It was clear from the look on Jayson’s face that he wasn’t joking.
Still, Ariel refused his suggestion. “That won’t be necessary. You don’t have to trouble yourself. Nancy and Sarah were the ones who hired the assant. Since they’ve already been captured, the assant has no reason toe after me anymore. I’m not afraid.”
Ariel had no intention of spending the night in this house. This ce was no longer her home.
Jayson gazed at her in silence, recognizing the resolve in her eyes. Whenever Ariel didn’t want something, she refused without hesitation.
“It’s hard to get a cab around here. You should just take my car and drive yourself home,” Jayson finally
relented.
Truthfully, he had someone keeping watch near Ariel’s residence. He already knew the ce was safe.
This time, Ariel didn’t turn him down. She really would have had to walk quite a distance to hail a cab, since they weren’t allowed to enter this neighborhood.
“Alright. Have someone retrieve the car at Faye Tech tomorrow.” Ariel picked up the keys again, not even bothering to look around the house.
As for the rumored nursery, she showed no interest or curiosity at all.
Without another word, Ariel turned and left.
She was still driving the Rolls–Royce Sweptail that had been hit earlier that day. Though unfamiliar with the vehicle, she was slowly getting the hang of it by recalling what Jayson had taught her.
Jayson didn’t follow her out. He stood by the window instead, watching as the car rolled out of the yard and disappeared from view.
No one could stop her once she decided to leave.
Dropping his gaze, Jayson looked down at his injured arm. After a moment, he pulled out his phone and
made a call. “Look into Nancy and Sarah’s connections. Who helped them this time?”
Sarah had lived abroad for many years and built numerous connections along the way. Even in such a
critical momentb, /bshe had managed to arrange everything before attempting to flee the country. That alone proved her background was far from ordinary.
Ending the call, Jayson unbuttoned his shirt and headed upstairs to the bedroom.
He was certain Ariel wouldn’t encounter any more danger that night.
Ariel herself wasn’t worried either. Firstb, /bthe chances of trouble at her residence were low. Second, she knew Jayson’s men would have already dealt with any possible risks.
As for Nancy and Sarah, formal procedures still had to bepleted, but there was no doubt the two would face punishment.
The next morning, Ariel got ready and drove Jayson’s car to Faye Technologies. She didn’t mention the incident to Katie or Leonard. To her, there was no point–it would only make them anxious.
On the way to the office, she received a call from Carlos. He was livid after hearing what had happened the previous night.
Ariel tried to calm him down, but Carlos‘ voice was cold and firm. “Don’t worryb. /bThe authorities will handle this case ordingly and give us a satisfactory oue. You have nothing to fear. We’ve got your back.”
Ariel could tell Nancy and Sarah would face harsher punishment this time. Their crimes had gone far beyond their earlier misdeeds.
In the parking lot, she ran into Janice, whose eyes widened in shock. She hurried over and ran a hand across the side of the car. “Did you strike gold? This car is worth over ten million dors! Am I seeing things, or is this really yours?”
Ariel shrugged. “It’s Jayson’s car.”
Janice’s lips instantly pursed, her expression turning disdainful. “I knew it! Only someone like him–the embodiment of capitalism–could own a car like this. Wait, why are you driving it?”
Ariel thought for a moment, then decided to tell her what had happened the night before.
Janice was shocked out of her wits. She immediately looked Ariel over, head to toe, and only rxed after confirming she was unhurt.
Then her expression darkened. “Has shepletely lost her mind? That woman’s heart must be nothing
but venom!”
When they reached Ariel’s office, they saw Chad. Ariel informed him too. “Nancy and Sarah tried to flee the countryst night, but they were caught.”
Chad had a grim look on his face. “I heard the news this morning. The incident is quite serious. I received some updates from Commander Quinton. They’ve already found some information through their investigation.
“The man they sent after youst night came from Southeast Am. He’s a ruthless criminal with a
horrific record.”
