."

「Four hours later, Becca was wheeled out of the operating room.」

The exhausted doctor followed, removing his mask and gloves.

Howard Geoffrey’s gaze was fixed on Becca’s face, as pale as death.

The doctor said, "Mr. Geoffrey, please don’t worry. Your wife is out of danger now. She’s just weak and still under the effects of the anesthesia, so she hasn’t woken up yet."

Averting his gaze, Howard Geoffrey asked, his voice slightly hoarse, "Why did this happen?"

"Your wife showed signs of a threatened miscarriage all along. We are very sorry. After all, no one wishes for such accidents."

Aunt Clare learned from a nurse that when Becca woke up from unconsciousness and discovered she had lost her baby, she didn’t cry or speak. She simply sat on the bed, dazed, for an entire night.

When morning came, she neither ate nor drank, lying in bed the entire day. By evening, with no one from the Geoffrey family having come to see her, she suddenly told the nurse she was hungry.

From then on, Becca was very cooperative, doing whatever the doctors and nurses told her. She focused on her recovery, hoping to be discharged as soon as possible.

「Two weeks later, Becca’s body had indeed recovered significantly.」

After an examination, the doctor informed her she could be discharged that day. Consequently, Aunt Clare was already handling Becca’s discharge paperwork.
