CHAPTER 62: CHAPTER 41 DIVORCE 3_2

Arriving at the office desk, Solicitor Scott courteously called out, "Lady Geoffrey."

Seeing the familiar lawyer, Becca was somewhat surprised. She stood up and said, "Oh, it’s you. Please, have a seat."

"I won’t sit, thank you." At that moment, Solicitor Scott straightened his posture and said in a professional tone, "Lady Geoffrey, I am here today on behalf of Mr. Geoffrey to request a divorce."

Becca’s hands, resting at her sides, visibly stilled.

Upon hearing Solicitor Scott’s words, Secretary Shaw, who had been looking down, lifted his head in shock.

After a moment, Becca nodded lightly. "I have something I need to attend to. If you have the time, please wait for me here. We can talk later."

Solicitor Scott replied, "Alright."

"Ye, please pour Solicitor Scott a glass of water. I might be a little late," Becca said to her assistant, who was standing outside the door.

"Alright."

"Secretary Shaw, let’s go."

Following Becca, Secretary Shaw could sense a faint heaviness in her every step. Though she deliberately kept her back straight, her desolation was hard to conceal.

"Miss Quentin..." Secretary Shaw suddenly called out.

"Hmm?"

"Is your relationship with Mr. Geoffrey... really beyond saving?" Secretary Shaw had initially only meant to show concern, but once the words were out, he realized they sounded even crueler to Becca.

Becca didn’t slow her pace. Instead, she straightened her posture even more and said lightly, "Actually, we should have divorced long ago. Things just kept delaying it."

"Oh..." Secretary Shaw was slightly surprised, but considering Becca’s current emotional state, he didn’t press further.

A minute later, Becca arrived at the reception room.

The victim’s lawyer and representative immediately stood up from the sofa, looking as if they had been waiting impatiently.

An hour later, Secretary Shaw saw everyone out from the reception room.

Sitting on the sofa, Becca first sighed, then glanced around the room.

Secretary Shaw saw the reluctance in Becca’s eyes but didn’t know what to say to comfort her. He could only stand silently behind her.

After a moment, Becca rose from the sofa and calmly walked out of the reception room.

On her way back to the office, Becca saw employees from various departments gathered in small groups, whispering. Many of them wore troubled expressions.

Snippets of their discussions faintly reached Becca’s ears.

"It’s true! Ye herself heard the lawyer say it just now..."

"So they’re getting divorced! No wonder Mr. Geoffrey hasn’t shown up. It seems the rumors about Mr. Geoffrey and Miss Quentin not getting along were true all along..."

"I feel so sorry for Miss Quentin. She just lost her father, then her child unexpectedly, and now her husband is asking for a divorce. It’s one blow after another!"

"Never mind feeling sorry for her. Even if she divorces Mr. Geoffrey, she’ll be fine. But what about us? I heard ’Quentin’ has been entirely awarded to the victim. Who are we supposed to ask for the wages ’Quentin’ has owed us for the past few months?"

These voices also reached Secretary Shaw’s ears, and he couldn’t help but glance at Becca.

Becca seemed unaffected by these voices and continued walking towards her office.

Entering her office, Becca showed no signs of negativity or low spirits. She smiled at Solicitor Scott and said, "I’m sorry to have kept you waiting. We can begin now."

Solicitor Scott, sitting opposite Becca, took the divorce agreement from his briefcase and slid it in front of her. "Please take a look. If there’s anything in the agreement you’re not satisfied with, you can raise it directly, and I will relay your concerns to Mr. Geoffrey."

Becca picked up the divorce agreement, glanced at it briefly, and asked, "When does the agreement take effect?"

Solicitor Scott replied, "Since Mr. Geoffrey has already signed it, the agreement will take effect once you sign it."

Yes, his signature at the bottom right corner of the divorce agreement was so conspicuous, so clear.

Not allowing herself to hesitate, Becca pulled a pen from the penholder and, without a moment’s pause, signed her name beside his.

Solicitor Scott took the divorce agreement, glanced at it, and then stood up. "Miss Quentin, the formalities are complete. I have other matters to attend to, so I’ll take my leave now."

Becca also stood up and nodded lightly.

Solicitor Scott then departed.

After Solicitor Scott left, Becca, who had been struggling to maintain her composure, finally sagged tiredly against the back of her chair and closed her eyes heavily.

「"Skytop" Corporation, T City branch.」

Solicitor Scott stepped out of the elevator, saw Roye, and said, "Mr. Geoffrey asked me to meet him here."

Roye glanced at the closed door of the CEO’s office and replied, "I’m afraid the boss doesn’t have time right now. Several senior executives are with him discussing urgent matters."

"Oh."

Roye asked casually, "What did you need to see the boss about?"

"Miss Quentin has signed the divorce agreement. I’ve brought it for Mr. Geoffrey to review. If there are no issues, I’ll have it stamped to make it official."

Roye couldn’t help but sigh. "Alas, a married couple becoming strangers in the blink of an eye... By the way, did Miss Quentin say anything?"

Solicitor Scott replied truthfully, "I couldn’t tell."

Roye offered his opinion, "She probably isn’t too upset. After all, Miss Quentin has always been rather cold towards the boss."

Solicitor Scott asked, puzzled, "I’m very curious. Why didn’t Miss Quentin make any demands regarding the division of assets in the divorce?"

Roye chuckled. "You’re new with the boss, so you might not understand. Miss Quentin was able to marry our boss only because her father used despicable means to arrange it. That’s why she has no right to demand a share of his assets."

Ten minutes later, Solicitor Scott stood before Howard Geoffrey’s desk.

Howard Geoffrey was examining a report and didn’t look up. He simply asked Solicitor Scott, "Is it settled?"

"Yes." As he spoke, Solicitor Scott took the divorce agreement from his briefcase and handed it to Howard Geoffrey.

Howard Geoffrey didn’t even glance at the agreement. "You may leave," he said indifferently.

"Yes."

Just as Solicitor Scott was leaving, Jason Wood entered from outside.

Looking as if he had urgent news to report to Howard Geoffrey, Jason Wood appeared quite anxious. "Boss!"

Howard Geoffrey continued flipping through the report in his hand and said coolly, "What has you so agitated?"

"I’ve found it."

Although Wood didn’t specify what "it" was, Howard Geoffrey seemed to share an understanding with him. His hand paused for a second over the report he was reviewing. "Speak."
