Dating the Bossy CEO Next Door
Chapter 108- a new boyfriend
CHAPTER 108: CHAPTER 108- A NEW BOYFRIEND
After Morrison and Lilian finished picking out their outfits and left, Tina hesitated for a moment before deciding to call her husband, Jackson. She told him about the secret she had just uncovered and asked whether they should inform Dave.
Jackson was quiet for a moment before replying,
"If the two involved choose to keep it private, there must be a reason. It wouldn’t be appropriate for us to tell Dave without their consent."
Tina was puzzled,
"But they seem like such a perfect match—good family background, attractive, and they appear close. Why keep it a secret?"
Jackson’s voice darkened slightly,
"If it were you, would you want our daughter to be with a notorious playboy?"
Tina was speechless.
Right—Morrison was infamous as a playboy rake with a long, complicated history. Burg Eltz’s parents definitely wouldn’t approve. Could this be why they chose to stay quiet?
But Tina scoffed,
"That’s prejudice. What’s wrong with a playboy? It depends on whether the woman can tame his heart. Look at our Sophia—didn’t she have Jacob wrapped around her finger?"
Jackson calmly retorted,
"You forgot how much Sophia suffered before she tamed Jacob."
Taming a playboy’s heart was no easy feat.
"Not everyone’s as lucky as you—getting a good man like me who falls for you without any effort."
Jackson teased Tina with a smug tone. Tina could only laugh helplessly,
"Alright, alright, I’m lucky. But no need to brag about yourself so much."
Jackson chuckled confidently,
"Let’s keep this under wraps for now. But I might use this as a chance to talk business with Morrison. He’s got a promising project I’m interested in."
Tina smiled teasingly and scolded him,
"You sly old fox!"
Jackson chuckled and ended the call.
In her heart, Tina silently hoped that Burg Eltz’s little sister would be luckier than Sophia—without having to suffer so much pain, she’d successfully tame Morrison’s playboy heart.
That evening, Dave and Laurent returned home briefly to change, then headed out to the banquet together with Morrison and Lilian.
Laurent couldn’t help but be surprised when he saw their outfits,
"How come you two’s dresses match so well?"
For some reason, the first word that popped into Laurent’s mind upon seeing them was compatible.
Lilian quickly explained,
"Ning said we’re attending as each other’s plus ones tonight, so she specially coordinated our outfits a bit."
Dave said nothing, only frowning slightly as he glanced at Lilian and Morrison before turning and getting into the car.
The banquet was grand. Members of the Seven Families and their close friends had all gathered. They hadn’t planned a separate welcome party for Dave, so this was a perfect opportunity to celebrate together.
After some polite small talk, Morrison went off to mingle.
Jacob, holding a wine glass, approached Dave. Upon seeing Lilian, he politely complimented her youthful beauty. Then he gestured toward a group of promising young men nearby,
"Lord Washington, these young talents are the very best I’ve invited at your request. You can talk with them later and evaluate."
Dave smiled and nodded, while Lilian groaned silently. Looks like her brother really was setting her up for a disguised matchmaking event.
Her mind flashed back to Morrison’s warning last night—if she let other men get close to chase her, he would make her pay for it tonight.
Steeling herself, she looked at Dave and said,
"Um, bro—"
"What is it?"
Dave tilted his head, curious. Lilian bit her lip, hesitated, then said,
"I...I have a new boyfriend. Please don’t set me up anymore."
Dave was stunned,
"What?"
He only knew she’d just broken up with Karl, and had no idea she had a new boyfriend. He stood there for a long moment, completely taken aback.
Jacob was equally surprised, wondering what kind of drama these siblings were playing.
Dave had told him Lilian had just broken up and wanted to relax, and asked him to introduce some promising young men for her to meet. But now, the girl was claiming she already had a boyfriend...
"Who’s your boyfriend?"
Dave’s first reaction after snapping out of his shock was to ask.
