Cosmic Paragon
Chapter 115 - 114: Illusion King!
CHAPTER 115: CHAPTER 114: ILLUSION KING!
After being slammed about on so many buildings, he felt like his body was falling apart and every inch of his body was wracked with pain.
The water vanished abruptly and Drake fell to the hard ground. Once he hit the ground a terrifying pressure descended smashing him flat into the ground.
The force of Gravity! It was so heavy, Drake could hear his bones creaking against each other.
With all these changes, Drake came to a realization. ’This is an Illusion!’
The Audience were also able to see the change in the world phenomenon. This is thanks to the Arena’s special abilities. Illusions were a form of mental attack. Under normal condition when a mage cast an illusion, nobody else but the opponent would descend into the world of the illusion. But the Arena was capable of allowing all the spectators to see into the world of the illusion.
The spectators were currently immersed in the illusion watching everything in this illusion world, while being protected from it by the Arena. It was like being in Virtual reality.
The force of Gravity vanished and Drake raised his head slowly from the ground only to realize that he was no longer in the city, but at the top of a tall mountain high up in the Sky. Charles stood a distance of a few meters away. And he swung his umbrella in Drake’s direction.
Suddenly, a powerful gale blew over covering several miles. With the heavy breeze, the temperature dropped drastically until this whole place soon turned into a complete ice field.
Not long later the wind turned into a powerful blizzard storm, that blew through this icy tundra. The winds were so sharp they cut apart Drake’s armor and weapons. And soon several gashes covered Drake’s body.
The ground suddenly caved in and Drake fell in through the crack in the ground. He found himself falling into a dark bottomless abyss, and the darkness seemed to be extracting his life force and magic power while his body was being corroded.
However, while all this was happening to Drake, Charles stood there a few meters away untouched by all this. It was like he was in a different world from this one, and nothing could affect him.
The ’Eyes of Order focused on Charles. Meanwhile, Drake felt that his magic power was soon completely exhausted. His armor was also corroded until it finally shattered.
BANG!
Drake suddenly hit solid ground and he felt like the impact shattered every bone and organ in his body. He was no longer able to move.
The temperature suddenly started rising rapidly. Drake saw that he was now lying on a floating rock. However, it was not water that the rock was floating over, but lava.
At this moment, Drake was currently lying in the belly of an active Volcano. The Magma was already at the boiling point and was about to erupt.
Dark clouds covered the heavens. And streaks of lightning could be seen flickering through the sky. The streams of lightning converged and formed a large vortex within the clouds high up in the Sky.
Everyone watching held their breaths when they felt the pressure.
"This is insane! He is way too powerful"
It was Phillip who had thought it was over said this.
"The 10 Kings are called Kings for a reason. Each and every one of the 10 Kings is a powerful student of the Elite class that is undefeated in a specific field." Jeremy said slowly from beside him. "Charles has the title of ’Illusion King’. That is because among 3 star mages in all the younger generation in the empire, no one can defeat him when it comes to the power of illusions. Now do you understand?"
’Illusion King Charles Prince! One of the 10 Kings.’
They turned back to watching the battle. Charles still stood not too far away from Drake like a spectator.
Drake felt an impending sense of doom.
Charles’s lips did not move, but his voice resounded throughout heaven and earth, "Now do you understand what I mean? You have no way of fighting back if I wish to destroy you. This is my world, here I am God." those words resounded throughout the whole world and in the depths of Drake’s mind.
The voice carried a powerful hypnotic power, and Drake couldn’t help but think they were true himself.
The world fell silent.
Suddenly, the lightning vortex in the sky that had been brewing and the boiling magma erupted at the same time. A giant pillar of lightning descended and the temperature around Drake skyrocketed as magma shot up. The Volcano was erupting and at the same time the lightning was about to hit him.
It was the end for Paragon. There was no way he could fight against the forces of nature.
’A force of nature!’
This was Charles’s world. Here nothing could defy him! That was what all believed. The experts that would be in the Grand Mage Tournament that were among the spectators felt pressure.
At this moment however, Drake’s eyes suddenly shone with blinding brilliance as the ’Power of Oder’ of the Libra Constellation circulated.
’So what if you control this world?’ Drake thought, "A force of nature? Who cares? In this world you are God? Who cares? I am Order! And this is just an illusion. Before the power of Order all submit."
