Contract Marriage: Let's Make It Real, Mrs. Sterling!
Chapter 76: No Longer Affected by the Plot
CHAPTER 76: NO LONGER AFFECTED BY THE PLOT
Simon Sutton and Ashley Vance didn’t question why Mia Sutton could mistake the items.
Nor did they question why she said they chose them together, yet didn’t know what the other person bought.
"What does the other person do?" Simon Sutton asked in a low voice.
Mia Sutton quickly replied, "He’s an actor, but don’t worry, he’s just a small-time actor, not really famous, not the kind who messes around."
"And he’s very hardworking, he seriously shoots every day. This time, he couldn’t come back with me because he got a role."
"You know, for a small actor, getting a role is not easy."
Mia Sutton rattled off, without a pause, until she almost believed it herself—a hardworking and ambitious newcomer, practically too perfect.
Ashley Vance glanced at the things on the table and said with some amazement, "Then this small actor earns quite a lot."
Mia Sutton: "..."
She forgot about that part, just focusing on talking big.
Ordinarily sharp to the point of being cunning, at home it was like she lost her mind.
Mia Sutton: "Didn’t he take out more than half of his savings? I chipped in too, and besides, this watch... no, this pen and jade bracelet aren’t that expensive."
Even though she said it, she didn’t quite believe it herself, but she had to smooth it over; it was a matter of principle.
Simon and Mia’s mother stayed silent. It seemed like such a person existed, but it was unclear if the relationship with Mia was real or not.
Simon asked a few more questions, then Mia was called back to the room by Ashley Vance.
......
In the room, Ashley Vance sat upright, looking serious: "Mia, breaking up with Martin Wright, Mom doesn’t hold it against you. If you don’t like him anymore, separating is fine. But you can’t just find someone else recklessly because of this, nor should you try to make Martin Wright regret by finding another person. Such things are not allowed to happen."
"I won’t comment on your boyfriend, but I hope you have your own judgment, don’t be impulsive!"
It’s a matter of principle. Her Mia is wonderful, and Martin Wright not cherishing her is his loss, but her daughter can’t, out of spite for one person, casually give herself to another.
Ashley didn’t want to say it because she believed her daughter, whom she taught from a young age, wouldn’t do such a thing. But thinking about her behavior after meeting Martin Wright, it was like she became a different person.
She didn’t even seem like the child she had raised from a young age, and even stopped being close to family, making Ashley doubt if there was something wrong with her own parenting.
Afraid Mia Sutton would become rebellious again, she softened her tone: "Mia, I’m not scolding you, it’s just..."
Mia Sutton sat next to Ashley Vance, looked seriously into her eyes, and said earnestly and firmly, "I won’t, Mom. Please rest assured, I won’t be like that again."
The power of the book’s plot will no longer influence me; I am still the daughter you personally taught.
The room remained silent for several seconds, and Ashley Vance looked at the young girl in front of her and smiled.
She slowly lifted her hand and gently tucked the fallen hair behind Mia’s ear, and responded, "Okay."
......
Mia Sutton hadn’t come back for so long, and this time, she stayed at home for a long time; if it weren’t for the program selecting the song for the second performance tomorrow, she wouldn’t want to leave.
