CHAPTER 381: REVISED: VOLUME 5, CHAPTER 14, A TRACE OF WARMTH_3
One should know that Reinhardt’s elite Mythical Army is his greatest reliance at this moment. It is a sword hanging over the heads of all the Gazalin Army members who have pledged allegiance to him, a bargaining chip in cooperation with Desic, and a trump card to make a decisive blow at critical moments!
But what can the Mythical Army do without the [Vajra]? Reuse the [Demon Tiger] or beg Desic for new Combat Mechas?
Reinhardt was trembling and breaking out in a cold sweat with anger. Luckily, this defect was discovered now; if it were found out during a decisive battle between the Mythical Army and the enemies who knew about this flaw, it would be too late! He gritted his teeth, glaring at the direction from which the sounds of clash were coming. If that [Magic Beast] were in front of him, he would pounce on it without hesitation and tear it to pieces!
Layer upon layer of Mythical Mechas still couldn’t stop the [Magic Beast]’s assault. They pounced one after another, but were broken through and knocked down!
That ghostly [Magic Beast] rampaged through the Mecha Group, moving so quickly like lightning, like a meteor, always turning into a Phantom before anyone could react. It would charge into the densest formation of Mechas, sticking to each [Vajra] in the ugliest positions. Energy cannon fire rarely hit it accurately, with the only hits being taken by the unfortunate [Vajras] used as shields!
It was too ugly, too despicable, too sinister! The Mythical Soldiers were furious.
They watched in anger as their comrades were incapacitated by that [Magic Beast], getting a tap on its rear and losing combat ability. They saw that [Magic Beast] adopting extremely ugly postures to hide among the Mecha Group, using the left-and-right swaying [Vajras] as shields against incoming cannon fire. They also watched as this Mecha, seemingly heroic, would never face more than two Mechas simultaneously!
At the same time, the angry Mythical Soldiers were also utterly shocked!
The movement technique and actions of this [Magic Beast] had exceeded their common understanding. In its ugly dodging and leaping, they felt a sense of fear and powerlessness!
They couldn’t get close enough, couldn’t pull away, couldn’t hit with ranged attacks, and couldn’t win in close combat! How could they fight this battle?!
As they saw the [Magic Beast] break into the canyon, the angry and shocked Mythical Soldiers heard Reinhardt’s calm voice: "Withdraw, let him through!"
Like a receding tide, the Mythical Soldiers retreated, their eyes fixed on the golden Sun God at the distant mountaintop. In the face of this deity, everyone was a mere mortal! No one could defeat him; a Level 9 Mecha Warrior here was a god!
*********
The waterfall on the cliff cascaded down before their eyes, crashing into the small river below, spraying a mist that spread and twisted in the air. Through the mist and waterfall, Bonnie bit her lip hard, watching the twisted silhouette of the battered [Magic Beast] walk past, distorted by the water.
Behind the waterfall was a cave in the cliff, though more like a shallow recess. Concealed by the trees growing on the waterfall and cliff walls, it was particularly hidden. The cold river and cliff were the best covers to avoid thermal detection.
Holding her trembling shoulders, Bonnie curled up, shivering not only from the cold but also from witnessing the [Magic Beast] breaking through the blockade.
Through the gap in the water curtain, formed by a protruding rock, she clearly saw how the [Magic Beast] broke through. Its movements were odd and ugly, yet its advance was resolute and swift. Amidst the heavy enemy presence, it was like a fearless hero.
It charged in right before her eyes, the [Vajras] swarming it layer upon layer unable to form the slightest deterrent. On the long path of its advance, dozens of Mechas lay fallen.
Bonnie knew clearly why the [Magic Beast] came here. Her mind was in turmoil, various thoughts growing like weeds, intertwining, making it impossible to distinguish. However, one feeling was unmistakable: behind this cold waterfall, she felt a hint of warmth.
