Chapter 1319 - 1320: Battle in the Park
CHAPTER 1319: CHAPTER 1320: BATTLE IN THE PARK
"My beast companion? There’s only this one, as for the others..."
Before nightfall, Feng Yuan and the group finally made it to the Battle Park just in time. Knowing that camping was allowed inside the park, they hadn’t been overly concerned about it getting too late. However, as they entered, Feng Yuan ran into a bit of an issue—he was accompanied by too many Spirit Beasts.
"They’re with us."
Veronia stepped forward with Belusir and said, while also patting Pomiti on Big Cat’s head. The ticket inspector hesitated, curiously sizing up these two beautiful women, before saying:
"You’d best avoid getting too close to the areas where the experts duel. If there’s any problem, seek assistance from the nearby patrol staff immediately."
It wasn’t that he minded the number of Spirit Beasts they brought, but this group was indeed... unique. Aside from Yang Hongzhi’s and Dou Yanlan’s Beast Tamed companions, which were considered quite normal, the rest were a bit... odd. And speaking of Pomiti, it was even more peculiar. Who on earth would choose such a rare-to-the-point-of-near-extinction Spirit Beast as their companion?
Moreover, Pomiti was one of the few Spirit Beasts with almost no combat ability. Originally, Qi Chen’s Beast Tamed companion seemed normal enough, but when the Flower Leaf Tree Three Spirit Beasts popped out from the Amu Tree’s canopy, the inspector no longer knew what to think of his intentions.
The person only had one contracted beast, which clearly marked him as a recent high school graduate. But now, seeing him care for three nearly non-combat Spirit Beasts, it was completely baffling. That said, over the years, the park had seen plenty of peculiar Beastmasters, so he wasn’t particularly shocked.
After reminding them to stay safe, he waved them through. The park’s regulations weren’t overly strict: as long as you possessed your own Beast Tamed companion, you could enter. Additional reminders were simply the staff’s goodwill at play.
As they stepped into the Battle Park, Feng Yuan stretched and said:
"How about we find a spot to set up camp first? Ah Mu, it’s your time to shine~"
Ah Mu blinked in confusion at Feng Yuan, before remembering that his Ultimate Move could be used to set up a makeshift campsite in the wild. Though he had used it before during the Maomu Beastmaster Competition, it hadn’t been put to use much afterwards, as Qi Chen and the others rarely ventured out. Even Qi Chen had nearly forgotten its utility.
As for why Feng Yuan hadn’t brought it up earlier in the flower field? He really didn’t want to get scolded. Using tents was one thing, but constructing a camp with vines in a sea of flowers? One misstep could lead to their destruction, and he’d surely be chewed out for it.
"Strange, why does it feel like there’s hardly anyone around here?"
Looking around, Feng Yuan commented with a puzzled tone. Although it was getting dark, it wasn’t fully night yet, but apart from their group and the staff at the main gate, there didn’t seem to be many people around.
Although Battle Park was called a "park," most of the grounds were set in natural, outdoor environments. Facing the entrance was a forest, and one needed to traverse it to reach a large grassy knoll surrounded by trees.
Further in, there were lakes and mountainous terrains, catering to most people’s battle environment needs. Special stone paths marked the routes to different areas, where battling near the stone paths was prohibited. These paths were covered in high-durability materials to withstand impacts.
Most Ultimate Moves wouldn’t cause much damage to the stone paths. But seeing how empty the surroundings seemed, Feng Yuan couldn’t help feeling uneasy. Could it be that they had arrived at a bad time?
"Battles aren’t allowed at the park’s entrance. Everyone must be deeper in, and this kind of place tends to have designated areas where battles are more concentrated,"
Yang Hongzhi observed as he glanced around. Although free battling was allowed in most parts of the park except for small restricted zones, people would usually gravitate toward the duel points set up by the park to find opponents.
Otherwise, given the park’s vast size, finding suitable opponents would be no easy feat. For instance, putting Qi Chen up against Yang Hongzhi would result in an overwhelming difference in both skill and the number of Beast Tamed companions, rendering the match frustrating and meaningless.
