CHAPTER 45: SHOPPING SPREE

Braelyn’s POV

"Why do you know so much about them?" I blurted, Genevieve drew in a deep breath.

"It’s a long story but my family once had dealings with an Orlov. You probably don’t know much about them because of the rivalry between the Volkovs and the Orlovs. They don’t roll in the same circle and rumours have it that they have a deep grudge between them." She explained with a serious tone..

Her reply ended up throwing me deeper into the pit. Was it really a coincidence? The more I thought about it the more my brain cells rot.

But one thing was certain, I had to avoid Erica. "I had no idea " I muttered

Genny sighed. "It’s expected. You don’t like attending social events and spend most of your time with work..." She paused, and his gaze softened.

"Enough of all these depressing thoughts. We are here to have fun. I already," she grabbed my wrist, pulling me out of that depressing hallway.

When Genny mentioned we should have fun she meant every word of it. Our first agenda item of the day was a makeover. It’s been ages since I fixed my hair.

We had a great time at the salon picking our hair styles, choosing fun manicures and pedicures to do. She was determined to make me forget my asshole husband, which I appreciate.

I wanted to dye my black hair blonde, but the hairstylist was completely against it. Apparently, it was pretty hard to dye black hair because of how dark it was. I don’t know if she was telling the truth or if she really didn’t want to dye it

"What product do you use? You have very pretty hair. " She praised me while trimming my edges. I smiled, almost grinning like a cat that doesn’t like a little bit of compliments.

"I have my daddy to thank. I inherited his hair." I chimed, Genny laughed at my smug comments.

"Let’s hope you don’t go bald before 50," she snickered, earning a sharp glare from me. She didn’t blink but continued outrightly laughing at my face.

She was getting her nails cleaned by a particular pretty boy, whom she specifically asked for. Genny might not look like it, but she has a weak soft spot for pretty faces.

She would gladly date a player as long as he was pretty, and weirdly, people always assumed she was les because of her height and weird sense of fashion, but only if they knew how many boyfriends she had.

I was certain she had a thing for that boy doing her manicure. My poor baby, didn’t she know that most salon boys might be gay?

I rolled my eyes at her comment. "My dad didn’t go bald even at the age of 70." I sneered at her. The rest of our appointment was laughs and giggles.

After getting my hair fixed, I was truly astonished. A professional would always beat an amateur. It has been ages since I got a proper hairdo because of work

Genny’s annoying voice chirped next to my ears. "We know you are pretty but we still have to move." She grumbled, shoving me away from the mirror.

Next, we were in an Uber heading to her next location. She was busy making appointments on her phone with a cheesy grin that made me certain she was up to absolutely no good.

"That look is never a good thing." I shook my head glancing over to the window. She giggled, her sly voice made it certain I was right.

"Don’t worry you will love tonight’s surprise." She chimed excitedly. I was curious what she was up to.

Our next stop was the mall, and Genny literally dragged me to the clothing store. "I honestly don’t want new clothes," I stated the fact as we wove our way through the busy crowd.

Normally, my wardrobe was changed periodically without me ever bothering to go to the store. I didn’t go to the store but the store came to me. The servants normally handled the picking process because once again I was swamped in work

She glanced back at me, "It’s not about the clothes but the process. I call it retail therapy, and besides, it will be fun swiping Raphael’s card for revenge." She winked at me

That was right, we were charging everything on his card. It was Genny’s suggestion, but I doubt Raphael might notice. He will probably be too busy with Amelia to bother about such trivial matters.

We arrived at Genny’s favourite store. Every inch of this place screamed luxury from the decor to the staff’s conduct. Genny was an exclusive member, being a regular, but she chose to shop normally instead of using the VIP room.

"What do you think we should start with?" She asked me, her eyes were literally sparkling as she looked at the new collection.

"I have no idea," I honestly blurted while we browsed through the gown session. There were a lot of dinner gowns I would love to wear, but what was the need to buy them when I was going anywhere?

"How about you check out winter clothes? It will be snowing any time from now." A sales girl suggested, Genny’s eyes crinkled

"No, do you have any dress worth turning your head for?" She suggested that the salesgirl didn’t get her at first until she whispered into the salesperson’s ear.

The sales girl nodded in understanding, "Please follow me this way," she urged us

She led us to another side of the store, and Genny could not stop her grin. "These are the dresses." The salesgirl announced, pointing out the racks.

Genny immediately started picking out dress after dress. She didn’t even give me a chance to look at what she picked. "Go try them on." She dumped them on my arm then shoved me towards the dressing room.

Genny was acting too suspicious and I knew why the moment I finally got a good look at the dress. My eyes twitched, staring at the dress that was too short and a bit too revealing.

Not only was it not my style, but I swore Genny was probably recruiting me as a hooker.

I knew Genevieve was never to be trusted.
