CHAPTER 30: LOOT

"Alright, people," Sebastian’s voice filled the air. "We did it. We cleared the Shattered Hall. That means it’s time for our last event of the day."

"Profit sharing!" Rowan cheered from where he stood.

A smile appeared on Wade’s face at the thought. Finally! It was time for him to see the fruits of his labors.

He stumbled to his feet, grabbing his sword and sheathing it. Then he made his way to where Sebastian stood, the rest of the party congregating there.

"Before we begin, I would like to see a few words." Sebastian said solemnly. "Being an adventurer is never easy. We pride ourselves on going into dungeons with the maximum information we can find on it. But this one was different."

"The story had been changed, but we didn’t know. We had to face four Boss monsters instead of one. And yet, we passed through this adversity without a single loss." He stared at each of them in turn. "I’m proud of us."

A proud smile appeared on all their faces, even Ingrid! And with that, Rowan dumped all the loot he’d gathered, and dropped them on the floor.

Taking a seat on the glass free floor, they all dumped their gathered loot in the middle of the circle.

Wade nodded, taking it all in. There were at least twenty small boxes in the pile, and from what he’d come to know, each box contained 500 coins. That was more than 10,000 coins. A giant lump sum, but not enough to even clear his debt.

Thankfully, that was not the only loot. Including the Double Image skill stone, there were at least five skill stones in the pile.

From what he’d heard, these higher grade skill stones could go for at least 7,000 coins in the market, so they were worth at least 35,000 coins collectively.

A grin appeared on his face as he began daydreaming about all the things he could do with that kind of money.

Then, his eyes landed on the new, smaller, almost round stones that sat among the pile.

"What are those?" He asked with a frown.

"Stat stones." Rowan answered, picking one up and handing it to Wade. "You can absorb them to increase your stats. They sell at a set price. 100 coins for every 1 stat added."

The moment Wade’s hand touched the stone the screen appeared before him.

[Stone of Agility+2]

That meant if he absorbed the stone, two stat points would be added to his agility. And if he wanted to sell it, the stone would be worth 200 coins.

He eyed the pile, seeing that the stat stones were the highest number of loot they’d gotten. There had to be at least 50 stat stones in the pile.

That was when he saw it. The knife. Sitting innocently among the pile. It was the same knife the priest had used to kill the cult member in the chapel, during the scenario.

The knife seemed to have been made out of a single shard of mirrored glass, reflecting everything around it. Wade’s hand crept forward and he touched it.

[Item: Mirror Dagger]

[Deals 20 damage + 10 reflection damage. 12% chance of a Critical Hit.]

He blinked at the description. Only 30 overall damage. Was the knife worth it?

Shaking his head, he withdrew his hand.

Rowan sorted the loot, until they were all in their piles. The total came up to 32 boxes of coins, each one holding 500 coins each, 57 stat stones, 7 skill stones, and one item.

Sebastian first set aside two of the boxes, totalling 1000 coins to pay off their feet for entering the dungeon. That left 30 boxes.

He divided the boxes equally, with each person taking seven boxes, holding a total of 3,500 coins each. That left two boxes, which they set aside for now.

He moved on to the skill stones, and divided them equally again, this time, according to how many stats each stone would grant.

With 30 stones granting only one point, 20 stones granting 2 points, and only 7 stones granting 3 points, there were a total of 91 points.

So, each of them got 22 points worth of stones, with only a single 3 point stone left. They added it to the two boxes on the side.

Wade glanced down at his haul. Right now, he had 5,700 coins worth of loot. That was more money than he’d held at a single point since he got to this world, and yet, it still wouldn’t take care of half of his current debt.

As for the skill stones, each one took a stone each, leaving three stones unassigned.

Appraising the item, Rowan determined that it was worth around 5,000 coins.

Nodding at the estimate, Sebastian decided to give the remaining three skill stones to Wade, Rowan, and Ingrid, settling for the item, the two boxes of 500 coins each, and the remaining stat stone, taking a loss of 700 coins.

Calculating his loot, Wade was delighted to see that his haul was worth a total of 19,700 coins. His debt was a total of 17,500, so that meant with this single dungeon delve, he’d made enough to clear his debt and be more than 100 times richer than he’d been just a week before.

’Maybe the guilds aren’t so bad.’ He grinned to himself.

They all put their share of their loot into their inventory, standing to their feet.

"Alright." Sebastian clapped, a smile on his face. "Time to leave."

He led the group to a part of the hall, where a green crystal hovered above the ground. "That’s our exit stone."

The moment he touched it, the message appeared before him.

[Would you like to exit the Shattered Hall?]

[Yes/No]

He clocked "yes", and there was a bright flash of light, swallowing the room.

When the light faded, the exit stone was gone. And so was the party.

And the Shattered Hall began to reset, waiting patiently for the next group to be tested.
