Chapter 55: Surprise at the hotel
CHAPTER 55: SURPRISE AT THE HOTEL
Braelyn’s POV
Joey didn’t show up until I left his villa and Genny didn’t show any intentions of apologizing. We ended up splitting ways from Joey’s villa.
Unlike the nosy Genny I knew, she didn’t ask me any questions about what happened last night, although she was kind of in a hurry to go for a shoot.
There was a soft knock on the door, I instinctively knew it was Lucien. "Come in," I muttered and the door was pushed open.
He stood at the door, slouched against the frame, dressed casually in trousers and a T-shirt, with a carefree expression like nothing mattered to him in this world.
"You don’t mind me Intruding." He mentioned, his gaze landed on me. I was standing next to the bed trying to organize my stuff before leaving.
I glanced over my shoulder to meet his gaze. There was a faint crease between his brows. He looked worried. "When did you start caring about others’ opinions?" I asked him.
The one person who didn’t care how much he crossed my boundaries. There was a faint smile on his face. "I’m not all bad, you know," Lucien mentioned as he stalked into the room with his hand in his pocket.
"I can see you are ready to leave. How is your leg now? I observed you were having difficulties moving earlier." He added casually taking a seat on the bed..
I sighed after zipping my bag, then sat by his side. "I never said you are all bad, and besides, you do make good pancakes, that’s a good side you can cook," I said, I could notice his gaze wasn’t on my face but my leg that had some reddish and blue marks
Luckily, there wasn’t any inflammation, but it still aches. "My legs still ache badly. I was thinking I would drop by the hospital before heading home."
Lucien squatted before me to have a better look at my leg. "It doesn’t look too bad. " He said poking the spot. I gritted my teeth to control pain.
"It still hurts " I managed to say. His face went stern. He carefully pulled my bare feet up, placing them across his thighs as he sat back on the bed.
Lucien pulled out a small balm container from his pocket and started applying the ointment on the area while massaging the spot. He was careful not to apply too much pressure. He used a precise amount of force that still hurt but was bearable.
"This will hurt a bit. If it’s too much inform me." He casually mentioned. I watched him as he worked his fingers with dedication. He looked more handsome from the angle.
It was a pity he quit medicine, his patients would have appreciated this view a lot. I wondered what he was up to after throwing away 6 years of his life just to prove his family wrong.
"Ouch," I winced when he touched a sharp shot.
"Sorry, "Lucien immediately apologized, still focused on the massage. "Just bear with me."
I nodded, the pain was already subsiding. Not only was he a good cook, but he could also give a proper massage. I could see why he was a charmer.
Lucien slowly raised his gaze, our eyes met for a moment, and I was dazzled by his hazel eyes. I slowly averted my eyes not missing the smile on his lips.
"Why did Raphael call you last night?" I asked, trying to shift my focus. There wasn’t any shift in him. Like he expected the question or it was nothing special
"I was expecting you to ask that earlier." He chimed. My lips pursed.
"Are you calling me nosy?" I couldn’t help but ask him. He slowly shook his head
"I didn’t say that either and there isn’t much to talk about. Don’t bother about the phone call." He quickly evaded the question. I wasn’t in a position to force him to say anything.
He wasn’t my actual boyfriend just a ploy set up to fool Raphael.
"I’m done." He stood up leaving my leg suspended on the bed. "You shouldn’t move for a bit. I will get you some painkillers." He instructed walking towards the bed
"Thank you," I blurted. Lucien stopped a tired sigh slipped out of his lips.
"This isn’t much." He replied before glancing at me. "Before I forget, I will be dropping you off, and I am not taking no for an answer." He left before I could retort.
He returned with the painkillers as promised, and half an hour later, after they took effect, we left Joey’s place. We were going to the hotel first to grab my things before heading to the place I called home
The entire ride back was suffocating Lucien didn’t say a word.
From the way his hand clenched the steering wheel and those tense jaws, I was certain he had more than enough to say, but rather not. A part of me appreciated the fact that he didn’t say anything. I needed this calm before the storm.
Lucien slowed down in the car pack. The quiet hum of the engine hung before us before I decided to break the static..
"Are you waiting here or coming with me?" I asked him while unbuckling my belt.
"You don’t expect me to let you go by yourself. How will you carry your stuff with that leg?" He asked. We both stepped out of the car and headed inside
It was a Sunday, and the hotel’s lobby was pretty busy since it was close to the airport. The elevator hummed softly as it rose. We were standing at the back. Lucien reached out for my hand as if protecting me from the crowd
By the time we arrived at the intended floor, the elevator was already empty. The door slid open and we stepped out heading from the room.
"775," I muttered staring at the similar doors until I arrived at the one with the number 775.
I reached out to open the door with the key card but was stopped by Lucien. His hand was placed in front of me
"Give me the card." He cautiously said as if he noticed something amidst. I didn’t argue and handed over the card.
The door beeped and Lucien pushed it open slowly. He stepped into the suite first. His frame blocked my view.
" I hope you didn’t have anything of value here," Lucien mentioned. My brows furrowed, I stepped beside him to have a good view of the room, and for a moment, my brain shut down.
The entire room was in chaos, flipped upside down.