Of course, Lilian wasn’t about to answer. She dodged the question,
"Now’s not the time to tell you. Just know I have a boyfriend, okay? So please stop introducing other men to me."
After saying that, fearing Dave would press her more, she quickly added,
"I’m going to find Laurent. You guys talk."
Then she hurried off, leaving Dave standing there half stunned. He still couldn’t accept that Lilian had a new boyfriend.
Jacob sighed beside him,
"You can’t hold onto a grown woman forever."
Watching Lilian reminded Jacob of his own sister, Jacob Tingyu—a girl with a similar personality.
Dave was eager to find out who Lilian’s new boyfriend was, so he was about to leave and ask Jacob, but Jacob stopped him.
"As someone who’s been through it, I’m telling you—don’t ask now. When she wants to tell you, she will. Right now, you won’t get anything out of her."
Jacob’s sister Tingyu and Ye Yichen had also kept their relationship secret at first, only revealing it after the media exposed them. Although their family initially disapproved because Ye Yichen was much older, they eventually had to accept it since Tingyu liked him so much.
Dave knew about Jacob’s sister, so he took Jacob’s advice seriously. He glanced at Lilian, who had gone off with Laurent, then focused back on the conversation with Jacob.
It wasn’t right for him to push Lilian now—he’d have Laurent check in with her later. After all, any secrets or concerns she had were usually confided in Laurent.
Since Lilian had already said she had a boyfriend, Jacob personally told the young talents he invited not to disturb her any further.
Meanwhile, Morrison had been busy negotiating a deal when he heard that Lilian had taken the initiative to admit she had a boyfriend. Feeling elated, he ended up sharing several drinks with the people he was talking to.
Yeah, that feeling of being acknowledged—it was really something.
If this ever became public, he thought, it would feel even better.
He sent her a message:
"You did great tonight. So, I’ve decided to stay at a hotel for the next few days."
Morrison was genuinely pleased. By volunteering to stay at a hotel, he spared Lilian from the anxiety of hiding things in front of Dave and Laurent.
After all, there was no rush for physical pleasures. What was his wouldn’t run away.
As for Lilian, after receiving Morrison’s message, her heart finally relaxed. For the next few days, she could live without constantly looking over her shoulder.
But with her sudden revelation about having a boyfriend, the women at the banquet naturally gathered to discuss the juicy news.
Laurent was the first to ask,
"So your brother just said you have a boyfriend. Is he from Burg Eltz?"
Laurent was acting on Dave’s orders to dig for information.
Lilian had already prepared a suitable response,
"I just promised him I wouldn’t tell you all yet. No point embarrassing ourselves if we break up later."
Thankfully, her recent breakup with Karl gave her the perfect excuse to dodge further questions.
Laurent, feeling awkward, didn’t press further.
Tina, however, holding her wine glass gracefully nearby, smiled and said,
"Then just tell us his age, what he does for work, or even his personality. You know, we’ve all been through this—we can read a man’s heart just by his character."
Tina’s words brought a chorus of agreement from the other women. Lilian felt awkward and trapped.
She couldn’t reveal Morrison’s age or profession—it would give him away immediately. And as for his personality... well, he was famously a heartthrob, chased by countless women. Saying that out loud was practically announcing his name.
So she pressed her lips and shook her head slightly, pleading softly,
"Ah, sisters, please spare me. I honestly don’t know how to describe him because to me, he’s perfect in every way. There are no words to do justice to how good he is!"
With that, Lilian skillfully dodged their questions and slipped in a subtle confession of her admiration for Morrison.
Coincidentally, Morrison was passing by with Jackson nearby and overheard Lilian’s praise. Only Tina noticed the faint smile curling on Morrison’s lips.
"Oh? Perfect in every way? That sounds like a man who really knows how to please women," Tina said with a wink, grabbing Jackson’s arm.
"Honey, don’t you agree?"
Caught off guard, Jackson stopped in his tracks with Morrison. Lilian’s face quietly flushed a deep shade of red.
