Liu Ergou's face was so close to hers that the slightest movement from either of them would have resulted in a kiss.

He Mingxue froze for a moment before carefully shifting to the side. As she moved, however, she realized that half of her body was now pressing down on Liu Ergou. This only made the already embarrassed He Mingxue feel even more flustered.

"Um, Er Gou, I didn't mean to, I..."

Before He Mingxue could finish, Liu Ergou interrupted her. "Alright, that's enough. You were asleep, so how could you know what was happening? It's perfectly normal."

Hearing this, He Mingxue said no more. Instead, she sat up, preparing to get out of bed and wash up.

But just as she sat up, she seemed to remember something. She quickly grabbed a small mirror from the headboard and cautiously used it to peer under the bed. Liu Ergou watched her in confusion, completely baffled by her actions.

"Wait, President He, what are you doing? Why are you using a mirror to look under your bed?"

He Mingxue explained nervously, "I'm scared! I'm afraid there's someone hiding under my bed!" She added, "But I can't just stick my head down to look. What if there really is someone there? I'd be a goner! With a mirror, at least I have some time to react!"

Liu Ergou couldn't help but roll his eyes. "Come on, President He, isn't that a bit of an exaggeration? Someone hiding under the bed? Are you sure you haven't been watching too many movies? Only people who watch too many movies behave like this!"

To Liu Ergou's surprise, however, He Mingxue didn't get angry. Instead, she said with a serious expression, "I have not been watching too many movies! Honestly, Er Gou, there was this one time I suddenly had a feeling that there really was someone under my bed, but I was too terrified to look down!"

Hearing this, Liu Ergou frowned and sat bolt upright in bed.

His abrupt movement startled He Mingxue, who instinctively scooted backward. But the bed was only so large, and as she backed away, she ran out of room and tumbled off the edge.

With quick reflexes, Liu Ergou caught her and, with a surge of strength, pulled her into his arms.

This unexpected development left He Mingxue dumbfounded. She was frozen in his embrace, utterly unsure of what to do.

Seeing her dazed expression, Liu Ergou quickly said, "Ahem, uh, I wasn't trying to... I just saw you falling, so I panicked a little. Get up first. We can talk after you're up."

Hearing his words, He Mingxue blushed and nodded, then tried to push herself up. In her flustered state, however, she accidentally grabbed Liu Ergou's most sensitive area. Without even realizing what she was doing, she instinctively tugged and jiggled it. Only after completing this series of actions did it dawn on her what she had done.

I touched something I absolutely shouldn't have.

The moment she realized, He Mingxue snatched her hand back, hastily pulled the blanket over herself, and huddled beneath it, not daring to meet Liu Ergou's eyes.

This sudden turn of events left Liu Ergou stunned as well. In his wildest dreams, he never would have imagined something like this happening this morning.

This... this...

For a moment, Liu Ergou's face turned red. Imitating He Mingxue, he ducked his head under the blanket.

Hiding under the covers, He Mingxue subconsciously glanced at her own hand.

This Liu Ergou... he's terrifyingly well-endowed. Could his girlfriend really handle it? If it were me, I think I'd die…

He Mingxue's train of thought came to a screeching halt as she caught herself.

What in the world am I thinking? How did my thoughts even get there?!

Daring not to dwell on it any longer, He Mingxue immediately jumped out of bed and rushed into the bathroom to wash up.

A few moments later, she was finished.

Liu Ergou, having recovered from the awkward incident, also got up and headed for the bathroom. They exchanged a brief glance as they passed, but neither said a word. Soon, Liu Ergou was also done washing up.

After they were both ready, they left the room.

Standing at the doorway, Liu Ergou asked, "By the way, President He, do you need me to stay with you during the day?"

He Mingxue shook her head. "No, not during the day. I'll be very busy, so even if someone wanted to kidnap me, they wouldn't get a chance. They wouldn't stand a chance unless they stormed in here with two AK-47s!"

Liu Ergou chuckled at her half-joking remark. "Okay, got it. I'll see you tonight, then. I'll come by this evening."

As he finished speaking, he seemed to remember something. He reached out, plucked a strand of hair from He Mingxue's head, and carefully wedged it in the gap between the door and the frame.

This act left He Mingxue puzzled. "Er Gou, what are you doing?"

Liu Ergou explained, "Aren't you afraid of someone coming into your room? This is a little precaution. If anyone opens the door, the hair will fall. That way, you'll know if someone has been here. Just tell the housekeeping staff not to come in until after you get back."

Hearing his explanation, He Mingxue gave him a thumbs-up. "Impressive, Er Gou! And you say you're not a professional? You're more thorough than a real bodyguard!"

Liu Ergou just chuckled in response to her praise and didn't say anything more. Then, the two of them turned and left.

When they reached the hotel lobby and were about to part ways, Liu Ergou seemed to remember something else. "President He, I almost forgot. If you run into any danger during the day, give me a call. I'll get there as fast as I can."

He Mingxue naturally nodded and readily agreed.

With that, the two separated. He Mingxue went to attend to her business, while Liu Ergou found himself at a loose end, not sure what to do.

After a moment's hesitation, Liu Ergou decided that since he had nothing to do, he might as well go find Lu Shuangyue. He resolved to have a proper talk with her.

Just as he decided to head straight for Lu Shuangyue's home, however, his phone rang. He took it out and saw the caller was none other than Lu Shuangyue herself.

This caused Liu Ergou to raise his eyebrows.

I didn't expect Lu Shuangyue and I to be so in sync. Could this be the legendary...?
