CHAPTER 32: CHAPTER 32: WHAT IF I QUIT?

"Nathan Jacobs, have you had enough of this?"

Miles Jacobs almost wanted to slap Nathan in front of everyone to wake him up.

But with so many people in the conference room, Miles knew that if he really did that, it would invite more gossip and make people even more suspicious of his intentions.

Nathan was well aware of this too, which is why he dared to resist stubbornly.

"Mr. Jacobs, I’m not making a fuss, I’m just stating the facts."

He then turned to Kyle Keaton, adopting a confrontational stance.

"Assistant Keaton has been coming late and leaving early these past two days, clearly having no intention to work. If he doesn’t make a statement, I’m afraid it won’t convince the masses. Moreover, if other project participants start to imitate this behavior and disregard the project and its management, then the entire project will be nothing but a mess, and it would be a wonder if the Caelan Bay project succeeds!"

Nathan pressed Kyle to make a statement from the perspective of company management and project success, believing that in this aspect, Miles couldn’t shield Kyle, nor could he attack Nathan.

Indeed, after he finished speaking, Miles remained silent, even though his face showed annoyance.

"Do you really want me to make a statement that much?"

Under Nathan’s persistent pressure, Kyle, who had remained silent like an outsider, finally spoke up.

Even his uncle, the president of The Jacobs Group and a significant figure in Westmarch, showed an incomprehensible fear and anxiety at this moment.

Before Miles could stop him, Kyle calmly suggested, "Then how about I withdraw from the Caelan Sea project?"

As soon as he said this, the expressions of others in the conference room changed.

Nathan immediately frowned.

Honestly, he hadn’t expected this assistant to casually mention withdrawing.

One must understand, the Caelan Sea project involves billions in funds.

If successful, the profits alone would surpass a decade’s salary for them.

Everyone involved in this project was carefully selected by the company.

And those who entered this project are typically extremely cautious, afraid of making even the slightest mistake that could lead to their exclusion.

Even Nathan himself was fully committed to this project for the substantial rewards.

Yet somehow, Assistant Keaton said the word "withdraw" so nonchalantly, as if the huge reward held no value to him.

While it seemed strange, Nathan thought Assistant Keaton was probably just putting on a show.

If the huge reward truly meant nothing to him, then he shouldn’t have joined the project.

So Nathan decisively decided, "Fine. From now on, you have nothing to do with this project."

But as soon as he finished, Kyle immediately stood up and headed toward the door.

Miles was frantic, hastily stepping forward to block him.

"Kyle... Assistant Keaton, please don’t bother with this fool. I’ll have him apologize to you right now."

Kyle didn’t even spare him a glance.

Miles was overwhelmed with anxiety.

If the key stakeholder were to exit the project, would the project even exist?

Yet Nathan stepped forward to argue, "Uncle, The Jacobs Group has both technology and funds. Are we worried about not finding talent?"

Despite the dismissive attitude of such an assistant, his uncle seemed to treat him as a treasure, cajoling and trying to keep him.

Even if he really was talented, such arrogance was over the top.

What Nathan didn’t expect was for Miles to harshly shove him aside.

"Assistant Keaton, this brat was spoiled by his ignorant parents. I assure you, I will discipline him strictly. Please don’t stoop to his level..."

Miles apologized profusely, leaving the senior management in the conference room dumbfounded.

After all, they had never seen the president speak so much to anyone, and especially not in such a humble and respectful tone.

Finally, Miles seriously added, "The Caelan Sea project needs you, and The Jacobs Group also needs you."

Perhaps moved by Miles’ humble attitude, Kyle finally changed his mind.

"It’s not impossible for me to stay..."
