CHAPTER 477: CHAPTER 25: BEATING A DOG WHEN IT’S DOWN (PART 2)
The tricycle driver searched over and over again, almost flipping over the green stone slabs laid on the street, yet he still couldn’t find his electric tricycle.
"Haha, serves you right," at the street corner, stood two people holding bags of hazelnuts, eating and clapping their hands while laughing.
The tricycle driver looked closely and hadn’t recognized the two people yet. Listening to their voices, he understood, "It’s you two! Just now, huh, it’s you two again, if I don’t teach you a lesson today, I’m not hanging around this area anymore." The tricycle driver, having lost his vehicle and thus his source of income, was infuriated and raised his fists, ready to strike.
"Go ahead and hit us, this is a public place, look how many people across the street are watching us, hit us, and you’ll be in prison tomorrow," Zhang Yiyi was not afraid of him.
The tricycle driver turned to look at the brightly lit snack street on the opposite side of the road, and indeed, many people were looking their way. He spat and made an obscene gesture towards Xiao Xian and Zhang Yiyi.
"Okay, we should head back too, just not sure how Xuerou managed things on her end?" Xiao Xian wasn’t worried about Xuerou; after dealing with the Xu siblings, Xuerou has become more methodical in handling things. Just like the lesson-teaching plan she mentioned earlier, it was flawlessly executed, not only punishing the swindler but also preventing him from committing evil in the future.
Xiao Xian and Zhang Yiyi returned to the Luori Family Apartment a little past nine, and around ten, Xuerou also came back, her expression alone indicated a successful mission.
Zhang Yiyi naively asked, "Xuerou, what did you do with that electric bicycle? Don’t let the police find it, stealing a bike can be troublesome."
"It’s wherever it should be, we’re leaving tomorrow, the police can’t catch us," Xuerou, checking their spoils of war, drew out her bag of hazelnuts and munched them delightedly.
After a good night’s sleep, the three of them were energetic early the next morning.
As mentioned earlier, the family apartments in Sunset District come with kitchens. The pots and pans there are sterilized and disinfected, and a refrigerator is provided, which is regularly stocked with local fresh fruits and eggs according to the guests’ usage and charged accordingly.
During their stay at Summer Villa, they indulged in local food for the first three days and on the morning of their departure day, proposed by Zhang Yiyi, they cooked a farewell breakfast.
Handed to Xiao Xian, her tasks were just to crack the eggs, rinse the rice, and wash the vegetables.
Xuerou went downstairs to buy buns, and Zhang Yiyi was in charge of frying eggs, cooking vegetables, and porridge.
According to Zhang Yiyi, she self-learned cooking since elementary school, a skill tested through time.
When the pressure cooker hissed joyously and the scent of fried eggs wafted in the air, Xuerou who went to buy buns hadn’t returned yet.
A little later, there was a knocking sound at the door.
Upon opening the door, there stood the security guard, the tricycle driver, and Xuerou.
The driver pointed at Xiao Xian and Zhang Yiyi, crying out, "It’s these three, two of them caused trouble at the specialty store last night and even stole my bike."
The security guard who came along had helped break up a fight the other day, needless to say, he was here to bolster the driver’s claim today.
Xiao Xian glanced at Xuerou, seeing no trace of panic on her, she responded leisurely, "Officer, we didn’t steal his bike."
"Just because you say you didn’t? I saw you guys returning in batches last night, and she came back alone. Looked everywhere for the bike, couldn’t find it. Are you going to hand over the bike, compensate for the losses, or should I report this to the police station?" The supportive security guard said, pulling out his communicator, seemingly ready to call the police.
"Wait, hold on," Xuerou burst into a panic, her face morphing into a compliant expression, as if genuinely scared of being taken to the police station.
"Humph, it’s good you admit it. Let’s settle the account then," the security guard, seeing his threats work, looked triumphantly at Xiao Xian and her friends.
Zhang Yiyi was agitated, biting her lips, tears welling up in her eyes, she shook Xiao Xian’s arm, but Xiao Xian did not respond.
"My bike was new, costing over thirty thousand yuan, and because of last night, I lost a significant customer, add five thousand for that. Plus, the inconvenience caused to the security for escorting me, another five thousand, so a total of forty thousand yuan should do," the tricycle driver, knowing the rent inside Luori Apartment, figured the three had been staying for over a week and must have some money.
"Forty thousand yuan, that’s a lot, my mom will kill me," Xuerou was "terrified" by the number. Zhang Yiyi got even more desperate, thinking to confront the issue, but Xiao Xian held her back.
"Forty thousand is actually a low estimate, if we really get the police here, you’ll end up in jail," the tricycle driver, seeing her recoil, pranced on further.
"What jail or no jail, I can’t stand this anymore, you scammers, each worse than the last. I’m going to beat you so bad today, smash your scheming mouth so you can’t even call the police," Zhang Yiyi was truly infuriated, she shook off Xiao Xian’s hand and rushed forward.
She was tall, with long legs, she started throwing punches at the shorter tricycle driver.
That slap resonated, causing the tricycle driver’s ears to ring as though thousands of flies buzzed around him. His teeth clashed against his tongue, a mix of salty, painful, and hot sensations flooding his mouth all at once.
The nearby security guard was stunned, not even noticing Xuerou snatching away his communicator. (To be continued. If you like this work, you are welcome to go to Qidian (qidian.com) to cast your recommendation ticket, monthly ticket. Your support is my greatest motivation.)
