Don't Fall For Me, CEO
Chapter 128: A Fresh New Look
CHAPTER 128: CHAPTER 128: A FRESH NEW LOOK
"Why call her back? On a happy day, seeing her is such a buzzkill."
Sue Chase instantly lost her smile, clearly showing she didn’t like July Quinn.
Though Henry Ford didn’t say anything, his expression darkened noticeably.
Charles Quinn seemed awkward, and Amanda Ford quickly tried to mediate: "No matter what, July is still a part of this family. We’re having a family reunion, so naturally she should be included."
Charles Quinn immediately had a smile again.
Although Amanda Ford didn’t have a good background, her intelligence compensated, especially in the way she handled certain situations with generosity.
This was the reason Charles Quinn married her.
But Amanda Ford’s parents were different; they were full of the petty local temperament.
See, even when Amanda Ford said this, Sue Chase still coldly rejected: "How is she a part of this family? You know full well she..."
"Mom!" Amanda Ford immediately interrupted her before Sue Chase could finish, quickly implying something.
Sue Chase glanced at Charles Quinn, saw his face was very grim, and then held back.
The atmosphere suddenly felt a bit delicate; Nina Quinn felt as if they were playing a guessing game.
"Mom, it’s settled then. Later on, Quinn will contact July."
Amanda Ford arranged, then instructed Nina Quinn: "Nina, take your grandparents to the guest room upstairs to rest."
Nina Quinn followed Amanda Ford’s request and took Henry Ford and Sue Chase to the guest room upstairs.
Usually, she didn’t like to stay with her poor-looking grandparents, and would use the excuse of having schoolwork or something to retreat to her own room.
But today, Nina Quinn stayed behind and even obediently helped Henry Ford and Sue Chase unpack their luggage.
"Our Nina has truly grown up."
Henry Ford couldn’t help praising.
Sue Chase quickly rummaged through her luggage and took out some pastries.
"Nina, stop fussing. These, Grandma will organize later herself. Come and try the osmanthus cake Grandma made for you."
She had personally made these osmanthus cakes and brought them to Nina Quinn after several hours on the train.
It could be said that they contained not just her craft but also her deep love for Nina Quinn.
Sadly, Nina Quinn didn’t like these dirty-looking pastries and seemed uninterested.
Until Sue Chase forced a piece into her hand, she reluctantly took a bite.
"Is it good?" Sue Chase asked eagerly.
Nina Quinn could only nod weakly.
"Grandma, why do you and Grandpa seem not to like July?"
After swallowing the cake that made her feel nauseous, Nina Quinn suddenly asked.
Indeed, she stayed today with difficulty just to ask Sue Chase and Henry Ford this question.
When she had contact with Henry Ford and Sue Chase before, she was quite young, so she only vaguely felt they didn’t really like July Quinn.
But today, she truly felt the strong dislike these two elders had for July Quinn.
And listening to their conversation with Amanda Ford earlier, it seemed there was another hidden reason for their dislike of July Quinn.
"It’s not because..."
Sue Chase was about to blurt out.
But just then, Amanda Ford pushed the door open and entered.
"Mom, are you and Dad adjusting well?"
Sue Chase stopped her sentence midway.
Nina Quinn’s plan to extract answers from Sue Chase was also abruptly interrupted.
However, she secretly vowed to uncover this secret.
Because her intuition told her it would help in dealing with July Quinn.
*
Early in the morning, Kyle Keaton encountered July Quinn wearing a mustard green spaghetti strap dress, busy at the coffee machine.
Her fair skin, against the mustard green, seemed to almost glow.
Not to mention, she had applied a slight makeup today.
Simultaneously delicate and sexy, refined yet alluring, every expression and movement was captivating!
Even Kyle Keaton, who was used to seeing beauties, couldn’t help but be struck by the scene.
When he came to himself, he was already in front of July Quinn, his long arms encircling her slender waist, trapping her between the bar and his chest.
"What are you doing dressed so lightly this early in the morning? Tempting someone to crime?"
He was poised to finish what hadn’t been completed last night.