The ’Eyes of Order’ shone and the stars swirled as Drake called out.
"Invert Order!"
In the next moment Charles’s expression changed and his eyes widened. Charles suddenly found that he had switched places with Drake. He felt pain suddenly attack every part of his being, all his bones were broken and his organs were ruptured while his muscles were all torn.
It was all so painful he nearly lost consciousness. The next instant, the descending pillar of lightning struck and the volcano erupted.
ZZZT! BOOM!
CRACK! CRACK! CRACK!
The whole world was suddenly covered in a spiderweb of cracks, making it look like the world was a piece of glass.
A spectator exclaimed, "The world is cracking! The illusion is being undone."
However an expert beside him shook his head with a frown on his face. "No, it’s not being undone. The illusion has been broken!" he said solemnly.
If it was being undone, then that meant Charles would be the one who was dispelling the illusion himself. In that case the illusion world would not fall apart so violently and would have just slowly faded away, but this world was falling apart. This meant Paragon or someone definitely did something that was breaking the illusion forcefully.
Finally the illusion world shattered and fell apart revealing the terrain of the Arena once again.
The Audience were shocked to see that both Paragon and Charles were standing at their original positions since the fight started. It was like they had never moved an inch since the fight began.
Drake exhaled then he turned around and left.
Charles watched him walk away then he smiled. Slowly his lips parted and he muttered a few words. The next moment white light wrapped around him and he was teleported out of the battlefield.
"Paragon Wins!"
The loud voice resounded through the battlefield.
There was a clamor throughout the stands.
Paragon won in a fight against one of the 10 Kings! How the hell was this even remotely possible?
Countless mages were unconvinced. Charles Prince was the Illusion King. He was a top rate mage that reigned undefeated for so long, how could he possibly be defeated by some nobody?
In that fight Charles clearly had the upper hand, yet he had suddenly lost? Bullshit!
There were lots of protests and many were unconvinced.
In the end it was concluded that Charles had gone easy on Paragon, because he had given his word as a gentleman, that he would not bully Paragon. Otherwise Paragon would have lost without a doubt.
Many remained unconvinced, but there was nothing they could do about it. They would just have to wait for the true Grand Mage Tournament.
...
Charles was teleported into an apartment room. Actually while this was an apartment room, it was a room inside arena. It was part of the Arena.
This was Charles’s private changing room. It was a room he had rented in the Arena. Only people with a high ranking in the Arena were able to have a private room. You didn’t need to be in a specific place in the Arena to be able to receive or send out challenges in tn the Arena.
You could do so wherever you were and as long as you were within the boundaries of the Arena you could directly be teleported into the Battle zone.
As Charles stood in the middle of the room, his gaze lingered as he stared off into space. It was the same position he had been in when he had been teleported out by the Arena. The same position he had been in as he stared at Paragon’s departing figure.
Charles let out a deep breath. There was a bed not too far in front of him, and he started walking towards it. However, he had just taken a single step when he suddenly started to fall forward.
Just as he was about to end up face first on the floor, a set of arms wrapped around him from behind causing him to stop falling. Someone had embraced him from behind.
A drop of blood dripped down to the ground. Charles was bleeding from his nose.
"Charles." a beautiful feminine voice sounded from behind him.
He smiled and shook his head saying, "It’s alright Ginny, I just need to sit down."
She helped him to the bed, then went to get him some water.
Charles watched the beautiful young lady as she handed him the glass. He took a sip.
She broke the silence and said, "I knew something was wrong when I saw your illusion fall apart."
Charles lowered the glass and shook his head lightly. "I underestimated him."
She asked worriedly, "Are you alright?"
Charles closed his eyes and said, "I’m facing the effects of a backlash, but I will be fine after some rest."
"Just how strong is he?" the lady inquired as she took a seat beside him.
But Charles just shook his head and sighed. "To be perfectly honest, I don’t know. I let my guard down and completely immersed myself into that illusion, so when he somehow reflected it all back on me I took the full brunt of my own attack."
He added. "Actually I’m quite lucky this happened in the Arena. If it weren’t for the Arena and the fact that it was my own magic power rebounding then the illusion would not have been the only thing to collapse. My mind would have also collapsed."
