Demi-human Girls Completion Manual

Chapter 627: Suspect List 94_2
In Fisher’s eyes, the mineral as a whole revealed a sinister sense of abruptness, as if it existed in discordance with this world, constantly generating intense world fluctuations that could only be drawn out by Magic Power. The mineral itself was even stranger, like a glowing source of light, rippling through space with pale blue divine light.
The pale blue divine light slowly spread through the real space, treating everything—including the air, table surfaces, and the bodies of the people around—as obstructions, as if everything around was rejecting it. Yet, when it reached Valentina’s vicinity, that radiance began to aggregate and gather around her little by little.
This was indeed the real reason Fisher had been watching Valentina the whole time. Simultaneously, he remembered something Emhardt had mentioned to him before.
Legend had it that the Phoenix Species, as children, were forced to gaze at the raw stone of Ice. In their long contemplation, they acquired the ability to see into the future. Although Fisher couldn’t confirm the prophecy’s truth yet, one thing was certain: Only the Phoenix Species could use Ice; otherwise, the Grey Bird Species wouldn’t carry such a large piece of Ice into the mausoleum.
If only the Phoenix Species could use Ice, could it be due to their unique Constitution? Could Valentina, who likewise reacted to Ice, be highly related to the Phoenix Species? Moreover, the Demi-human Girls Completion Manual had indicated that Valentina was an unidentifiable special demi-human; her Magic Circuit wasn’t even shaped like a human’s…
Thinking this, Fisher’s eyes brightened slightly. He glanced subconsciously at Valentina, making her fingers tremble with a chill, utterly unaware of why Fisher would look at her with such an eager gaze that she had never seen before.
Fortunately, that eager and eerie gaze didn’t last long. Fisher turned his head and began explaining to Balzac,
“Do you remember the curse we encountered on the island? That was the Southern Ocean. Why could a curse from the Northern Realm travel such a great distance without hindrance to lock onto that scroll, and yet Ilois only had to flee to the southernmost part of the Northern Realm to avoid the curse’s retribution?”
“This undoubtedly means the curse’s range is limited, at least in the real world. But within the Spirit Realm, its range would expand infinitely. Ice was substituting the function of the Spirit Realm, possessing similar powers; that’s why I think it’s some kind of mineral from the Spirit Realm, not from the real world.”
Balzac wasn’t a Mage, at least he had never read Fischer’s paper about the source of Magic Power coming from the soul, so of course, he couldn’t understand what Fisher was saying. However, Valentina nodded thoughtfully and murmured,
“Helldor’s guess was right, the Spirit Realm truly exists… So, you mean to say, the Phoenix Species used some method to obtain this mineral from the Spirit Realm, and those curses we couldn’t see before are also closely related to the Spirit Realm. This is also why only you and Helldor could affect the curse with Magic, right?”
Fisher looked at Valentina with approval. As the young lady of the Turand Family, not only was she well-versed and broad-minded, she quickly grasped the specifics of the new theory. So he nodded and said,
“Or rather, not only is that curse closely related to the Spirit Realm, but the extinction of the Phoenix Species and the Frost Snow Phoenix Tree is also intimately connected to the Spirit Realm. This also means that the Phoenix Species’ decline and the curse that attacked us are inevitably linked; this is the problem they couldn’t resolve until their death…”
If even the Phoenix Species couldn’t solve the problem and ended up with their clan wiped out, didn’t that clearly demonstrate the dangers concealed by the Frost Snow Phoenix Tree?
But Valentina’s subordinates didn’t react as strongly to Fisher’s warning words.
Philis looked carelessly outside the door, seemingly pondering when she could leave; Balzac pursed his lips, and though he clearly felt uncertainty and pressure, he didn’t show any signs of fear in the end; only Celti, the Mechanic, had a sudden flash of pale on her face and hesitated for a long time before speaking, looking to see that no one else was commenting and then feeling too embarrassed to say anything.
As for Valentina, she had mentally prepared herself before setting out to search for the Frost Snow Phoenix Tree and certainly wouldn’t back down just because of a word or two from Fisher.
While the room’s occupants were deep in thought, footsteps outside gradually approached. Valentina’s gaze shifted to the doorway, where she saw the two officers who had left earlier return. They removed their hats and said to Valentina,
“Miss Valentina, the General has agreed to your proposal, consenting to have the Turand Family temporarily take custody of the Ice. We will be responsible for transporting the Ice to your residence in Mia until someone from your family comes to take over.”
Valentina touched her chin and said in a low voice,
“Rather than bowing to the Sardinia Female Country, they’re willing to entrust it to us. It seems things here haven’t been peaceful during my absence from the Northern Realm… Alright, let’s proceed this way. We’ll have other matters to attend to afterward, and it would be great if you could accompany us into the city.”
