CHAPTER 106: CHAPTER 106- YOUNG LADY
Unique.
Exclusive.
That kind of familial affection Bert gave her in everyday life was intoxicating—so why should love be any different?
Could she possibly be his one and only? The unparalleled presence in his world?
Lilian forced herself to stop these chaotic thoughts before they spiraled out of control. She felt like she was asking for too much.
For a man like him, how could she ever be the only one?
Maybe right now he treated her well, loved her tenderly—but who could guarantee that this kind of devotion was unique? Or that it would last a lifetime?
A strange wave of sadness washed over her.
She fell silent, turning her gaze to the window.
Morrison, who was driving, glanced over at her with a tilted head.
"What’s wrong?"
Just a moment ago, she had been smiling, and now she was quiet again. Girls’ hearts really were hard to read.
"Nothing," Lilian shook her head softly.
How could she possibly tell him she wanted to be his one and only, unmatched in the whole world?
The car pulled up in front of Show’s main store. Laurent had already given Tina a heads-up, so when they arrived and gave their names, the staff immediately recognized them and escorted them to the VIP lounge upstairs.
Tina was running late due to some matter, so someone else took Lilian to pick out her dress.
Morrison needed to choose too, but men’s styles were always simple—no rush there.
More importantly, he had to wait until Lilian finalized her dress before selecting his own. He insisted on matching some small detail with her—whether anyone noticed or not, it made him feel right inside.
In public, the two rarely spoke, and tonight was no exception. Lilian tried on dress after dress while Morrison sat quietly on the sofa, absorbed in a magazine.
Every time Lilian stepped out in a new dress, Morrison glanced at her briefly, then immediately looked back down, offering no comment. Frustrated, Lilian would retreat to change again.
Beforehand, they’d agreed on minimal interaction. If Morrison liked a dress, he’d simply take a sip of water; if he didn’t, he’d say nothing.
So when he stayed silent, Lilian had no choice but to keep choosing. Several dresses caught her eye—some the shop assistant praised as beautiful and perfect for her. But without Morrison’s approval, Lilian felt helpless.
Lilian wasn’t even sure what kind of style Morrison actually liked. She didn’t dare pick any dresses that showed cleavage or back — the scars on her chest and back made that impossible. So, she could only choose the more conservative ones.
The sales assistant helping Lilian just couldn’t understand. With Lilian’s figure, why hide it? At formal occasions like this, which girl wouldn’t want to reveal a little of her charm?
So, the assistant kept urging Lilian to try on some sexier options. All the sales staff at Tina’s store were specially trained by Tina herself—they had a keen eye and knew how to pick dresses that perfectly matched a customer’s aura.
This was also part of Tina’s business strategy. Tina was an excellent stylist but couldn’t personally serve every customer. So she trained top-level assistants to take care of dress selection.
The assistant helping Lilian today was Tina’s favorite—so when Tina was held up, she entrusted this assistant to help Lilian pick her dress.
But whenever Lilian looked at the dresses the assistant picked out, she just shook her head awkwardly and gave up. After recommending a few options, the assistant suddenly noticed the man sitting nearby, head down reading a magazine, shooting her a cold and displeased glance.
Knowing he was a good friend of Lilian’s brother, the assistant guessed maybe the brother didn’t want Lilian wearing anything too revealing—and this man was there to supervise. So, she switched tactics and suggested something a bit more daring.
But Lilian couldn’t wear anything slightly revealing either. Heaven only knew how perverted Morrison was—the marks he left on her were all very high up. Lilian felt like only a turtleneck could fully cover them.
In the end, Lilian chose a black short-sleeved dress that didn’t reveal a thing front or back. Of course, even when Tina’s dresses covered everything, the details still held little surprises. The waist was cinched elegantly, the slim curve of her waist so delicate it almost begged for protection.
When Lilian stepped out wearing it, Morrison finally showed approval. He picked up a nearby glass of water, took a graceful sip, and said,
"Hm, this one’s good."
It didn’t scream temptation or sin, but Morrison knew Tina’s dresses never lacked charm—even the simplest design could catch the eye.
Lilian exhaled deeply, relief flooding her chest, and told the assistant,
"Alright, I’ll take this one."
