Doted By The Regent King
Chapter 640: 639
Chapter 640: 639
Lady Li, watching Wufu and Jadeite exchange glances, couldn’t help but become anxious. If they truly knew the Ghost Doctor, there might be hope for Young Master Duan’s condition.
“Miss, if you really know the Ghost Doctor, please introduce us. Whatever you want, I can do it for you, and I won’t ask for money,” Lady Li implored, her eyes fixed on Wufu.
Those eyes were as fervent as the sun in the sky.
Wufu said, “Well, I do know him, but we are not close, and I don’t know where he is now.”
“Miss,” Lady Li clenched her teeth and suddenly knelt down, pleading, “If you can bring the Ghost Doctor to treat my husband, my spouse and I will do whatever you ask of us.”
Wufu’s gaze flickered for a moment.
“Bai Xiaobai, where is he now?” Wufu turned to Jadeite.
Jadeite shook her head and said, “Miss, only my master knows where he is.”
Wufu then looked back at Lady Li, “Since you’ve also been looking for the Ghost Doctor, you should know that he appears and disappears unpredictably. I truly don’t know where he is!”
“Miss!” Lady Li felt this was just an excuse. Biting her lip, she said, “Do you perhaps think our sincerity is lacking?”
Duan Rong, however, sensed something else and stepped forward to pull Lady Li up, saying, “Wife, let it go. Life and death are destined, and I’ve grown accustomed to it.”
But Lady Li shrugged off his hand, stood up, and said to Wufu, “Miss, would you please come with me?”
“Madam!” Duan Rong exclaimed, standing in front of her and shaking his head.
“Young Master Duan, if you were to die, what meaning would my life have? What’s the use of keeping the things we both know about? We don’t have any children to pass them on to. Who would benefit?” Lady Li looked at him tenderly, her eyes filled with deep love, “Young Master Duan, we pledged to grow old together. You promised me. I won’t let you break that promise.”
“Shuangshuang,” Duan Rong closed his eyes and his shoulders slumped in defeat.
Lady Li’s eyes held a look of determination as she said, “Miss, please follow me.”
Wufu and Jadeite exchanged glances and followed Lady Li and Duan Rong into an inner hall, coming to a room that appeared to be a cluttered storeroom. Lady Li pressed down on a spot, and a rumbling sound akin to wheels turning was heard as a section of the wall opened up.
Lady Li led the way inside and lit a lamp. Wufu followed and stood in the room which held more than met the eye, momentarily stunned by what she saw.
So many weapons, so many peculiar tools.
Jadeite, too, was wide-eyed as she picked up a knife with an ornate and beautiful handle and sheath. She unsheathed it, a flash of cold light passing by. After closing and reopening her eyes, she excitedly said, “Miss, this is the legendary Mandu.”
The legendary cold weapon, Mandu, was attractive in appearance, offering a sense of classic elegance, but the blade was irregular, with a wavy contour. The knife itself was not flashy, but one shouldn’t underestimate this unremarkable-looking knife. Its purpose was chilling and could provoke an involuntary shudder—a single swipe at a person’s neck for skinning, then decapitating, brutally and bloodily.
Wufu took the knife, almost envisioning a flash of blood, its blade thin as a cicada’s wing, capable of flaying a person’s skin completely.
“This is, a Mechanical Crossbow?” Jadeite’s voice sounded again.
Wufu looked over to see a delicate mechanical crossbow placed in a corner and turned her gaze toward the couple.
She didn’t need to be told that such an item could only be made by the imperial court’s weapon smiths. Yet, here they were, a mere Blacksmith Shop harboring such items, and all the other weapons were equally exquisite.
“Who are you?”
