Chapter 211: The Wedding [1]
CHAPTER 211: THE WEDDING [1]
After waiting for half an hour, Lili returned with a bright smile.
She quickly rushed towards Akamir as she exclaimed.
"I found it!"
Akamir also got affected by her mood as he smiled as well.
But Lili didn’t smile for long before her face fell once again.
"But there is a problem." She mumbled. "That place is filled with people."
Akamir frowned. "What do you mean?"
"It’s as I say." She grumbled softly. "The Church has hundreds of people inside it."
’Ah, it’s a church. Of course there is.’
He rubbed his temples as he let out a tired sigh.
Still he didn’t lose hope as he looked at her once again. "Can you take me where it is?"
Lili nodded with a smile. "Okay!"
Akamir nodded as he moved towards the window where Lili zapped to.
When he looked back Sephrina was standing right in front of him.
"Be safe." She said, keeping a straight face.
Akamir nodded as he jumped back and grabbed another window frame.
He quickly got down from the building as he began to sneak out of the palace.
---
The streets outside the palace were quiet despite it being the daytime.
Akamir had covered himself with a black robe as he walked.
Though his short childlike stature made it hard to ignore him.
The fairy darted between rooftops, waiting for him whenever he slowed down.
She was fast but Akamir wasn’t keeping up with her.
His gaze was on something else.
’This is weird.’
Akamir thought as he looked at those few people that were moving around.
Unlike any normal person their body was translucent.
It was as if their life was being snatched away from them.
’...This is really... really weird.’
Seeing this, there was only one thing that came in Akamir’s mind.
’...They are dying in real world.’
Akamir wasn’t sure how many people Kros had under his control.
It could be a few, a thousand or maybe the entire city.
But one thing was sure....
’It’s slowly killing all those who are attached to her.’
All this because a pervert wanted to marry someone whom he had known since childhood.
’..Urgh, I hope I can kill him soon enough.’
Akamir didn’t like Lewin one bit...the man was far more dangerous to the society.
’Not to mention, I can’t grow in Elven kingdom properly as long as he is there.’
Akamir glanced around as Guards patrolled in pairs.
He avoided them with ease, slipping between alleys and scaling walls where needed.
Before long, the tall spire of the church came into view.
Its bell tower loomed over the city, pale moonlight catching the cross at its peak.
The sound of low chanting drifted through the night air, faint but steady.
"There it is," Lili whispered, floating back to his shoulder.
Akamir studied the building from the shadows of an abandoned stall.
Torches lined the front gates, and indeed, dozens of people were gathered outside—kneeling, praying, or waiting for entry.
The atmosphere was tense, as though everyone had been summoned for something important.
Akamir rubbed his chin, eyes narrowing. "So many in the middle of the day."
He stepped back into the alley, motioning for Lili to dim her glow. "Looks like this won’t be as simple as walking in."
"What should we do?" Lili asked softly.
Akamir’s gaze lingered on the church doors, on the faint golden symbols etched into the frame.
He wasn’t sure what he would see inside the church and with how the things were...
’I am sure there is definitely something fucked up inside of it.’
He rubbed his chin as he looked at the side where he found a few glass windows.
Akamir slowly moved as he slipped past the worshippers as he reached the window.
He peeked inside of the church and was immediately frozen by the sight.
’...What the hell?’
There were soldiers inside—hundreds if not more.
All of them standing around a tall door that was etched within the end of the long hall.
’...What the hell could be inside of it?’
Akamir was really curious but he also wasn’t in the mood of fighting so many soldiers.
’...Looks like I just can’t go in and check for myself.’
If he wanted to go inside then he would have to find the right opportunity.
He let out a sigh as he began to move back to the palace once again.
Lili was seated on his shoulder as she asked. "Are we not going in?"
"Yeah. No." Akamir replied to her. "We can’t right now."
Lili nodded as she quickly changed the topic. "Where is Saia?"
"I can’t connect with her." Akamir replied. "But she should be safe. Hopefully."
Lili gave him a side eye as she asked. "Where does she live anyway?"
Akamir shrugged. "Where the other fairies live."
Lili paused before she exclaimed. "You have other fairies!?"
"Yeah." Akamir replied. "Once we are out of here, I can bring you to meet them."
Her small eyes sparkled with happiness. "Really?"
"Only if you don’t tell it to Sephrina." Akamir replied, looking at her. "I don’t want to share my secrets with her yet."
Lili nodded with a serious face. "I will never tell her anything."
Akamir nodded back as he thought. ’Well, I hope she would be helpful.’
---
It only took him a few minutes to return back to the palace as he jumped back to the room.
When Akamir returned he was immediately greeted by Sephrina.
"How did it go?" She asked, looking at him expectantly.
"It looks like we would need to wait till the wedding." Akamir replied.
Sephrina’s face turned pale at the thought of the wedding.
But she quickly got a hold of herself as she nodded. "I understand."
She then gave Akamir a deep look. "I would be putting my life in your hand." She said. "Please help me get back to my kingdom."
Akamir smiled as he nodded. "Of course, Empress Sephrina."
---
[On the other side of the Palace.]
Lewin quietly sat in the throne room as he stared at nothing but emptiness.
The soldiers around him moved and the priest was trembling from his presence but he wasn’t focusing on them.
He was focusing on the mirror that was placed on the ceiling.
"Your majesty." The priest shook, breaking his attention. "We can conduct the wedding the day after tomorrow."
Lewin nodded in response as he said. "Anything else?"
The priest hesitated before he spoke. "...Uh, it seems the goddess isn’t happy with your decision."
His fingers tapped the edge of the throne slowly, each beat like a countdown.
The priest shifted nervously under his gaze. "She... she refuses to descend into the statue," he continued, his voice barely above a whisper. "The divine blessing is not being accepted."
Lewin closed his eyes.
"...It doesn’t matter."
"But, Your Majesty—"
"I said," Lewin repeated, his voice firm, "it doesn’t matter."
The priest immediately dropped to his knees, head low.
Lewin stood from his throne.
"If the goddess disapproves," Lewin said calmly, "then perhaps I no longer require her approval."
The priest flinched but dared not speak again.
Within the ’fake’ World, Lewin was the first to enter.
He was the first to come in this world that resembled his own with only one difference that Kros was a goddess here.
Everyone worshipped her, every single soul.
And Lewin used her for his own gain as he declared himself as king appointed by Kros herself.
In the end he began trying to take out the World and become the new king here.
Perhaps that was the way to take back his body and Powers of Kros.
But....
Everything changed when he found Sephrina was in this world as well.
His obsession with her took over his reasoning even though he was close to his goal.
Lewin turned and walked toward the window, the sunlight barely casting a glow on his figure.
"Make sure everything is ready. The wedding will happen the day after tomorrow."
"Yes... Yes, Your Majesty."
"And," Lewin added without turning, "increase the patrols around the church. No one gets near that door."
The priest quickly moved out of the throne room as Lewin stared into nothingness.
Because...there he could see it.
In the reflection of the mirror he could see himself completely bound with thousands of tentacles.
Those tentacles that belonged to Kros who was firmly holding him.
"You can’t have my body."
Lewin growled as he tried to remove those tentacles but his hand moved past it.
"YOU COULD NEVER GET MY BODY!!!"
He yelled from the top of his lungs as he snapped completely.
Grabbing his throne he threw it on the mirror shattering it all over.
His gaze once again fell on the piece of mirror where he saw the smiling face of Kros.
"I will kill you."
Lewin growled stepping over the mirror, crushing it.
"I WILL BE THE ONE WHO WALKS OUT AS THE NEW GOD!!"
His voice echoed within the entire throne room.
