CHAPTER 5: GETTING THE MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE

"Take a look, if you have any comments, you can make changes." Jensen Sterling handed the document over.

Mia Sutton took it, lowered her head, and started to read carefully. Gradually, a smile appeared in her eyes. What could she say? Mr. Sterling had truly thought of everything. It seemed like she was getting a really good deal.

After a while, Mia closed the contract and put it on the table.

"Finished reading?"

"Yes, I’m done."

Jensen looked at the obedient young girl answering, showing no sign of dissatisfaction. After a pause, he decided to remind her, although she was innocent, he couldn’t be a beast: "After we get the license, we’ll live together. But don’t worry, we’ll have separate rooms. You can pick any room you like in the house, and if there’s anything you don’t like, you can have someone change it. Are you okay with that?"

Mia nodded, "Yes, I can."

"It was mentioned in there, I saw it."

Jensen paused. He originally thought the young girl might have read a bit carelessly and didn’t notice, so he specifically mentioned it. Since she saw it, there’s no problem.

Then he took out a pen and handed it to her, "I’ve already signed it." The agreement would take effect as soon as she signed her name.

Mia took the pen and, without saying much, swiftly signed her name.

It was just an agreement. As long as the two adhered to it, it was like a worthless piece of paper. Aside from marrying him and playing the role of his good wife for three years, everything else was basically in her favor. She wasn’t worried.

"Do you have any plans for this afternoon?" Jensen asked.

"No, nothing."

"Then shall we go get the license first?"

Upon hearing this, Mia blinked and answered promptly without the slightest hesitation, "Sure."

"Okay."

When they stepped outside, the weather had unexpectedly changed. The wind was strong, bending the branches of the trees on the street.

Mia: "..."

She had specifically worn a dress today to meet the handsome guy. Damn weather.

Jensen slightly furrowed his brows, then took off his coat and draped it over Mia, not saying an extra word.

"Let’s go."

Mia was overjoyed inside. Sure enough, the attentive nature of an older man was hitting her weak spot.

Mia first went home, skillfully opened a drawer, and took out the household register.

...

Perhaps due to the bad weather, the civil affairs bureau was not particularly crowded. It was soon their turn.

The staff looked up to see two people walking in. The young girl was very pretty, and the man next to her was a head taller, wearing a mask that only revealed his eyes. He looked quite handsome too.

They were a match made in heaven, except... Was the young girl at the legal marriage age?

Just as she was thinking this, the man took off his mask, revealing his face.

The staff was instantly petrified: "..."

Was she hallucinating, or why would the film emperor appear here? She blinked, but he hadn’t disappeared.

The staff glanced at both of them and saw Mia’s knowing smile... Did she just get the scoop of the century?

But she quickly regained her composure. Despite her inner turmoil, she dutifully followed the procedures.

It wasn’t complicated, and soon, two bright red booklets were in their hands.

Jensen took a glance at them, then put them away.

Holding Mia’s hand, he turned politely to the staff and said, "Thank you, but please keep it confidential."

The staff quickly nodded. She would definitely keep it confidential, not... She shakily took out a booklet, "Could I ask Mr. Sterling for an autograph?"

Then she saw Jensen turn to look at Mia, with a questioning look in his eyes.

Mia: Why is he looking at me?

Oh, right, they had to show affection in front of others. She understood, then lifted her head, naturally wrapping her arm around the man’s. Her eyes sparkled as she looked at Jensen and sweetly said, "You can sign!"

Although Jensen intentionally asked Mia, he didn’t expect her to hug him, momentarily stiffening before quickly returning to normal.

Then they heard Jensen laughingly say, "Okay," as he casually signed his name for the staff.

Even after the two left, the staff was screaming internally. Holy crap, this is too sweet; Mr. Sterling is so doting!
