CHAPTER 59: A BEAST EGG

"What leaf are you even talking about?" James knitted his eyebrows.

"You–!" Yvonne pointed her finger at James in anger.

"Did either of you see the leaf she mentioned?" James glanced at Ignis and Nyxrael with a calm expression.

"No!" Ignis and Nyxrael shook their heads in unison.

James then looked at Elara in his arms and asked. "Elara, did you see any leaves?"

"Leaf?" Elara showed a confused expression before shaking her head. Elara doesn’t see anything."

The trio were left speechless once again. Especially Yvonne, who had never expected that she would experience something like this.

For the first time, Guardian Lu smiled widely as he shook his head. ’I have never expected that these little brats are so shameless. It’s usually those old fogeys who would be this shameless.’

He then glanced at Lilith and Yvonne. ’Well, both of them are going to learn a lot of things and it’s a good thing for them anyway.’

"Elara, even you—" Yvonne looked at the little girl in disbelief.

Elara pointed at herself with an innocent expression. "What about me?"

"I’ll remember this!" Yvonne gritted her teeth, feeling annoyed because she was even willingly to give such a precious treasure and yet, they shamelessly took it away from her.

If it were any other precious treasures, she wouldn’t actually mind. But this leaf was truly an extremely precious treasure to the point that even the other top factions were always trying their best in getting their hands on it.

Yvonne was given three leaves by her father because he told her that if she ever met someone worthy, she could let them taste the tea and even give a small part of tea.

Not only that, one leaf was a gift for Lilith’s dad when she meets him in the future. With that, she was left with only one Aurenwood Tree’s Leaf.

Now that things have come to this, she needed to fork out another treasure on top of the leaf because she really couldn’t help herself to play with Elara and pinch her cute cheeks.

After thinking for a moment, she took out a crystal white egg around 45 cm big from her spatial ring.

As she had learned her lesson, she held it in her hands and didn’t give it to her this time.

"What about this? I’m sure that you’ll definitely love this one." Yvonne smiled, rubbing her hand on the egg’s smooth surface.

"What egg is that?" Elara’s eyes lit up, her interest was piqued when she saw the beautiful white egg in Yvonne’s hand.

"A pegasus egg." Yvonne smirked.

"What!? "The pretty flying horse!? Elara wants it!" Elara opened her arms in excitement.

Yvonne sighed in relief that this could satisfy her. Even if this thing was precious, there were still plenty of them in the Elf Kingdom and she could just ask her father to give her another one.

"So if I give you this, you’ll play with me?" Yvonne asked in confirmation since she didn’t want to be fooled once again.

"Of course! Elara will play with Big Sister Yvonne as long as she wants!" Elara squirmed in James arms before jumping down and coming to Yvonne.

Yvonne smiled happily and let go of the egg, letting it fall down to the ground as she opened her arms wide.

"Ahhhhh—" Elara screamed in pain when she saw the egg was falling down and about to hit the ground, thinking that the egg would break because of it.

Thud!

"Ehhh?" Elara was surprised when she noticed that the egg wasn’t broken at all.

Yvonne giggled in amusement. "Don’t worry. Beast eggs at this level are tougher than you think. Even if you kick it as hard as you can, it won’t break."

"Really?" Elara raised an eyebrow, then knocked the egg curiously.

"Yes!" Yvonne squatted down and pinched Elara’s cheek happily. Afterward, she picked up Elara and hugged her affectionately.

"Watch this!" Yvonne said and kicked the egg lightly to the side, hurling it a dozen meters away from them.

Then, with a wave of her hand, she created a slide that was made out of crystal-clear ice. The egg slid down smoothly toward her.

She stopped the egg with her feet and smiled. "See? I told you that this egg is really sturdy."

Elara’s attention had already completely shifted toward the slide, her eyes were sparkling with curiosity.

"Can Elara play on that slide?" Elara looked at Yvonne with a begging expression as if she would cry if her request were to be rejected.

Yvonne smiled gracefully and pinched her soft cheek. "Of course!"

She instantly adjusted the slide by making the bottom of the slide longer and small stairs leading to the top.

Elara jumped down and ran toward the staircase excitedly.

"Be careful." Ignis said worriedly when she saw Elara climb the stairs recklessly.

"Yeayyyyy!" Elara slid down excitedly, raising her hands.

James shook his head with a gentle smile. He genuinely felt happy that his little princess was enjoying herself.

However, James’ smile didn’t last long as he heard Elara’s voice.

"Brother James! Come, let’s do it together." Elara flagged down at him with a brightful face that James felt bad if he rejected her.

’How come it becomes like this? We’re here to let Ignis and Lilith spar.’ James smiled helplessly and walked toward Elara as he thought that at least he obtained a priceless treasure because of her.

So, doing such a thing was just something trivial for him since he also loved seeing his little princess happy anyway.

"Alright, alright." James chuckled.

When James slid down with the overjoyed Elara, he somehow felt something that he hadn’t felt for a while.

It was something like a refreshing feeling that he couldn’t describe.

’Well, it’s not that bad, I guess?’ James thought to himself with a faint smile.

After doing it a few more times, James finally came back to his senses when he heard Ignis’ voice. "Did you forget why we’re here?"

Then, Ignis glanced at Lilith with a smile that of someone who looked at their prey. "Let’s go."

Lilith was irritated when she saw Ignis’ expression and started to head further away from the group.
