Dating the Bossy CEO Next Door
Chapter 97- future
CHAPTER 97: CHAPTER 97- FUTURE
Morrison hadn’t expected her to get that mad and storm off like that.
He quickly got out of the car to chase after her, but the girl had already vanished into the elevator. She didn’t even want her phone back, leaving Morrison standing there, completely dumbfounded.
She’s got quite the temper, huh...
Both of them returned to their respective offices.
Since she was late, Lilian felt embarrassed and immediately went to apologize to her manager.
She’d been working at MOS Corp. for a while now and was almost never late. But today, thanks to Morrison, she ended up running behind schedule. And just thinking about how he snatched her phone earlier made her even more furious.
Meanwhile, Morrison finally arrived at the top floor. Sean rushed up to greet him the moment he stepped out of the elevator.
"Boss, you’re finally here!"
He immediately began reporting, "The video conference that was scheduled for 8:40 had to be pushed back again and again. I’ve run out of excuses!"
"I got it," Morrison said, striding toward his office. "Where’s Norton?"
Sean looked equally frustrated. "He didn’t show up either."
Both of them had been late this morning, leaving Sean running around alone, sweating bullets to keep things afloat.
Strangely, Morrison didn’t seem upset to hear Norton was late.
He felt... detached. Like one of those monarchs who no longer bothered to attend morning court.
He had experienced something this morning—something that rattled his usual discipline.
He’d never acted this way before. No matter how late he stayed up with a woman, he always got up on time the next day. Work always came first. No woman had ever been an exception.
Until Lilian.
While Morrison was in the middle of giving instructions to Sean, Norton finally arrived.
Guilty and flustered, Norton came up to him with his head lowered.
"Sorry, boss—"
"Let’s get ready for the meeting," Morrison cut in, giving him a glance before heading into his office.
Norton blinked in surprise.
No scolding?
Last time he was late, Morrison looked like he wanted to rip his head off.
But today? He just... let it slide?
Neither Norton nor Sean had any idea what had happened between Morrison and Lilian. Before the weekend, Morrison had been in a constant state of irritation and tension. But now, after two days off, something was clearly different.
Once Morrison had entered his office, Sean leaned over and whispered to Norton,
"The boss just got here too..."
Then, even quieter, "During the meeting, take a look at his neck. I think I saw a hickey peeking out above his collar—but I couldn’t see it clearly."
Norton frowned.
"Who the hell left that? Don’t tell me it was Lilian?"
Sean looked skeptical. "I doubt it. That’d be way too fast..."
Sean frowned as he analyzed the situation.
"But if it wasn’t Lilian and some other woman instead... doesn’t that mean there’s zero hope for them now?"
He honestly felt a bit disappointed. Lilian was a good girl—sweet, decent, and frankly miles better than those flashy drama queens out there. Sean had already gotten used to the idea of his boss being with Lilian. The thought of Morrison ending up with someone else just didn’t sit right with him anymore.
Norton didn’t say anything more. He turned and headed into his office to prep for the upcoming meeting.
Sean followed, leaning casually against the doorway with a mischievous grin.
"So, tell me—was your future sister-in-law that wild last night? Couldn’t even get out of bed this morning, huh?"
Norton shot him a glare. "Get lost."
Sean laughed. "When are you finally going to bring my future sister-in-law home to meet Mom?"
Norton’s expression changed instantly. "You didn’t. Tell me you didn’t tell Mom I had a girlfriend."
Sean shrugged, utterly unbothered.
"Of course I told her. It’s great news! Why wouldn’t I share it with the parents? They were thrilled!"
Norton was fuming, looking around for something to throw at him.
"You’re a grown man—why are you gossiping like a housewife?!"
"We’re not even official yet! What the hell did you tell them for?"
He hadn’t told his parents about Yuki yet—not because he didn’t mean it. In fact, if she agreed to marry him, he’d propose in a heartbeat.
But he wasn’t sure about her. He wasn’t her first love, nor the one she had long admired. He didn’t know if she truly had the courage and conviction to spend the rest of her life with him.
That’s why he wanted to wait—wait until things between them were more stable, more secure.
Otherwise, the moment his family found out, they’d start pushing for marriage. And he didn’t want that kind of pressure tainting their relationship.
But Sean, the loudmouth that he was...
Norton’s jaw clenched, smoke practically coming out of his ears.
Sean didn’t get the hint.
"What do you mean ’not official’? You two slept together! You think you can walk away from that?"
Norton gave him a cold stare and snorted.
"We broke up."
Sean: "..."
Norton grabbed his files and walked away.
"You’re the one who opened your big mouth. You deal with the consequences."
He paused just long enough to toss one last jab over his shoulder.
"Maybe if you brought a girlfriend home for once, they’d be even happier."
Then he was gone.
Sean stood frozen, trying to process what he’d just heard.
"Broke up? But weren’t they just together last night?!"
They had just returned from visiting their parents over the weekend. Yesterday afternoon, Norton had gone to see Yuki. Sean had assumed they’d spent a romantic night together. Break up? What the hell happened?
He rushed forward, blocking Norton’s path.
"You guys were fine last night—what the hell happened?"
Norton stopped, face dark with frustration.
"This morning."
With that, he walked straight into Morrison’s office, leaving Sean behind with his organs practically rearranged from the shock.
This morning?!
Wait—don’t tell me it’s because my brother didn’t satisfy her last night?!
Now what was he supposed to do?
He’d shown their mom a picture of Yuki. The old lady was thrilled—smiling ear to ear. And now his brother says they’ve broken up?
What if she asked to meet the girl soon?
Sean collapsed against the wall in despair.
All because I couldn’t keep my damn mouth shut...
Meanwhile, in Morrison’s office, the video meeting had already started.
Norton sat beside him, distracted and half-present.
His mind was still tangled in what happened that morning.
The night before had gone perfectly—physically, emotionally, everything had felt right. During the weekdays, both he and Yuki were busy, and with Morrison often needing company for business dinners, he and Yuki sometimes went days without seeing each other.
So when they finally reunited last night, their passion practically exploded. It had been... amazing.
But during breakfast this morning, Yuki suddenly asked:
"Why don’t you quit and come work with me?"
His response was immediate.
"I’ve never considered leaving MOS Corp."
To him, MOS wasn’t just a job—it was home. Morrison had discovered both him and Sean years ago and given them their start. Over time, they’d become more than just coworkers—they were practically brothers.
Sure, he could find a better-paying job elsewhere. But he doubted he’d find this kind of work environment again. Comfortable, flexible, and most importantly, surrounded by people he trusted.
Morrison wasn’t just a boss—he was family. And with Sean at his side, Norton had no reason to leave.
He knew Sean felt the same. That’s why neither of them had ever considered jumping ship, no matter how many high-paying offers came their way.
So when Yuki asked him to quit and work with her, his instinctive reaction was to say no.
And that... was where things started to fall apart.
