Don: The Blood Chains
Chapter 53: Genius.
CHAPTER 53: GENIUS.
"Was this enough?" Pablo asked as they were going down on the stairs. "I mean, I thought we would like, threaten her more or something."
"We don’t need to, because she is too fragile with all of this now." Joseph said as they were now in the waiting area of the hospital and stopped for a bit. "It’s kinda strange to me that she could become a special agent, when her emotions affect her this much."
"Maybe that too was just an act. She is still a special agent. They were trained to be manipulative and put on acts." Pablo said, and it was true, like even him back at the DAG was trained to manipulate and put on acts to be sure to do his job the most effective way.
And the DSA is an agency whose main profile is doing exactly that, protecting the country with everything they got and even though Olivia truly looked like a broken soul in that room, in Pablo’s mind it could all just be an act to get close to them.
"She actually tried at the end." Joseph said as he looked at Pablo. "She switched in the way she talked, the way she controlled her voice and emotion. She put on that agent act, but before that, when we arrived, she was just a little bunny that couldn’t control her fear and surprise." He explained. "And do not forget the weight on her, she let me out and now it will always be on her heart when people will die. That’s our weapon in our hands. She needs to work with us to ensure we only kill those who deserve it."
As Pablo thought about it more and more, it just made more sense and kinda outlined the whole plan that Joseph had in his mind... and again, it was kinda unbelievable. What he thought about, that this was Joseph’s plan from the beginning... to use her, because it made sense now... the shooting, why he didn’t kill her in the warehouse, and now that they came to her to talk.
She really looked like somebody broken, and now it was the perfect time to push her even more with what they want... and it worked out. Joseph’s plan actually worked out.
"A genius, that’s what you are." Pablo said as he chuckled. "I thought she would want to bust us down."
"Oh, that’s for sure, she will want it." He looked into Pablo’s eyes. "But if we trapped her enough, she couldn’t move against us. And just think about it, Pablo, she gives us a list, we take a photo of her, and that’s it, she’s trapped even more."
"I don’t think so, because the DSA are manipulative fuckers. They can make up anything for it even if we leak it." Pablo argued, and he had a point with it.
DSA is already acting up and making up stories to cover their ass, and if they leak something, they would 100 percent again do the same manipulating and controlling the narrative over it.
"Anyway, we should move... too many people here and cameras." Pablo continued as he looked around.
"Hospitals are the best, you know." Joseph answered as he still just stood beside the wall, looking at the others while speaking to Pablo. "Horribly underpaid nurses working long shifts, doctors and surgeons whose only focus is to not fucking kill someone on accident, and of course, all the civilians here... just look around." He gestured, and Pablo did.
What he saw was... just a hospital waiting area. No, it was more than a waiting area, filled with people who didn’t give a single fuck about them, even though they were in the news. What he saw was the pain, the suffering, and the tiredness on their faces. Some of them were with children who couldn’t behave themselves, and their parents were just stressed and tired. Some of them were old people who were barely even breathing... yeah, every kind of person was just waiting for their turn, while the nurses and doctors were running all around.
Nobody gave a single fuck about them... of course, there were some glances by the tired eyes of some nurses and maybe some people, but nothing more. As he thought about it, even the doctor who let them in to Olivia was a hundred percent recognizing them but didn’t do shit as he just went to another patient.
A place where they are kinda invisible... because everybody else is just in their own world, with their own problems.
"You know what my father did when he needed an urgent meeting about something important?" Joseph asked, still just eyeing the people.
"What?"
"He usually chose two places." He looked at him. "One is a hospital where they treat dying children, because who would give a fuck about them? The most important thing is the children, so they just sat down in the hall and spoke about anything they wanted to."
As he said it, Pablo’s mouth opened a little from the shock and kinda the genius in it."The second one?"
"Funerals. Moreover, memorial services that were held indoors. He just looked up who died, even if he didn’t know who it was, and went with whoever he wanted to talk to." He chuckled a bit. "Of course, it was only at the beginning of his career. When he got big, he didn’t give a fuck about it anymore and just talked on the phone."
Yeah, he was truly a genius who knew how to deal with the police and how to avoid them. The upshot was, Pablo had a question in his mind. Joseph said he hated them, but he knew many things about what his father did and how he did it.
"But how do you know about it?"
Joseph smiled as he looked at him. "I was a child, and well, to a children’s hospital I was a perfect cover, wasn’t I?"
"Fuck, your father was a truly genius motherfucker, Joseph." Pablo laughed too, as he realized his father was fucking using Joseph even when he was a child... which was actually sad to think about... like he was nothing but a tool in his hand.
"That fucker used me without me even knowing it, though with that I learned some tricks." He said as he took a step forward. "But it’s time to go home."
"Yeah, it is... though we didn’t ask her about Vincente or the family." Pablo said as they walked toward the exit.
"I bet they already started killing each other, Pablo. So our first move will be to just sit back, relax for a bit, and see how they exactly move... and rely on Olivia’s information." He said as the door opened for them.
As they walked out, there came a moment of surprise or maybe it was fate too... or just maybe Joseph was exactly waiting for this. Because toward them walked none other than Julian himself, the director of the DSA, and it was like a standoff moment as they just stopped, and stared at each other.
