CHAPTER 40: 450,000 DOLLAH? ARE YOU FUCKING SHITTING ME?

Four days later.

Kim Decorations.

Woo Jin, who was seated at his temporary table, was working on his computer. He was sighing with relief as his first quotation plan was finally finished. He then sent it over with one click as Suho’s company was receiving it by mail.

"Alright, I did the best I could, I can now only wait and see."

A senior designer who has helped Woo Jin in the past came walking to check on him, as he was new to the job.

"Nice job on the designs, very good. I can’t find any flaws in it."

"What about the quotation? The canteen in 150 or so square meters should not be that high."

The senior curiously asked, and then Woo Jin opened on the quotation page.

450,000???

A canteen? Interior only? 450,000 dollah? Are you fucking shitting me?

He was so confused that he told Woo Jin to get up, and he sat and checked the item used in the canteen design.

The senior designer finally understood why it was costing this much money. Every item that was used in this design was top-notch, like ’A’ grade environment-friendly paint, eye-protective lights, and tiles all pure stone cut. All the items are expensive as fuck.

These items alone will not cost him $450,000.

He then searched deep and saw Woo Jin has quoted several centralized ACs in his list, which was $100,000.

Ha! What he has done is what we call a rookie mistake in this line. Companies, although they tell us to install AC, usually only do it for decoration purposes, it is to please a big client or to show off. For a small factory like that, a small air conditioner is usually provided just to show the AC is working so that the monthly bill can be controlled."

"Little Brother Woo Jin, The price you gave is too high. You should change it before sending, as it might get rejected before even making it to the boss’s desk."

The senior designer said with a smile that he genuinely wanted to help out Woo Jin.

"Ah! But I have already sent it."

Senior Designer sighed and patted Woo Jin on the shoulder while standing up from his chair.

"You’re still too young to understand. Although customers ask for a grand this and that, at the end of it all, it comes down to the price. When they see a quotation out of their budget, they will instantly discard it, no matter what kind of item you add."

Senior said he has accumulated this kind of experience after working on this line for fifteen years. The customer is always like, "Yeah, make it grand, make it super good looking," but changes their mind when they see the price tag on each item. They will always go with the cheapest shit out there, so in the interior designer world, it’s always the cheapest that wins.

"Boss, here are the quotations and floor plans from the companies that came, they have all sent the quotation price."

Cho Rin came over with lots of printed papers and put them in front of Suho, who was sleeping on the couch.

"Um..."

Suho woke up and then looked through the documents, he was just flipping the papers to find the most expensive one.

Cho Rin was becoming very good at her job, she stapled the pages together, the important details were marked with highlighter, and she worked hard on this—it was clear proof.

Well, she has worked hard and is gaining experience every day. How can I still pay her $6000?

The system didn’t buzz, which means he was right, he can increase her salary.

"Very good job. It seems you are very capable now, I can trust you."

"Thank you, Boss, I am trying my best."

Cho Rin smiled, she was not sure where this compliment was coming from, but she was sure her homework was paying off.

Who doesn’t like to be complimented?

"Well, next month, I will increase your salary to $8000 per month. You don’t need to justify your work with a certificate anymore with this company."

Suho said with a smile he was actually quite sad the system won’t let him give out more.

" Eh! "

Cho Rin was shocked, she looked at Suho with disbelief, she looked confused and happy at the same time.

"Boss, did you just say you would increase my salary?"

"Yes, you were actually not a permanent employee, as I would have fired you if you were a bit sloppy, but you proved yourself worthy. You do most of the work silently and alone, so a salary increase is justified."

"But it’s too early, right?"

Cho Rin asked, she was confused and also very happy about her salary increase.

"No, as I said, if you were a bit sloppy, forget about increasing your salary. I would have fired you, but you are good. With risk comes profit, so you earned profit this time."

"Now, go work and do your thing, I will look at the quotation by myself."

Suho said he also dismissed her before she said something that might make him unable to pay her more or outright cancel her increase.

Cho Rin nodded her head and vowed to work even harder, as Suho was an admirable boss, and he also shows genuine care about his employees.

Suho frowned, the more he looked at the quotation papers, the angrier he got. He had looked through five to six files already, the highest quote was $200,000.

The brands used in the material were indeed brands, but they were not like those big brands, they tried to cheapen it as much as possible.

Suho picked up more and more, and every one of them had the same problem: every one of them was cheaper than his expectation.

As he was getting frustrated by how cheap every company was, he suddenly saw a gem among the file.

It was surprisingly higher than usual and was marked with red highlighter.

$450,000

This is more than double if I compare it with other companies.

Suho, seeing the price, opened the whole file and saw the brand names he knew were actually mentioned here.

Oh! There are still people left who understand my words. Nice, I thought I was the one who fucked it up.

Suho nodded his head, he was satisfied. He dumped every other file in the trash, as they were trash, they didn’t listen to a word he said.

Suho called Cho Rin over and showed her the Kim Decoration file happily.

"This is it."

"Boss, it seems you have made up your mind."

Cho Rin looked at the file in Suho’s hand, she was actually curious about which company her boss would choose.

She liked most of the companies that had sent the decoration plan, except for one company, who were mostly out to loot, they submitted a ridiculous amount as their budget.

She even marked the price with her red highlighter as she tried to look at the paper. In Suho’s hand, she immediately saw the red mark on it.

Boss has chosen this overpriced company, is it that good?

Suho handed the file to Cho Rin happily, as she can deal with the rest now. After taking the file in her hand, Cho Rin actually went to the computer and searched the items used in the quotation, she had never heard of such big brands before.

So there is a legitimate reason for it to be that expensive.

As I guessed, Boss really does care about us employees, he could have chosen the easy way out, but even the bathrooms were using expensive toilets.

Suho was very different from a typical boss, a normal boss promises everything and gives nothing, while Suho promises a little, but he does it as much as he can.

Boss is boss, he does not joke around.

As she thought about this, her mouth curled up in a big smile, as she can depend on such a boss more.

She directly called Kim Decorations.

Kim’s decorations.

Woo Jin, who looked defeated before the battle even began, was seated in his chair and looking at the screen. He was looking at the quotation he sent. Ever since the senior designer said his one will fail for sure because he didn’t use interior designer common sense, he felt this way.

He was actually waiting for a call, which he was sure was not going to come, as he had made a huge blunder.

I guess I will just be the temporary worker here.

"Hey, Did you receive any response yet?"

That senior designer asked as he was going for a coffee.

" No "

Woo Jin said he was disheartened and also not that motivated.

"I understand. Then you won’t receive any calls. As a senior, I can tell if a client would take this long to reply, it means he’s not replying at all."

"Work hard for the next opportunity, don’t waste your time like this."

Senior patted his shoulder, then left to get his coffee.

"I know. Thank you."

Woo Jin said he really was grateful for this senior who would give him advice out of nowhere, till now the senior was not even once wrong.

"Hey, next time ask the whole office before submitting a quotation."

Another senior said he was trying to help actually.

"I will."

Woo Jin said he was really grateful that he has such immense support even in a corporate job.

Just as Woo Jin was about to stand up to get himselfa coffee as well, his official phone rang.

Woo Jin saw it was a call coming from the Steel Cup T-Shirt Factory.
