CHAPTER 99: CHAPTER 99: DID YOU FALL ASLEEP INSIDE?

Gu Qimiao quickly picked up the towel beside her and sat up from the bathtub.

By the frosted glass, she saw a dark shadow, slowly approaching with soft footsteps.

Could it be a thief? Did she lock the door just now?

Gu Qimiao didn’t dare to move, deeply afraid that the sound of splashing water would be heard by the person outside the door.

The shadow stood by the door for barely a second and then walked away. Gu Qimiao carefully stood up from the water and wrapped the towel around herself.

"Knock knock——" The shadow returned to the door, scaring Gu Qimiao so much that she didn’t dare to take a breath.

Suddenly, she remembered that the bathroom light was on, so they definitely knew she was inside!

"Who is it?"

"Did you fall asleep in there?"

The familiar voice turned all Gu Qimiao’s worries into delight. She hastily opened the bathroom door while clutching the towel, "Brother Yan Chen!"

He stood in front of her looking travel-worn, with a trace of fatigue, but his eyes were still sharp as ever. He looked her up and down and then pointed to the suitcase behind him, asking, "Are you going out?"

Gu Qimiao nodded and said, "Yes, I want to go to Chenggu to capture some scenery."

"Tomorrow?"

She nodded again.

Shen Yanchen lowered his eyes to look at the luggage, a thoughtful expression on his face, and then asked, "Alone?"

"Yes."

"Then let’s go together. I happen to have a project over there."

Gu Qimiao was so caught off guard by the sudden happiness that she didn’t know how to react. She simply hid her excitement and nodded, "Okay."

"Did you book your ticket? Cancel it if you did, I’ll book it for you." With that, he turned and walked out the door, "Go put on some clothes, don’t catch a cold."

"Okay!"

Lying in bed, all she could think about was how she was going to travel with him, and she figured she wouldn’t be able to sleep until late into the night.

Shen Yanchen took all the clothes out of the suitcase and replaced them with clean ones from the wardrobe. Then he called He Ye: "Postpone all my schedules for the next week."

"What?! Brother Yan Chen, you must be kidding me!"

"Assign two or three assistants, and book the tickets for Chenggu for tomorrow morning." After a pause, he added, "Including Gu Qimiao’s."

When He Ye protested loudly on the other end, he hung up the phone.

Early the next morning, Gu Qimiao got up, thinking she was early, but when she went downstairs, Shen Yanchen had already made breakfast.

Having him at home was so different than being alone. She never ate breakfast by herself, let alone took the time to make it.

After breakfast, a car came to pick them up downstairs. It was only then that Gu Qimiao realized that they weren’t going alone.

But Shen Yanchen did say he was going there for a project, so it was normal to bring three or four assistants.

After a flight of over three hours, they arrived in Chenggu. Shen Yanchen said they still had some distance to go before reaching the small town.

Gu Qimiao said, "Then where are you doing your project? I can go to the small town by myself. You carry on with your work."

"Wait."

Gu Qimiao watched as he walked over to his assistants and gave them some instructions.

"Mr. Shen, what project do we have here? We haven’t prepared anything."

"Just stay here. The hotel is booked, and I’ll cover all expenses. Assign someone to take the luggage back to the hotel. I’ll contact you when it’s time to leave."

Gu Qimiao saw the assistants looked delighted but didn’t know what he had told them.

He walked over, took the drawing board she was carrying, and said, "Let’s go."

"Huh? You’re coming too?"

He walked ahead, "Yes, I have something to do over there."
