CHAPTER 725: CHAPTER 566: WHY NOT ASK...
"I advise you..."
"Who is the idiot~~" Jiang Nian took a deep breath, ready to shout out the next few words, but was directly silenced by Li Hua.
"Damn it, I really need to control you!" He was anxious, "byd bro, I’m begging you, don’t say it out loud!"
"No problem, no problem." Jiang Nian chuckled.
Great, now I have some dirt on Li Hua. Plenty of fun for the next month or so, after all, anything can be queued.
Zhang Ningzhi woke up groggily, rubbed her eyes, and asked.
"What idiot?"
"Nothing, he was just shouting randomly." Li Hua blushed a bit, feeling like he was about to explode any second, "Right?"
Jiang Nian squeezed out a, "Meow."
"You damn it!"
....
After school at noon.
Jiang Nian raised his head, suddenly realizing a sheet of English paper was missing. So he searched everywhere for it, turning to ask.
"Did you take my paper?"
Li Qingrong: "...."
"Alright." Jiang Nian’s first reaction was to search Li Hua’s desk, and then he remembered that this guy doesn’t do English papers.
After a while, he suddenly remembered that he might have lent it out.
"Bye-bye, I’m off to eat." He got up and greeted the class leader, as Li Qingrong usually went home for a nap at noon.
So, she basically doesn’t eat outside at noon.
"Okay." Li Qingrong nodded.
"Oh, by the way, Qingqing." Jiang Nian got up and turned back, curiously asking, "Where do you usually eat at noon?"
"Pre-ordered, restaurant delivers meals."
Suddenly, Jiang Nian felt like he missed out on a billion. If she had said the restaurant delivers meals earlier, why would he still eat at the cafeteria?
"Why don’t we eat together at noon?"
"Okay."
"Forget it, let’s eat together next time." Jiang Nian felt unfortunate because he had to meet his old desk mate Han Xiao now.
After leaving the school, he walked straight along Zhennan Street. At a corner, he turned and entered a small shop.
The vintage decor greeted him with a small square courtyard upon entering.
From the outside, it looked unremarkable, but once inside, a breeze hit him. A winding stream flowed, and a small bridge sat in the center.
A swing hung at the entrance, with an orange cat lounging on it, basking in the sun.
Jiang Nian was also stunned; he’s lived in Zhen Nan for so long. It’s his first time discovering this little haven opposite the disease control center.
Suddenly, a window on the second floor was pushed open.
A girl with a flushed chest and delicate features smiled brightly at him. Then she vigorously waved her arm and said crisply.
"Jiang Nian! Come up!!"
After going upstairs.
"Why is the color on your face fading?" Jiang Nian commented casually, "Is it a painted skin? If you can’t hide it, just hurry back to the stories of Liaozhai."
"You!! A mountain pig can’t eat fine grains!" Han Xiao was about to explode with anger, "I put on makeup, can’t you tell?"
As she spoke, she tried to grab Jiang Nian’s arm.
"Can’t tell, I thought you just finished dusting?" Jiang Nian immediately pulled his arm back, observing the surroundings.
"This place is nice, but why don’t I see a sign?"
"This place isn’t open to the public, so there’s no sign." Han Xiao boasted, "This is where my dad entertains guests."
"Usually, it’s for good friends in the business world to come and eat."
Upon hearing that, Jiang Nian was dumbfounded.
"Oh crap, I’m not getting charged, right?"
"Not charging the groom."
"Then I’m leaving." Jiang Nian turned around.
"Hey hey, don’t go." Han Xiao grabbed his arm, "Just kidding, the private room is already booked."
The two of them pulled and tugged, entering the private room in front of a group of waiters.
Jiang Nian glanced around, noticing that this place was much cleaner than usual private rooms, with exquisite decor and layout.
Similar to a private reception.
"Han Xiao, your dad won’t come here to catch an affair, will he?"
"What are you talking about!" Han Xiao gave him a sideways glance, puffing up her chest, "I’m an adult, what’s there to catch?"
"That’s good, I’m just afraid your dad will give me a beating."
Han Xiao: "...."
"Speaking of your dad beating me, it reminds me of...." Jiang Nian tapped the table with his fingers, speaking wistfully.
"Stop, can you not bring that up?" Han Xiao totally gave in, "Why don’t you beat me a few times to vent?"