Lilian was on the verge of losing her mind after trying on dress after dress. Finally, Morrison showed some satisfaction. Lilian, exhausted, didn’t even bother checking herself in the mirror anymore—she just decided to buy this dress and be done with it.
The sales assistant looked utterly speechless. She honestly couldn’t understand why Lilian would pick this one. It did nothing to highlight her youthful beauty. But her job was only to suggest, and since her advice wasn’t accepted, all she could do was respect the customer’s choice.
Looking back at how stylish and trendy they had looked when they first arrived in casual clothes, the assistant was baffled by their choices for formalwear—it was just so... underwhelming.
She didn’t even know how to describe it properly, so she resigned herself to steaming and packing the dress. Just then, Tina walked into the store.
As soon as she entered the VIP lounge, she spotted the assistant holding up a dress, ready to bring it out. With a confident stride, Tina asked,
"How’s it going? Have you made your choice?"
She grabbed the dress from the assistant’s hands and gave it a quick glance.
Her delicate brows furrowed,
"What is this even supposed to be?"
The assistant blinked, feeling a little awkward. Boss, that’s one of your own designs... Are you sure you want to be so harsh?
Lilian was just stepping out of the dressing room in the dress she had picked. Tina looked her over and then instructed the assistant,
"Take this dress back and hang it up properly. I’ll choose something new for her."
The assistant happily obeyed. When the boss steps in, even if the girl isn’t keen, she’ll have to wear what Tina picks.
Tina then walked over and greeted Morrison and Lilian warmly,
"Boss, the Washington young lady..."
Tina had met Morrison before. A man like him—almost no woman didn’t know who he was, and his reputation among women was excellent. So it wasn’t surprising that they knew each other.
Tina hadn’t met Lilian before, only knew she was Dave’s sister, here at A.T to relax after a breakup.
Breakups were rough—definitely a good reason to come out and clear one’s head.
Today, Tina saw a truly beautiful young lady—youthful, graceful, and with a stunning figure. There was no way Tina would let her wear such a dull dress.
Morrison, being old acquaintances with Tina, wasn’t overly formal. Lilian, on the other hand, felt nervous as she greeted Tina politely,
"Hello, Editor Tina—"
Tina’s presence was overwhelming; most people felt intimidated just by her aura. But in truth, she was very easy to get along with.
Aware of this, and seeing Lilian’s nervousness, Tina couldn’t help but chuckle softly. She walked over and draped an arm around Lilian’s shoulder,
"Come on, I’ll take you to pick out a new dress."
Lilian felt a headache coming on,
"I think the last one was fine. No need to pick another, right?"
Tina wasn’t having it. She insisted on taking her anyway. Morrison, of course, stepped in to help—after all, he was the culprit behind this whole ordeal, and he couldn’t bear to see the young lady so troubled.
He smiled and stopped them, saying to Tina,
"She’s young but she has her own taste. Let her wear what she likes."
Lilian was inwardly fuming. Her own taste? That was his taste! Her own taste definitely wasn’t like that!
"If that last dress reflects her taste, then she seriously needs a style upgrade. I’m the one who should take her to pick a new one."
Tina stood her ground,
"I’ll teach her how to showcase the charm of being a woman. How to catch the eyes of men—especially at events filled with beauties like this banquet."
Morrison clenched his teeth inside. Who needed her to learn how to attract men? She already had him—that was enough!
But he couldn’t say any of this out loud, so all he could do was watch as Tina dragged a troubled Lilian off to try more dresses.
The dresses Tina picked were all a bit revealing, and Lilian was close to breaking. Tina said firmly,
"A woman’s graceful figure should be shown off proudly—especially when you’re so young."
Lilian sighed silently. She knew her figure was good, and she wanted to show it off too. But what about the scars on her chest and back? If people saw them, they’d surely think she was some wild girl.
So she stubbornly refused,
"I don’t like dresses that are too revealing..."
It was the only excuse she could come up with. Tina frowned,
"This one isn’t that revealing—it’s just right."
Lilian bit her lip, standing stiffly, refusing to change. Tina raised an eyebrow and leaned closer,
"You’re so resistant to wearing dresses like this... could it be that you’re hiding some secret?"
Lilian’s face instantly flushed red with guilt.
