Chapter 38 : Dungeon Raid (1)
QueenBee did not answer.
Axton did not expect any answer in the first place.
His confidence had grown so much since he entered this world and he had lost his sense of fear and doubt.
Why enter a dungeon in hard mode when you can go for the max difficulty and get the highest possible rewards?
That was his line of thoughts about the whole thing but the members of Dragon Claw did not get it as they were still limited by their levels.
Axton was practically invincible as far as they know.
It was not strange that he would react that way.
After all, they were yet to see what was going to stop the mighty Khan!
"I thought as much," Axton added and turned around to face the dungeon.
Staring at his back, QueenBee was lost in her thoughts, ’Could he really be that strong? Could it be that he defeated Grand Nexus all alone like our intel reported?’
Dragon Claw guild had sought his help and they did not want to put more pressure on the matter to avoid losing their sure bet to success.
Clearly, with Axton on their side, they could confidently breeze through a hard mode dungeon but hell mode... they had their doubts.
Axton turned his head to look at the players behind him.
"Trust me," he said with a smile that had their face relaxing because they did not understand how Axton could be so calm about this.
*Ding*
[Hell Mode selected!]
"Everybody get ready!" Hart instructed in a loud voice, unsure of what might meet them the moment they step into the dungeon.
He also couldn’t help but notice that Axton did not do any flamboyant thing whatsoever. In fact, he did not even call up a weapon.
He simply stood in front of the gate with his arms crossed over his chest and looking forward.
Little did he know that the cloth Axton had on was none other than his shock plate.
The guild members equipped themselves, calling up different kinds of items into their grasp as they prepared for the dungeon raid.
******
[Dungeon]
Going through the gate, Axton and the others found themselves inside what appeared to be a forest with trees scattered a bit scantily.
"Stay close!" Hart barked his orders, ensuring that it reached every ear that needed to hear it.
*Growl*
A group of monsters appeared like a welcome party for their arrival, only that there was nothing that hinted at offering good hospitality in the eyes of these voracious beasts.
Saliva drooled heavily from their mouths as they bared their fangs.
These beasts looked like what was crossed between a wolf and a hyena.
They look vicious and ready to tear any prey in their path apart.
*Ding*
[Beast]
Grade : Common
Level : 6
Attack : 30
Defense : 24
HP : 60/60
"Level 6? Right off the bat?"
"Damn! Definitely hellish!"
They were thrown into an encounter with level 6 monsters already without any warmups whatsoever.
QueenBee raised her hand and pointed it forward as soon as she noticed the beasts move like they were about to attack.
"Tanks!" she yelled, "Shields! Make sure they don’t get past you!"
"Yes!"
The tank class players in the team rushed forward, using their shields to create a barricade between them and the incoming monsters.
"Warriors!" Hart yelled after her, "Prepare to attack!"
"Assassin to the flank of the formation," QueenBee followed up, "Rangers and mages at the rear for long range attacks. Healers should stay behind the rangers."
’They understand each other enough to form a coherent unit,’ Axton assessed them as he watched how they moved around under the voice of their leaders.
In no time, the formation was set, ready to take on the coming beasts.
"You can attack freely. We will heal you," QueenBee assured Axton before heading over to where the healers of the group were, at the tail of their formation.
She summoned the staff she had purchased from Axton, prepared to use the [Tend] skill when the need arises.
The warrior class players attacked while the tank players tried their best to defend against the beast but it was tough, making Axton understand why they were so worked up about him picking the hell mode option.
"Tend!"
"Tend!"
"Tend!"
The healers were unrelenting from behind the lines, not allowing any of their injured members suffering devastating or lingering damages. That way, the fight could still continue.
Axton, who had remained uninvolved for a little while now, soon stepped into the battle field, ready to turn the tides in their favour.
*Shing*
He killed the few of the monsters that approached him while also allowing them landing attacks on him.
"He’s getting hit but the damage is little to nothing."
"His defense must be incredibly high. Even higher than our tanks."
Hart had been observing Axton, stealing glances at him immediately he acted. ’He’s letting them hit him. What is he planning?’
******
Axton endured a series of exchanges from the monsters of this dungeon.
"Please step back!" Axton advised in a loud voice as he continued to approach the monsters that kept attacking him.
He looked at the ground and then around him. "This distance should do."
The aura that surrounded Axton changed, becoming denser by the second as if he was a kettle holding a boiling substance that threatened to explode.
"If he asked to step back, then go back!"
"Retreat!"
"Get away from Khan."
"Stay back!"
Hart, like the others, had also retreated away from Axton.
’Seems his next technique does not differentiate friend and foe,’ Hart thought.
His air shifted around Axton and started to expand until it reached a point where it exploded.
*Boom*
A shockwave was manifested and the crossbreed monsters were sent flying in every possible corner as damage numbers lit up and floating at different spots around them.
[Shock blast]
Axton had used the [Shock blast] skill from his shock plate armour, and in that single strike, he killed this group of beast that attacked them.
