Chapter 111 - 111 111 Unsmooth
111: Chapter 111: Unsmooth 111: Chapter 111: Unsmooth In No.1 High School’s campus, in front of Director Tao’s office, Chen Hai had been pacing for quite a while.
When he had arrived here, it was just shy of nine o’clock.
But now, it was nearly ten o’clock, and the door to the office in front of Chen Hai was still tightly locked.
Since it was the summer holidays, it was normal for there to be few people working in the school office building.
However, yesterday Director Tao himself had said to Chen Hai and another to come and find him this morning.
By now, Chen Hai was already growing somewhat impatient.
He even began to wonder if he had misunderstood what Director Tao had said yesterday!
“Master Chen, hello, hello, have you been waiting long?”
Just past ten o’clock, Director Tao, with hands clasped behind his back, leisurely walked towards Chen Hai and finally came into view.
Upon seeing Chen Hai, he quickened his steps, his face full of smiles, as he came over to greet him.
“Brother Tao, you’re a busy man, surely occupied with many things,” Chen Hai responded.
“I also just arrived here, and have been waiting for less than ten minutes!”
Though unhappy inside, Chen Hai still maintained a smile on his face and exchanged pleasantries.
“During the summer break, there’s not much going on, so I generally don’t come to the office.”
“I told you yesterday to come find me this morning, and I’ve kept it in mind.”
“Here I am, taking a moment from my busy schedule.
I’m glad you didn’t have to wait too long, Master Chen!”
Director Tao, all smiles, opened the office door and invited Chen Hai inside.
“Brother Tao, about the matter you mentioned before we left yesterday…”
Seated on the wooden sofa inside the office, Chen Hai handed a cigarette to Director Tao and tentatively began to inquire.
“Master Chen, about yesterday’s issue, I talked to our leaders and they were very interested and quite satisfied with the results.”
“I spoke highly on your behalf regarding the consultancy fee, but leadership only mentioned they need to discuss it further without giving a definite answer.”
“I thought I could have secured that money for you today, but unfortunately, I overestimated my abilities.”
“When such situations arise, there’s little I can do, as I’m merely a minor director and there are many higher-ups in the school…”
Director Tao glanced at Chen Hai and sighed.
Whether his words were true or not, only he knew.
But judging from his demeanor, the likelihood of Chen Hai securing the consultancy fee today seemed rather slim.
Upon hearing this response, Chen Hai fell silent, simply taking out another cigarette and lighting it for himself.
Providing private exorcisms might not pay well, but as long as the job is well done, people usually pay promptly.
But handling affairs for the government always complicates the payment process.
Like Director Tao’s case, creating a 20,000 receipt for a 10,000 consultancy fee was one thing, but delaying his payment was making Chen Hai truly annoyed!
After all, he was now completely out of money.
His cousin, Sun Jinzhong, didn’t have much left either.
With no money on hand, staying in Liuyuan County could be problematic with daily expenses.
He could either disturb his cousin Sun Jinzhong for a while, or he had no choice but to return to his own home in Wuyang Town.
Yesterday, in the hostel, he and Sun Jinzhong chatted about buying houses and cars, but today these plans were proving to be an important lesson.
“Master Chen, the leaders are satisfied with the school gate issue, so don’t worry about the consultancy fee.”
“There are some procedures that need to be followed for the funds to be released.”
“I assure you, it could be as little as three to five days or at most, ten days to half a month, and you will definitely have the money in your hands!”
Director Tao, constantly observing Chen Hai’s expression, quickly made this promise.
Upon hearing his words, Chen Hai’s expression eased slightly.
“In the field of Feng Shui and metaphysics, I only have a modest understanding.”
“To be honest, I’m quite average at solving problems, but I’m really good at creating them!”
“Brother Tao, I hope, as you promised, in no more than ten or eight days, I’ll successfully have that money.”
“Otherwise…”
With a slight smile, Chen Hai spoke calmly.
His manner appeared somewhat mysterious, and his words were only half-said before he stopped abruptly.
Yet, this comment gave Director Tao an inexplicable chill, even making him shiver uncontrollably.
“Master Chen, rest assured about the money.
I guarantee there will never be a situation where you don’t receive it!”
Director Tao, wiping the cold sweat from his forehead, vowed resolutely.
In the eyes of some school leaders, Chen Hai might be considered just a religious con man, someone easy to manipulate.
But Director Tao had seen his real capabilities.
Setting aside anything else, just the hideous monster that Chen Hai had manifested on the first day had circled him twice daily, potentially enough to drive him mad.
“Hopefully so, I’ll come by in a couple of days and see if there’s any good news then!”
Standing up, Chen Hai nodded and turned to walk outside.
Outside the school gates, Zeng Zhiguo’s workers were still bustling about.
Seeing Chen Hai walk out of the campus empty-handed, Hei, Wu, and a few others looked somewhat puzzled.
But Chen Hai, in a foul mood, had no interest in dealing with them.
He stepped out of No.1 High School’s gate and headed directly towards the hostel where he was staying.
Inside the hostel room, his cousin Sun Jinzhong had returned before Chen Hai.
“Cousin, how did it go?
Did you see Director Tao?”
Sun Jinzhong, legs crossed and flipping through some yellowed pages of a book, saw Chen Hai enter, immediately stood up with a big smile, and asked.
“I saw him, but Director Tao said that the payment still has to go through procedures, and we’ll have to wait a while to get it!”
Visibly upset, Chen Hai complained.
“We have to wait a few more days?
Dealing with the government, they always drag things on…”
Sun Jinzhong frowned and pouted his lips in dissatisfaction.
“Brother Zhong, was your visit to Brother Qiang successful?
Are those pages you’re holding the fragmented books he mentioned?”
Chen Hai’s gaze fixed on the papers in Sun Jinzhong’s hands.
He walked up to Sun Jinzhong and carefully took the yellowed pages into his own hands.
