Daoist Competition
Chapter 680 - 81 Fierce and Unparalleled Blockade of Flag Gate (Part 2)
CHAPTER 680: CHAPTER 81 FIERCE AND UNPARALLELED BLOCKADE OF FLAG GATE (PART 2)
Junior Brother Wu saw Qi Yuntian speak thus and could not help but feel a secret joy. He had originally planned to pull together a few close allies to advance together. Just as he was about to agree, four or five others suddenly stepped forward, saying, "Senior Brother’s remark is most reasonable. We are willing to lend Junior Brother Wu a hand."
Junior Brother Wu’s expression instantly darkened. These individuals hailed from various noble families, clearly intent on competing with him for merit.
However, he could see through their motives—these people all had familial ties to the three deceased cultivators, which made their claims of participation completely justified. He had no way to kick them out, silently cursed them in his heart, and could only accept this helpless situation.
Qi Yuntian chuckled, swept his gaze across everyone, and said, "Very well. Whoever manages to capture Su Yihong, I will personally petition the Sect Leader and other True Masters to grant them recognition and recommend them to fill one of the Top Ten Disciples’ positions."
When the group heard this, they were overjoyed. This wasn’t a formal competition under sect rules, so they could act freely and swarm at will. As for who could kill Su Yihong, it would depend on each person’s fortune.
Although Junior Brother Wu felt reluctant, he had no choice but to go along with these others. Soon, Six Clouds billowed into the air, their presence imposing as they surged toward Su Yihong.
As they rose into the air, over a hundred tunneling lights followed closely behind. These were Xuan Guang Disciples from various clans under the sect. Although these cultivators could not directly challenge Su Yihong, they could assist from the sidelines with magic artifacts to bolster momentum.
Among the teacher-disciple lineage, there were also disciples eager to take action and join the fray, but without Qi Yuntian issuing a Dharma Decree, they dared not act rashly.
After this group had moved far away, the white-haired old Daoist asked in a soft voice, "Senior Brother, why do you let them go forward?"
Qi Yuntian smiled and said, "Though Su Yihong rarely shows himself at the Mountain Gate, having earned the favor of four True Masters to be elevated to one of the Top Ten Disciples, how could he be so easily subdued? Let them suffer some setbacks first; that way, they won’t complain afterward about my favoritism toward the teacher-disciple lineage."
The white-haired old Daoist nodded silently in agreement.
The six disciples soon arrived at the Array Gate. Knowing Su Yihong was a Power Dao Practitioner, they dared not get too close. From thirty zhang away, they halted their advance and shouted in unison, raising their Dharma Treasures aloft.
Behind them, the over one hundred disciples were unwilling to remain idle, and they too unleashed their magic artifacts. In that moment, a dazzling array of Treasure Light amassed, descending toward Su Yihong like a torrent.
Facing hundreds of magic artifacts alone, Su Yihong let out a wild laugh, shook his body, and his bones trembled audibly. The crimson Treasure Bead atop his golden crown shone brightly, releasing a stream of white mist like a cloud that expanded to a hundred zhang. It resembled a canopy enveloping his head, its nature unknown. As the countless magic artifacts approached, the cloud-like mist encased them all, rendering them immobilized, vibrating faintly as if suppressed and unable to move.
Qi Yuntian’s expression showed a flicker of recognition; most present did not recognize this treasure, but Qi Yuntian certainly did.
This item was called the Refuge Pearl, one of seven Treasure Beads originally embedded in Su Mo True Master’s Vestment robe.
Over a hundred years ago, when calamity struck the sect, that Cave Heaven True Master perished at the hands of a fearsome enemy. His True Artifact robe was likewise destroyed, and the seven Treasure Beads, having developed spiritual nature, scattered to the winds and vanished without trace.
Unexpectedly, the pearl reappeared today, likely recovered by the Su Family. However, it seemed incomplete; otherwise, it wouldn’t be embedded alone in Su Yihong’s crown.
This treasure could not harm or obstruct enemies but emitted a protective misty cloud that repelled all but Mystical Artifacts.
The six disciples saw their own Dharma Treasures seemingly glued to the cloud without descending further or returning to hand. Straining to invoke their spells, they found their treasures unresponsive, their faces flushed with frustration, unable to advance or retreat.
Su Yihong burst into laughter and charged forward, his golden armor clanging with the motion. In one stride, he appeared before an opponent, his Cloud Rubbing Stick spinning menacingly. With a single strike, he split the man’s skull, leaving it shattered upon the ground.
He turned swiftly, appearing instantly in front of another target. His stick swept horizontally, and the victim, witnessing his peer’s grisly fate, panicked and tried to evade, but it was too late. The air whooshed violently, and with a loud crack, he was struck at the waist, his body reduced to a mangled heap.
The remaining four disciples looked on in terror, too frightened to recover their Dharma Treasures, and fled in haste.
The white-haired old Daoist gasped, "Inch Shrinking Earth Skill? This spell is often disdained by Qi Dao Practitioners, but this man wields it with mastery, complemented by his Power Dao Mysterious Skill. That combination is difficult to counter."
Qi Yuntian remained thoughtful and said, "I suspect this man possesses more Divine Skills. Keep watching carefully, Junior Brother."
At that moment, Su Yihong let out a thunderous roar, rolling across the field like peals of stormy thunder. Among the thousand disciples present, those with weaker cultivation were shaken, their ears ringing as their heads grew hazy and disoriented.
The Xuan Guang Disciples at the Flag Gate suffered even worse; over a hundred of them had their tunneling lights shattered, falling to the ground like scattered raindrops.
The four remaining Hua Dan Cultivators appeared dazed, stumbling as if intoxicated. Su Yihong charged forward with relentless momentum, roaring fiercely as he caught up. Swinging his stick with precision, he crushed three heads in succession, dispatching them like dogs.
Only Junior Brother Wu, with higher cultivation, had distanced himself early on. Seeing this carnage, he was so terrified that his soul nearly scattered. Setting aside all hesitation, he prepared to flee immediately.
Just then, Su Yihong inhaled deeply, producing a thunderous sound as a fierce gust rose out of nowhere, shaking Junior Brother Wu’s figure precariously, threatening to knock him from the clouds.
Su Yihong let out a cold laugh, swung his stick with casual ease, and with a resounding "crack," Junior Brother Wu’s head exploded, killing him instantly.
Su Yihong sneered coldly, planted his stick atop the clouds, and shouted, "Is my noble family devoid of talent? Why send such garbage to die pointlessly?"
Outside the Array Gate, the disciples watched in shock and horror as Su Yihong slaughtered six Hua Dan Cultivators in an instant, along with the three from earlier, totaling nine kills. They had never imagined such savage dominance from him.
Outside the array, Huang Fuzhou was similarly shaken. He had originally come with private calculations, for the coveted Top Ten Disciples’ position was something he too desired. Seeing this opportunity arise, he knew he had to seize it.
However, Huang Fuzhou was no impulsive fool. Su Yihong’s terrifying power left him uncertain. He intended to observe further and let others probe Su Yihong’s capabilities before stepping in at the right time.
Yet, while he hesitated, someone else had other plans.
On the platform, the white-haired old Daoist bowed to Qi Yuntian and said, "Senior Brother, True Master Qin once said that Junior Brother Huang Fuzhou’s cultivation is deep, and his abilities are exceptional. Seeing that Su Yihong is so formidable, since Junior Brother Huang is so capable, why not command him to subdue this man?"
