CHAPTER 34: CONTRIBUTION FROM FANG CHE

Yin Shengong wanted to see just how adaptable and resourceful Fang Che was, and he quickly received a response.

"This is just my opinion, but I think you should contact the Divine Heavenly Church and tell them that in the wake of Ximen Xuri's death, the Ximen Clan contacted the Divine Heavenly Church to plan vengeance on that student from White Cloud Warrior Academy.

I'll also be able to take their heads to White Cloud Academy in exchange for merit points while also earning the academy's trust. As for the timing of your warning message to the Divine Heavenly Church, just send it a day or two after the event."

Yin Shengong was stunned into silence.

This is brutal! You killed their seeded prodigy and sold out an entire subsidiary clan of theirs, yet that's still not enough for you? You have to kill two more of their members on top of that?

As cruel at it sounded, this was a very alluring plan.

If they could pull it off, then the Divine Heavenly Church would owe the One Heart Church a massive favor!

After some contemplation, Yin Shengong messaged: "But if you do that, you'll place yourself in even more peril. The Divine Heavenly Church won't just let things slide."

"So be it. If I die because of this, then that's simply my fate. If I survive, then I will ascend to greater heights by stepping over them."

Yin Shengong fell silent upon hearing this, and a plan began to take shape in his mind.

A cold look appeared in his eyes, and he didn't correspond with Fang Che any further.

At around midnight, Sun Yuan suddenly received a message from Yin Shengong.

"Contact Qian Sanjiang and take Night Demon on a mission. The mission will be carried out..."

Before Sun Yuan had a chance to contact Qian Sanjiang, he received a message from the latter: "Sun Yuan, we've got a mission!"

Sun Yuan immediately set off for Fang Che's manor, vaulting himself over the wall and into the courtyard.

After being awoken by Sun Yuan, a bewildered look appeared in Fang Che's bleary eyes.

"Master? What..."

"We've got a mission for ten merit points!"

The two of them snuck out of the manor.

Sun Yuan's cultivation base was far superior to Ye Meng's, so she didn't detect his visit at all.

As they were rushing through the night, Qian Sanjiang sprang out of the dense canopy of a nearby tree.

"Come with me."

Before long, the three of them had arrived on a street that was quite busy during the day, and from their concealed location, they were looking out at a golden plaque that read "Lü Bank."

"This is one of the secret bases of the Divine Heavenly Church in the White Cloud Prefecture, and there are three church members inside, a General and two Great Grandmasters. All of the other employees are disciples to those three," Qian Sanjiang introduced

"Is this information reliable?" Sun Yuan asked.

"Of course! Don't forget these are technically our allies, so information on them is very easy to find," Qian Sanjiang replied in a smug manner.

Fang Che was astonished.

He had only suggested taking out two of the Divine Heavenly Church's undercover agents, yet Yin Shengong had tossed out one of their secret bases!

Qian Sanjiang put on a mask, then used his Covert Shapeshifting Technique to transform himself into a tall and thin man with a square face.

Sun Yuan was dressed all in black, as was Fang Che, but the latter was also wearing his signature gold-embroidered black cloak, and he hadn't even bothered to conceal his own face.

"Let's go!"

Qian Sanjiang rushed into the bank, closely followed by Sun Yuan, while Fang Che waited on a nearby tree.

His cultivation was too low, so he would just have to wait for the spoils while Qian Sanjiang and Sun Yuan took care of everything else.

The doors of the bank were violently blown open, and Qian Sanjiang rushed in to a chorus of alarmed cries.

"Who's there?"

"We're being attacked!"

Qian Sanjiang's sinister cackling rang out, and it was quickly punctuated by a string of agonized howls.

Sun Yuan was already beginning to harvest lives with his sword.

He had to conceal his own identity, so he couldn't use a saber.

Even so, he was still a King, while his most powerful adversary in the bank was only a General, so he could still easily dominate even while using a non-preferred weapon.

Additionally, he was accompanied by Qian Sanjiang, whose cultivation base far exceeded his, and it was a one-sided slaughter from the very beginning.

The eight people in the bank were almost killed in an instant, following which Qian Sanjiang and Sun Yuan began to search for objects of identification, anything that would link these people and this place to the Divine Heavenly Church.

In the end, concrete evidence was secured, indicating that these people were indeed all members of the Divine Heavenly Church.

