CHAPTER 114: EVERYTHING THAT HE THREW

Thereaelyn’s POV

My fingers were trembling as I typed in each password. When the screen blinked at the correct password. I was dazed for a moment, unable to understand why my birthday was the password. Why did he change it from our anniversary date to my freaking birthday?

My emotions were a chaotic mix of dread and something I didn’t want to dwell on but there wasn’t time to waste. The door immediately clicked open and I immediately shut off the laptop.

Raphael stepped out of his hazel eyes, zeroed in on me immediately. I tried to keep my chaotic heartbeat in check and stop my emotions from spilling to my face but that didn’t work at the most critical time

I felt like I had forgotten all my praised acting skills. "What are you doing?" He calmly said, but I still flinched in response, bumping into the table. My elbow accidentally knocked over his coffee cup, and it fell on the ground, splashing scalding coffee on my hand. At the same moment, I noticed an old picture of Raphael and me from university, placed on his table.

Was he doing this to keep the impression of us being happy for the public?

I backed away, flinching.

Raphael grabbed my hand, and my heart almost leapt out. When did he get all the way over here? "Still as clumsy as ever." He hissed the tugging my hand dragging me to the restroom ignoring the coffee that spilt on the floor

The restroom smelled like a lavender sweet air freshener. My heart was drumming, I was scared and puzzled by his actions and that look of fright in his eyes.

"The cold water should help." He said turning on the faucet and placing my hand under the water. The cool sensation of the water immediately eased the burning. Raphael stood behind me diligently holding my hand under the faucet. Some water splashed to the end of his sleeves but he didn’t seem to care.

I slowly glanced up at the mirror to see our reflection. He was standing behind, body pressed so close I could feel the heat from his skin and his familiar cologne. He didn’t reek of Amelia’s perfume today. That was a scent that was getting latched to him nowadays.

He was staring intently at my hand. As if he noticed my gaze in the mirror. He glanced up and our eyes met. I quickly averted my eyes, unable to understand this man.

At times, he still behaved like the man I fell in love with, and other times, he was a complete stranger. Was this some act because I was with Lucien? His ego could accept it.

"What were you doing?" He asked again. This time his voice was a bit gentle. I was staring at my hand in the sink. "I came to present the report you requested," I said feeling uncomfortable by how close and dominant his presence was.

His expression was calm. For a moment, the only thing that could be heard was the sound of the water, the air circulator, and my heartbeat.

"You didn’t have to go over to the other side of my desk, Braelyn ", he stated as a matter of fact. "What were you truly doing?" He asked, leaning toward my neck. His nose brushed against my skin sending chills down my spine.

His voice dipped into a low conspiratory tone that almost sounded seductive. " Don’t make me ask again because there are a lot of things I could do to you in that short skirt." One of his hands slipped through my hand and tugged the hem of my skirt.

I shouldn’t have listened to Lucien and worn this skirt. "What were you doing?" He drawled

I gulped, hating the feeling of his hand close to my skin, hating how familiar it felt. "I couldn’t help myself," I admitted and something lit in his eyes.

"Really..." He said

I gulped, what was wrong with me? I have thought of something more creative to say.

"That picture.." I started swallowing a hard gulp. "Why do you still have that picture Raph?" I said and he froze letting go of my skirt but his presence still remained close

"Is there something wrong with me having a picture of my wife? Or it reminds you of something." He stated. I turned around after switching the faucet.

His hand was holding the side of the sink, trapping me between his heated gaze. I smiled, "It does remind me of something."

His gaze shifted. My lips parted, then I added, ignoring how good he smelled or the minty scent of breath mingling with mine.

"It reminds me of everything you threw away Raphael." His breath hitched. He was stunned, his grip loosened and I easily shoved him off

"The burning sensation has stopped. I will be heading to my office. I still have work to do. I know you are smart enough to figure out the report on your own." I said standing at the door

He finally moved, what he said next was a bit unexpected. "You spent the night at his place...what happened last night when you disappeared?"

I took in a deep breath as the memories flooded. "It’s nothing interesting to you. It was just a failed kidnapping incident, and yes, I spent the night at his place and it might be a common occurrence ." I answered before adding.

"I don’t know why I am telling you this, Raphael, but I might not return home for some days to give you and Amelia space to continue your baby-making goal." I chimed before walking out, trying to shrug off the feeling of his gaze on my back.

When I arrived at my office, Juliet’s eyes immediately flickered. "Someone is waiting inside for you."

My head was still in the clouds after what happened with Raphael, so I failed to ask who. I pushed the door open and immediately spotted the figure sitting next to my desk.

"You spent an awfully long time at his office, Lynn," he drawled. My eyes narrowed at Lucien. Confused why he was here? He should have paperwork to attend to

"What are you doing here Mr Volkov? You are awfully free to be an executive." I sneered at him as I walked towards him. He smiled softly. "That’s not a fun way to talk to your lover."Then grabbed my hand, tugging me towards him and next I was settled on his thighs

My heart skipped a beat, he leaned down and sniffed my hair. I clutched his shirt, but I was nervous and excited.

"You act like you missed me. This is a place of work we can’t bring the act here." I sneered acting like his actions weren’t doing things I didn’t want to explain to me

"What if I do? After all, I can’t forget that crazy BJ from this morning." My face immediately burned. This pervert

Before I could retort he cut me off. "You reek of a man’s cologne," he stated slowly, meeting my gaze. His eyes were dark.

My stomach dropped. How was it possible he picked that up? "I have a good nose Lyn. It is Raphael’s cologne, isn’t it?"

I couldn’t say a thing. I was scared like my husband caught me cheating with my lover but this was the exact opposite.

"Why did you let him touch you?" His hand slipped under my skirt. "It makes me want to punish you for it. " He hissed

I panicked and the words slipped out.

"It’s nothing and besides, he is my husband." Why did I say that?

The air grew heavy with an ominous aura shrouding him. He was mad. "I guess I am a jealous lover Lynn.." he chuckled but there was no amusement in it