As she said, she tried to press Jiang Nian’s hand to her chest.
"Holy crap!" Jiang Nian was so scared he quickly withdrew his hand and stood up, "Stop it, I won’t mention it if you don’t act crazy."
They both returned to normal, it’s fair to say they balance each other out.
Soon, the waiters began to serve the dishes one by one.
They didn’t really have much to talk about, mostly Han Xiao chatting. Jiang Nian was not much of a talker and just focused on the food.
In the end, Han Xiao was speechless.
"How many meals did you skip?"
"Didn’t eat anything during the long break, just worked on problems." Jiang Nian swallowed a mouthful of water-boiled pork slices and picked up another.
"Don’t just talk, eat too."
Han Xiao was at her wits’ end, sipping orange juice.
"You can eat with me every day."
Jiang Nian waved his hand, refusing directly, "No, I understand the difference between an occasional feast and feasting every day."
Han Xiao gritted her teeth and said, "I’ll have my dad apologize to you again, if that doesn’t work, we can elope."
Jiang Nian’s ears were getting numb, "I really don’t understand, why do you keep clinging to me?"
"Because when we were desk mates, we used to bicker all the time, and it developed feelings." She said.
"Huh?" Jiang Nian was dumbfounded.
"The two of us sat together because we were so noisy that the homeroom teacher banished us to the corner to squat by the water dispenser, right?"
"That’s not the point." Han Xiao said.
Jiang Nian thought for a long time, planning to slip away after eating.
"Since it’s come to this, let’s just eat first."
Around one o’clock, Jiang Nian walked out from the front gate. Han Xiao followed behind him, dejectedly full of anger.
"I’ll just send you this far, you can go back yourself."
Han Xiao: "...., you."
Suddenly, a black Mercedes drove up from the alley corner and stopped at the courtyard entrance, with a middle-aged man getting out.
"What’s going on with you two...?"
Han Xiao glanced at the middle-aged man and called out, dad.
"Don’t worry about it."
Han Chunping: "...."
His gaze fell on the young man standing nearby, who had grown quite a bit compared to two years ago and was still so carefree.
"Hello, Uncle."
"Hmm, have you eaten yet?" Han Chunping’s face was not very good, speaking in a muffled voice, "If not, let’s eat together."
Jiang Nian didn’t answer, glancing at Han Xiao.
"Oh, dad, don’t worry about it." She pushed Han Chunping inside, "Go in and take care of your business."
Han Chunping stood in the courtyard, looked back at the two leaving figures. His eyes were complicated, his heart filled with mixed emotions.
"Ah, adolescence."
He couldn’t quite understand why his daughter kept clinging to that boy, when there were plenty of good-looking boys out there.
"Sigh."
Jiang Nian and Han Xiao parted at the intersection, not letting her see him off further.
"Go back."
"Oh." She took a few steps, then turned back, calling out to Jiang Nian, "Were you just now trying to piss my dad off?"
Jiang Nian looked back at her, thought for a while.
"Yes, and no."
With that, he waved his hand and disappeared at the end of the desolate alley.
.....
After climbing back over the wall to school.
Class Three, it was already quiet during the noon break.
Jiang Nian returned to his seat and found a box of sliced navel oranges at the desk stomach. He couldn’t help but turn his head and look at the back row.
Chen Yunyun was sleeping slumped over the desk, but now she got up groggily, exchanged a glance with Jiang Nian, and smiled.
Jiang Nian nodded, then glanced at Wang Yuhe, finding him tinkering with a tank, aiming the turret at himself.
Damn it!
After the noon break, Ma Guojun brought back some news.
"Saw Lao Liu’s daughter."
A group of boys, including Jiang Nian, were leaning on the railing, letting the wind blow over them. Upon hearing this, they all turned back to the chubby Ma Guojun.
"Who?"
"Really, Lao Liu never brings his daughter to school."
"Oh wow, what’s she like?"
"Is she cute?"
"Pretty cute, she’s in the office." Ma Guojun beamed, "Yao Beibei is there, playing with her."
"Why did they suddenly bring her here?" Jiang Nian was curious.
"Who knows, maybe the wife doesn’t have time to watch her," Ma Guojun shrugged, "Why don’t you go ask at the office and find out."
"Forget it, I’d rather ask the dumb meow cat."
"Chi Shi!"
