Chapter 132: Making a Fuss about Running Away from Home?
CHAPTER 132: CHAPTER 132: MAKING A FUSS ABOUT RUNNING AWAY FROM HOME?
After Shen Yanchen finished his social engagement, he remembered that the red dates at home were almost gone, so he specially drove to the dried fruit market and bought a box of dried dates.
It was not even nine o’clock when he returned, but she was not in the living room watching TV.
He placed the dried dates on the shelf and then went to knock on her door.
As the door opened, she stood by the door looking up at him, her smile as awkward as ever. "You’re back."
Shen Yanchen nodded. "Have you had dinner?"
"Yes, I ate outside."
As she spoke, she walked inside, but her steps paused the moment she entered the room. Seeing the suitcase on the floor, he asked, "Are you going out again?"
Gu Qimiao shook her head, trying to keep her voice steady. "I’m moving out tomorrow."
He froze; the blows she delivered always came so suddenly.
Scanning the room, he noticed that nearly all her things were packed away.
The once cluttered desk was now tidy, the art book she often read was no longer by the bedside, there were a few empty hangers on the bed, and her clothes were no longer visible on the balcony outside.
Gu Qimiao turned around, walked to the bedside, took out a card from her bag, and handed it to him. "This is the money I borrowed last time. The card’s password is the same as the one on the door."
Shen Yanchen looked down at the card. The amount was hardly a meal’s expense for him, but he didn’t even have the right to openly give her money, so it had to be repaid in this manner.
He took the card, turned around, and walked towards the door. "I’ll take you tomorrow morning."
That night was destined to be sleepless.
After a shallow sleep of two or three hours, he couldn’t sleep past six o’clock.
In the summer, the sky also brightened early, and a few people could be faintly seen moving about outside.
Gu Qimiao also got up, changed clothes, checked to see if she had left anything behind, and sat on the small sofa by the window. When it really came to leaving, her emotions surprisingly calmed down.
Even though they wouldn’t be living together, at least they were still in the same city. She could still, like before, read reports about him without his knowledge, see that he was doing better and better, and know that he was living well.
She took his car to the gallery and got off at the same intersection. When he asked her where she was moving to, she only said somewhere near the commercial street.
Then they stopped talking. She dragged her suitcase, walking away from him, as he started his car, the distance between them accelerating apart.
At the gallery, she happened to run into Fang Shaobei arriving at work. Seeing her with the suitcase, he asked, "What’s going on? Running away from home?"
Seeing it was him, Gu Qimiao immediately walked over. "Mr. Fang, didn’t you say before that there’s a teacher’s apartment at the art academy? I want to stay there for a few days. My brother’s place isn’t ready yet."
Fang Shaobei raised an eyebrow upon hearing this. So, she had a falling out with Shen Yanchen?
He got out of the car to help her put her luggage in the trunk. "Alright, I’ll take you there."
The art academy wasn’t far from the gallery; it only took a few minutes to get there.
The apartment was quite nice, and it had everything she needed.
"I’ll just stay a few days. My brother’s place is almost finished."
Fang Shaobei helped her put her suitcase in place. "Stay as long as you like, it’s empty anyway."
Though she appeared unemotional on the surface, he knew her well. She usually loved to joke around with him, but today she was quiet throughout the entire journey. Who knew what had happened between her and Shen Yanchen?
After work that evening, he personally drove her over and reminded her, "Be careful living alone. Call me if you need anything."
Gu Qimiao smiled and said, "It’s okay. Xiaoxiao will come over after her night class."
"Alright then, I’ll leave now."
"Okay, I’m not a child."