After securing all of the evidence, they even opened the secret chamber and threw out the deity statue worshiped by the Divine Heavenly Church inside.

From there, Sun Yuan and Qian Sanjiang began to loot the bank, and all of the money and valuable objects that were secured were taken away in Qian Sanjiang's spatial ring.

Finally, Sun Yuan and Fang Che parted away atop the tree, and upon his departure, the former loudly delivered a well-rehearsed line: "I'll leave everything here to you, Brother Fang. I'm carrying out a secret mission, so I can't reveal myself. Thank you for looking after our Su Clan's estate in my stead. May we meet again!

After that, Sun Yuan and Qian Sanjiang promptly departed, while Fang Che sprang down from the tree, then calmly began loading a pair of carriages that had been prepared earlier with the bodies, the evidence, and the deity statue.

By the time the Protectionists arrived on the scene, Fang Che was the only one left, toiling away with blood-soaked hands.

"Stop!"

"Put your hands up!"

"Who are you? What's going on here?"

A foul stench was beginning to permeate through the air, and it was coming from none other than Chen Ruhai, who was accompanied by the sullen Fan Tiantiao.

Earlier, Fan Tiantiao had received news of his transfer to the White Cloud Prefecture Hall of Protectionists.

Even though he was still going to be serving as deputy hall master, the White Cloud Prefecture oversaw a far larger territory than Green Wave City, so this was actually a promotion.

Hence, Fan Tiantiao had gone to gleefully get his paperwork done. Finally, he could leave Chen Ruhai and his putrid feet.

However, he quickly discovered that Chen Ruhai had also been transferred to the same place, and that they would continue to work together as hall master and deputy hall master.

Fan Tiantiao instantly fell into a state of depression, one that wasn't eased even by his promotion.

It was their first night on the job, and they were already dealing with a break-in and multiple homicide, even further souring his mood.

Fan Tiantiao had half a heart to follow after the eight victims at the scene.

Fang Che?!

Chen Ruhai was also momentarily dumbfounded.

What's he doing here?

"What's going on here?"

Fang Che was already prepared, and a shy smile appeared on his face as he said, "I didn't think you would be working this late into the night. Thank you for your hard work!"

The two of them rolled their eyes in unison.

We would be sleeping by now if you hadn't caused this massive mess!

"What happened?" Chen Ruhai interrogated in a cold and stern voice.

"It's a long story. Can I speak to you in private?"

Chen Ruhai and Fan Tiantiao exchanged a glance with one another, then followed Fang Che a few steps away from the scene.

Chen Ruhai was standing on one side of Fang Che, while Fan Tiantiao had chosen to stand on the other side.

Fang Che was rather bemused by this. With the two of them standing on either side of him with their arms crossed, it almost looked as if he were being accompanied by a pair of bodyguards.

"A few days ago, I inadvertently killed Ximen Xuri during the academy's new student tournament, but as it turned out, the Ximen Clan is affiliated with the Divine Heavenly Church!"

"What?! Explain!"

"I just did! Thankfully, Brother Su Yue..."

"Hold on, what? Brother Su Yue? The same one from the Su Clan of Green Wave City?"

Chen Ruhai was becoming more and more perplexed and astonished by the second.

"Yes, that one. What's wrong?" Fang Che asked.

"Nothing. Continue," Chen Ruhai prompted as he massaged his own glabella with his still-reeking fingers, then gave them a sniff.

"Holy shit! Can you not?!" Fan Tiantiao abruptly exclaimed.

Fang Che: "???"

Fan Tiantiao forcibly composed himself, then said, "It's fine, I wasn't talking to you. Continue."

"Alright. While on a mission, Brother Su Yue discovered that the Ximen Clan had gotten into contact with the people of the Divine Heavenly Church to have me assassinated. Brother Su Yue cares greatly for me, and he implored his master and uncle-master to come all the way here to kill these people in order to protect me."

"Make sure to leave the crime scene untouched!" Fan Tiantiao immediately ordered, then accompanied Chen Ruhai to the carriages to examine the evidence that had been compiled.

Having fought against the churches for so many years, it was immediately clear to them that Fang Che had been telling the truth.

Most of the pieces of evidence were impossible to forge, so these people were most definitely members of the Divine Heavenly Church.

In other words, Fang Che had just made a major contribution to the Hall of Protectionists!