"Is that so? Oh well, let’s focus on setting up camp first. As for food, I’ll go check out the ingredients they have here at the store."
Eying the food stall and restaurant near the park’s entrance, Feng Yuan remarked. They hadn’t deliberately prepared provisions for this trip, as Feng Yuan had stored quite a few reserve ingredients in Kong Qing’s space, preserved with a time-stasis effect, eliminating worries about spoilage.
However, while stasis kept them preserved, the ingredients’ flavor and texture still weren’t quite as good as fresh ones. If the quality of food sold here was decent, Feng Yuan wouldn’t mind purchasing some.
"In that case, we’ll head over first. Little Crocodile, go with him. You can guide him later."
Twirling her parasol, Veronia suggested. Even though Feng Yuan would have no trouble finding them on his own, having Little Crocodile accompany him wouldn’t hurt. At least they could stay in quick contact if anything came up.
Glancing at Veronia, Agunas flicked its tail and said:
"Why don’t *you* go with him? Don’t you care about what’s for dinner?"
"I trust his cooking skills. Besides, I also have to worry about where we’ll sleep tonight~"
"If anything comes up, just use the Divine Beasts’ information network~"
Waving her hand dismissively, Veronia said. Agunas glared at her. Feng Yuan facepalmed and commented:
"I was going to ask if you all forgot your phones? This isn’t the actual wilderness, you know. There’s no way there’s no cell signal here."
Already in a bad mood, Agunas paused at hearing Feng Yuan’s words, glanced downward, and stayed silent. While the Divine Beasts’ information network could maintain communication in virtually any environment, this was Battle Park—they were definitely within range of full cell service. Seeing Agunas’ reaction, Feng Yuan rolled his eyes and said:
"Alright already, let’s go and see what they’ve got."
"The view here’s pretty nice. How about we camp here?"
Veronia suggested, pointing out a lakeside spot. Just then, Qi Chen walked over, holding his phone, and asked:
"What are you planning to eat? Feng Yuan said the food ingredients here are great, super fresh. Look, there’s all this."
Noticing the photos Feng Yuan had sent to Qi Chen’s phone, Veronia froze for a moment, then composed herself and elegantly pretended nothing had happened as she scrolled through his phone.
A while later, Feng Yuan returned, pushing a small cart. Qi Chen noticed it and asked in surprise:
"Where did you get that small cart from?"
"The shop provided it. Otherwise, how else could I carry all this stuff?"
Although Agunas had come along, Kong Qing was back with Qi Chen setting up camp. Feng Yuan felt it would be too much to ask Agunas to carry the entire load of food. Besides, the store conveniently provided small carts for moving purchases into the park.
"Just don’t break it, it’s got a deposit,"
he added, as if suddenly remembering something. While he wasn’t too concerned, there was no need to be wasteful. Little Ice Cream curiously poked at and even tried to nibble on the small cart, only to get swatted away by Kong Qing’s tail.
"Huh, there are actually quite a few people nearby. How about we ask them for a duel after dinner?"
Feng Yuan surveyed the surroundings and noticed Veronia’s chosen spot was indeed great. Still, he found it puzzling—why hadn’t anyone already claimed such an ideal location?
Looking at the nearby camps, Feng Yuan scratched his head in confusion. Qi Chen glanced at Veronia and sighed:
"We already had a match earlier."
"You did? Who won?"
Feng Yuan looked at Qi Chen in surprise. Yang Hongzhi sighed, glanced at Veronia, and explained:
"Of course, Veronia won. She defeated the people who were originally camping here and claimed this spot for herself."
Sitting on Rainbow Bubbles, enjoying the scenery and chatting with Belusir, Veronia turned and said to Feng Yuan:
"Don’t you think the view here is beautiful?"
Agunas shot Veronia a glare. Was she causing trouble again?! Seeing this, Feng Yuan waved his hand dismissively and said:
"Never mind. Since this is Battle Park, it’s only natural to decide camping spots through duels."
Flicking its tail, Agunas let out a cold snort and decided not to argue with Veronia further. After all, as a Divine Beast, it could easily overwhelm any Beastmaster in a fight. However, since these were the park’s rules, it couldn’t object.
