DC Comics: The Bookstore Witch
Chapter 60 60: Milim’s First Customers
[3rd POV]
With Milim now living with her in her shop, Wanda had to rework a few of the areas, and had to adapt to her new life at home. She managed to do it all before dinner was over, and by the time the first night of Milim staying with her was over, her home had changed.
She had even made the girl her own room, tailored to her own personality and likes. But...Wanda had awoken in the next morning, to a small arm sprawled out across her face, with Milim sneaking into her bed at night. Wanda wasn't against the fact, as she thought Milim's sleeping face was adorable.
But she was a little put off about the fact that her face was full of arm when she had awoken, and the fact that her blanket had been all but stolen by the little menace. A little menace that would likely cause some problems in the future if she didn't make sure to make some serious ground rules.
Ground rules that she was currently making, as they both sat behind the counter in the main store.
"Do you remember the rules, Milim?" Wanda asked, wanting to make sure the girl was actually paying attention, as it seemed that she had a bad record of not really listening to people. And now that she was basically her adopted daughter, she wouldn't be taking disrespect like that from her.
"Mmhmm!" Milim nodded excitedly, as Wanda raised an eyebrow.
"Oh really? And what were the rules that I had given you?" Wanda asked, wanting to make sure that Milim actually had listened to what she had said.
"First rule, no destroying product!" Milim exclaimed, as Wanda smiled, nodding as that was indeed the first rule.
"Second rule, no attacking or harming the customers!" Milim said, causing Wanda to nod. There were a total of five major rules that the girl had to follow, so Wanda was making sure she remembered them.
"Third rule, no traveling to other universes without Mama!" Milim continued, as Wanda nodded. This was one of the most important rules of Wanda's, as while she could effortlessly find her and go to that universe, Wanda didn't want her to go to a world like Vampire Diaries, and completely upend the entire universe.
"Fourth rule, no stealing any treats from the kitchen!" Milim explained. Another rule that Wanda deemed as important enough to mention, as Milim was...definitely a food lover, and Wanda didn't want her stealing the food of others or anything like that.
"Mmhmm, you'll be getting all the food you want within reason, but you just have to ask me, okay?" Wanda asked, as Milim nodded in agreement.
"Fifth rule, no bugging the customers while they're shopping or reading!" Milim said, grinning as Wanda patted her head, a proud smile on Wanda's face, as Milim had gotten all five right.
"Good job! All of that is right. As for the last one, you can talk with the customers but not enough to annoy them too much, alright? We don't want to be scaring anyone off" Wanda explained, as Milim pouted slightly at the annoying part, but decided not to get mad. Her mama was right, afterall.
"Okay! Can we open shop now? I wanna see all the customers from other universes!" Milim asked with sparkling eyes, as Wanda chuckled, flipping the sign to open.
"Yay!" Milim cheered, as the door opened almost immediately after she opened it. In walked The Doctor, alongside a small stack of books.
"Finally! I was wondering when you'd open up shop!" The Doctor said with a smile, as he walked over with the books in hands, planing them on the counter. Only to blink when he noticed the pink haired girl looking at him with sparkly eyes.
"Who's this, Wanda?" Rose asked, as they had both met Ivy and Raven, but had never seen the short girl with uniquely colored hair before.
Before Wanda could respond, Milim did "Milim Nava! Demon lo-ack! Ow! What was that for?"! Milim exclaimed, being cut off in the middle as Wanda planted a small smack against the back of her head.
Hearing the question, Wanda ignored her new daughter and spoke "This is Milim, she's my...adopted daughter. It's her first day here in the shop so bear with her please" Wanda said, as Milim pouted, causing Rose to coo, finding her to be adorable, while The Doctor just chuckled.
"It's quite alright! She's just excited, and that hair of yours is quite interesting! Is it natural?" The Doctor asked, looking at Milim in interest. He had seen pink hair before, sure, but not on someone who looked so human. Well that, and he wanted to get Milim used to him, as he imagined that he would see her quite often.
"Yep! My perfect hair has always been with me! Pink is the best color afterall" Milim replied with a grin, as Wanda smiled.
"Mmhm, I'm more partial to Blue, but pink is quite good as well. Now, I've got a large stack of books here for you Mom" The Doctor said, as Milim blinked and watched as The Doctor placed a stack of 12 books onto the table.
Each and every one of them were new and Wanda's eyes gleamed when she realized that a number of them were VERY rare, as in, only a handful of them in the entire universe that The Doctor hailed from.
Meaning they were going to get a lot from Wanda, as she looked the smirking Doctor in the eyes.
"You've brought quite the haul in today, haven't you? Am I right to assume that you're going to be buying a mass amount of books?" Wanda asked, as the man nodded.
"Yep! I thought it was time to get some new materials for the library, and you've got a ton of neat books so I thought it was time to buy some of them. And with the book bag we got from you, it'll be perfect to get a good haul in" The Doctor responded, as he had been meaning to buy a bunch of books en masse, and now was the perfect time to do so.
"Alright then, this should be enough for around 100 books, less mattering on the rarity of the ones you are buying. The books you brought are quite...the incredible ones" Wanda said, lifting the stack with a smile as she sent them off into the back, while The Doctor's eyes lit up at the mention of one hundred books that he would be able to get.
Rose looked equally as excited, as she would be able to get some new romance books that Wanda had been selling, a few of which she had personally written after she decided to make some new ones. The romance section had been lacking a bit in the past few days. But it was now larger, and full of new books.
"Well I'll be looking through the new books you've brought in, perhaps Milim can show me some of them?" The Doctor asked, as Wanda smiled, looking at Milim who nodded with bright eyes, all but dragging the Doctor over to the science section, which had gotten around 50 new books added to it in the past two days.
Wanda had been making new books en masse, which is why it had even more books than before.
"I didn't realize you wanted kids" Rose said, as she watched them walk off towards the bookshelves.
"I never really thought I did, not truly. But once she called me Mama for the first time, it felt like...something snapped into place. I guess it's something I've secretly wanted for a long time, and now I've gotten it. But, it's still a bit to get used to, with her only moving in with me a day ago" Wanda responded, remembering her sons.
"Well congratulations either way, having a daughter must be a big change, but it sounds like it's a welcome one" Rose replied.
"It is, I had to change half the rooms in my house and put all the sharp objects away. Milim is...a bit chaotic, so it took me hours to make sure everything was safe enough for her" Wanda said, remembering how long it took to make sure her house was safe enough. She had been a bit paranoid about it all, so she checked over the house dozens of times.
Probably a bit too much.
"You sound like my mum, which is a good thing...probably" Rose replied with a laugh, as Wanda just smiled, as Rose glanced back.
"Well, I'm going to go find some romance books that I will never allow the Doctor read, thanks" Rose said, as she walked off leaving Wanda alone. Watching Milim chat with the Doctor, Wanda smiled, one thought on her mind as she watched.
'...Already a natural'

That's the end of the chapter!
Just warning y'all now, I'm going to be out of town for a week starting Monday (so this monday to next Monday) so the quality for chapters might get a little spotty during that time. I'll keep my current update schedule (every two days for this fic and SpiderGwen) while my other two fics (Daughter of God and Fanon Maker) will likely only get updated once. Sorry about that (to those that actually read those fics lol).
Anyways, have a good day!
