Chapter 1174: Chapter 1173: No One Is a Fool
Nineteenth Aunt found the Red-Crowned Old Demon again, “Old Lord, how did your discussions go with them?”
The Red-Crowned Old Demon was in turmoil, torn between choices; give up, and be looked down upon by the Winged Demon clan; persist, and if he lost, he’d still be looked down upon, and perhaps even lose his life.
If he had to choose, perhaps having this Hai Dongqing fight could at least ensure his survival? This is the paradox of aging; as one gets older, they value life more. It’s a progression of wisdom, yet a regression of courage. The Heavenly Dao Rules are like this; only when you understand fear can you advance.
The Heavenly Dao doesn’t require mindless fearless cultivators.
“Alright, I’ll be the sixth to go up, the first for the Winged Clan, and I’ll let you replace me. If there’s a future, you will be my brother, and the Dark Bay Sea Area will be at your disposal.”
Nineteenth Aunt was nonchalant, “I’m not doing it for that; it’s for the honor of the Winged Clan that must not be desecrated.”
The Red-Crowned Old Demon’s dim eyes flashed with a hint of brilliance as he watched Hai Dongqing leave, yet his Divine Sense was contacting his old pals,
“He’s going up himself. I guess your suspicions are correct.”
An older Winged Demon said coldly, “Though the Winged Clan seldom interacts, we aren’t completely unaware; within our domain, there’s no such winged creature named Hai Dongqing known to anyone, not a single one, indicating her origin is questionable.”
Another older Winged Demon chuckled, “Pure noble lineage, an enemy to Mountain Demons, with immeasurable strength; all these attributes combined, where else could she be from but Outer Space? I’m just puzzled, aren’t those space monsters here for the same purpose? Why is she acting on her own?”
The Red-Crowned Old Demon laughed, “The same purpose? I’ve cultivated for a thousand years and have never heard of such unity. Just like the Jinxiu Continent’s Demon Clan, is it for one purpose? One mind?”
Several older Winged Demons agreed; with thousands of demons, each with their own face and character, unity is impossible. Disagreements are inevitable, and they felt these disagreements should have surfaced earlier, and it’s probably not just Hai Dongqing, is it?
So, even if they saw through that Hai Dongqing wasn’t from the West Sea Winged Demon tribe, it didn’t stop them from trusting her. After all, the bloodline runs the same, and the stand remains aligned, why expose her?
Wouldn’t it be nice to let these extraterrestrial visitors fight among themselves?
Nineteenth Aunt and her companions went to great lengths trying to meddle and break the Jinxiu Demon Clan’s alliance, unaware that their tactics were already exposed. Fortunately, the Winged Demons had too many assumptions, guessing only part of the scheme, but missing the whole picture.
The Winged Clan was busy scheming, pushing the extraterrestrial demons to fight against each other, but the Sea Clan’s final battle had already begun.
Among tens of thousands of demons, including those disguised like Hou Niao and Tan Xiao, weren’t optimistic, as the last to appear was a Sea Clan creature with the least firepower, a Mother Zha, a variant of jellyfish known for its enormous size.
Because the Sea Clan’s order of appearance was strong to weak, the formidable ones either died or were injured, two pairs of sea demons perished, so by the time it was the Zha Mother’s turn, no one expected much.
In terms of combat ability, the Zha Mother fights in a manner similar to an octopus, with entangling techniques, capable of torturing weaker opponents to death, yet against extraordinary opponents, such a singular combat style makes a turnaround unlikely.
Comparatively, the octopus has some attack methods, whereas a jellyfish-like sea creature generally relies on enveloping the enemy, slowly digesting them, with possible toxic erosion during the process, more or less this way.
The fifth Sea Clan creature to appear was such a being, genuinely large, its body spanning dozens of feet, floating like an umbrella-shaped white cloud, light and ethereal.
Its only advantage was its incredible resilience, composed of water and gel, immune to most Technique attacks and all physical assaults, yet against strange Outer Space beasts like the Ghost Goat, it wasn’t certain.
After all, it relied on demonic power as its mainstay in battle.
The Zha Mother drifted towards the Ghost Goat, everyone envisioning the impending disaster, but at least the Zha Mother was brave, undeterred by the Sea Clan’s prior four defeats, or maybe it was too dumb to know fear?
The Ghost Goat rarely advanced, wanting to quickly end this disgusting, sticky substance, appearing clean as water yet emitting a pungent stench up close from its tentacle follicles’ toxic release.
With a distant head butt, rings of shockwaves thrust forward, accurately striking the Zha Mother’s seemingly formless body, undulating in waves, and then… nothing…
This resilience was downright absurd.
With a slight attempt, the Ghost Goat quickly realized that all its Divine Skill attacks were useless against this watery entity; the Sea Clan’s punching bag reputation wasn’t unfounded.
To tackle such a weightless, spore-bodied monster, there’s only one effective move, the Great Dao.
The Ghost Goat didn’t hesitate either; the Sea Clan’s combat prowess hadn’t stirred any competitiveness in it, battle was tasteless and wasteful to abandon.
Seizing a chance, it sprang forward on four hooves, closing in, and thrust its horns forward…
Yet the Zha Mother, previously sluggish, acted out of character this time. As the Ghost Goat manifested, its vast umbrella surface abruptly contracted; even the sky seemed affected, seeing trails from compressed air, jetting forward, enveloping the entire goat into its gelatinous bulk, vanishing completely.
Such an unexpected twist, yet no one worried for the Ghost Goat, as its shown power far surpassed the Sea Clan’s; much like the Bear Bream earlier on, initially wrapped by the octopus, in the end, it wasn’t the Bear Bream who broke free, causing its demise?
A jellyfish’s body structure is indeed peculiar, yet not more than the octopus’s toughness, what’s so hard about it?
Almost everyone thought so, including Nineteenth Aunt and her companions. Hou Niao even consoled her,
“No worries, just do what I told you earlier, remember one thing, charge mindlessly, and when close enough, Tan Xiao and I will act as zombies, each grabbing one of its feet…”
“Old Tan, act more convincingly, don’t let the cat out of the bag, know how zombies look? Eyes straight, can stick your tongue out a bit, hands raised, knees unbending, hopping along is just right.”
Tan Xiao was exasperated, “Nonsense! Can’t stick out the tongue, think you’re a hanged ghost?”
The three laughed heartily, three against one, who could withstand their practice on the Jinxiu Continent?
