Chapter b622 /b

Morgan’s threat echoed in Ariel’s ears.

The mockery in her eyes only deepened. Good thing she had never expected anything from this so–called father, so there was no disappointment now–just bitter amusement.

Back then, when the reporters rushed in, Jayson had already made sure she was covered. The only image they caught was of the two of them, fully dressed, alone in the room. Even that, Jayson had handled it

    cleanly and left no trace.

Who would have thought that the true malice woulde from Morgan in the end?

But to Lori, Ariel’s calm was nothing but fear. Smiling, she tapped on Ariel’s desk as her eyes swept across the luxurious office. “Didn’t I warn you not to be so ungrateful? You think we don’t know exactly what you are? Ariel, we did you a favor by giving you the perfect husband. Don’t tell me byou /bn on

biting the hand that fed you.” 2

b“/bLori, don’t talk to your sister like that. She’s always been smart and has never given me a headache. I’m sure she’ll talk to Jayson on our behalf. After all, the Sanderson family is going to end up in both of your hands one day.b” /bMorgan’s tone was all fatherly affection, but his eyes burned with greed.

    “Whatever.”

Ariel’s calm, almost indifferent response cut him off. He paused for a moment, then nced at her again.

She had already flipped open herptop without a flicker of emotion on her face.

“Ari, what’s that supposed to mean?” Morgan chuckled faintly.

Ariel gave the faintest nce upward. “Say whatever you want. I don’t care.”

    His face darkened at once.

She looked at him calmly. “But let me remind you. Given my current position, if you really go down that

road, it’ll be an insult to a national research scientist. And after that, you can expect awsuit. That’s all I

have to say. Do you two have anything else? If not, get out.” 2

She carried herself like a detached outsider, showing no hint of tension or fear.

Lori stiffened. Even Morgan struggled to believe what he was seeing. Only now did he realize how much Ariel had changed.

She had never been this strong–willed before. When had she grown so unyielding? There was even a hint of authority in her now that made him wary.

“Ariel, are you insane? You’re just going to throw your reputation away?” Lori’s face went pale, her beyes /bwide with disbelief.

Ariel pressed the inte. “Send security up here. Have them escort these two out of my office.”

Her merciless dismissal darkened Morgan’s expression. For once, his polished mask slipped. He rose and

    stared Ariel in the eye.

“You’ve really grown up. Now you dare talk back to me. Ari, I can’t tell if you’re just pretending to be calm. or if you’re overestimating Jayson’s feelings for you. Why would he want a woman who’s be the subject of dirty jokes in people’s idle chatter?”

    The words dripped with cruelty.

Ariel didn’t even look up at him.

Just then, Janice stormed in with security in tow.

The moment her eyesnded on Morgan and Lori, her face twisted with contempt. “Well, well, even the rats from the gutter found their way in here. Ethan, Sean, toss them out. Faye Tech will need a full

cleanse inside and out. They’ve dirtied the ce!” (2

Morgan’s face went stiff with humiliation.

He wasn’t about to be dragged out in front of everyone. He gave Ariel a look of disappointment, as if she

were an ungrateful daughter, then pulled Lori–who was about to snap back–away with him.

Once they were gone, Ariel’s gaze shifted to the photo on her desk. No doubt Morgan had more.

When Janice approached, she spotted it too. Her expression twisted with rage at once. She snatched it up

and tore it to shreds. “Those bastards! They’re not human!” (1

Her anger bled into sorrow. She rushed over and hugged Ariel, not wanting her to feel too upset.

Ariel patted her shoulder lightly. “It’s fine. This is nothing. He didn’t get what he wanted, so he won’t do

    anything for now.”

Even if Morgan did release her photos, she had no reason to be afraid. She hadn’t done anything wrong.

No rumor or prejudice could change that.

After leaving Faye Technologies, Morgan got into the car with a dark expression.
