Danmachi- Hell’s Forge
Big barrier
BIG BARRIER
After that nothing really changed despite the vast majority of gods in the world looking for the source of the disturbance in fate. As that grand concept settled down the trail grew colder and colder until it simply couldn't be followed anymore. I got a good laugh at all the jobs posted on the wall in the guild asking for any information on the matter by various gods, including Ouranos himself. Neither Hephaestus or Freya spread out the information that I was responsible for it though Freya did sort of blackmail me into making a weapon for Ottar in exchange.-
I had to give her an I.O.U though as my entire supply of cursed stones had been depleted with the creation of Shine and Shade. Despite that I didn't need them for what came next on my agenda, making that damned barrier already. I had already made the barrier stakes that would line the edges of our property and only had to modify the gate arch to allow a single opening in the barrier at that location. Beyond that it was simply a matter of moving the monster rex cursed stones into place to take the strain of the vast amount of cursed energy they'd be channeling into the barrier.-
The stone I got from Amphisbaena would be going at the top of the tree growing on top of the church part of our manor that was both the center and highest point of out property. That stone was going to be taking the brunt of the strain as the biggest and strongest of all the rex cursed stones. The design I was working with would have the four Goliath stones circling the Amphisbaena stone on the ground of our properties edges to serve as reverse energy channeling points for the barrier.-
I went DEEP into the symbolism here as I had to find the exact positioning for the north, west, south and east points of the property. From there I made special metal braziers that connected the goliath stones energy to the barrier stakes. The Amphisbaena stone would draw in the cursed energy from the sea of the stuff above the city and channel it into the Goliath stones below that would then channel it into the barrier stakes which would then raise a powerful barrier around the property.-
That was the plan anyways.
"Are you sure this is safe?" Hestia asked worriedly after I jumped down from installing the massive Amphisbaena stone at the top of the tree.
"I am like ninety percent sure there won't be any problems." I said confidently.
"And the other ten percent?" Ophelia asked skeptically.
"Oh nothing big, it'll just implode and kill us before we can even feel it." I said with a grin.
""What!?""
"No take backsies!" I yelled as I sent the activation pulse of energy through the church and into the stone on top of the tree.
For a brief instant the world seemed to still as if holding it's breath and then came the energy. Raw, unfiltered and having collected over a thousand years. At first it was a trickle, harmless and easily controlled. Then the flow that was created exploded in force as that trickle turned into a torrent. The stone glowed a myriad of colors as the cursed technique carved into it was fed an enormous amount of energy that it needed to adapt to. The whole building shook from the sheer force of the energy crashing down for a few moments before the technique adapted and four streams of purified energy shot out across the air.-
These streams hit the four cardinal direction stones and each shone in a different color as a resonant humming filled the air. From the fence surrounding the property a strange almost slime-like veil began to rise and creep through the air until it closed right on the tip of the stone at the center. The whole barrier shimmered like mist in the first rays of morning before vanishing from sight. I whooped loudly with a massive grin on my face at this as it meant the familia property was now the single most well defended place in all of Orario, maybe even the world.-
Just to make sure though I created a lance of ice in my hand and chucked that bitch as hard as I could at the sky overhead. The lance created a sonic boom as it exceeded the speed of sound and absolutely disintegrated upon contact with the barrier. The barrier itself rippled slightly at the impact but shrugged it off like nothing. Even better I could feel it deep in my gut that between this and the creation of Shine and Shade I had a surprise waiting for me when I eventually leveled up.-
"Was that really necessary?" Hestia asked after flinching from the sound of the lance crashing into the barrier.
"Absolutely. It may have looked all impressive and stuff but if it can't take an attack then what was the point? I build for form AND function after all." I said with a wide grin.
"Is this it or do you have anymore insane things you want to make?" She asked with a resigned expression.
"Nah, just this for now. Gonna be spending most of my time in the dungeon from now on restoring my cursed stone stockpile and working on maxing out my stats for my level up." I said with a shrug.
That was precisely what I did too for the next three days. It was a simply pattern of waking up, going to the hostess to enrich ingredients and get a meal Freya made for me, head into the dungeon and kill everything I saw before going back home. Unfortunately on the fourth day that got interrupted as a commotion hit Riveria. Someone was murdered in the dungeon town and the whole place was locked down to find the culprit.-
The Loki familia sent Ais and a couple others to investigate which apparently caused the culprit to reveal themselves due to a misidentification. The red headed thing taking the form of a woman thought that Ais was someone by the name of Aria and attacked her. Ais was losing a little in the conflict until I showed up. The red headed thing fled after learning the hard way that stabbing me in the heart and snapping my neck wasn't enough to even slow me down. I took an eye from the thing for that lesson.
