CHAPTER 787: CHAPTER 786 LIKE MINDS
Ah Jiu and Jin Yu reached a consensus, and the details of what came next were naturally left to their subordinates to follow up on. However, Ah Jiu wasn’t available to roam around with Wufu everywhere because she needed to investigate the details of the Tenth Prince in Nanyang Prefecture. Nonetheless, Wufu wasn’t without company, as they had newly added the great talent, Yan Er, to their group.
While Ah Jiu and her team were busy compiling and analyzing information, Wufu and Yan Er were hopping around Nanyang Prefecture, walking here and there while eating and drinking to their hearts’ content.
Wufu’s personality was straightforward and crisp, unlike the shy and rigid demeanor of typical girls in seclusion. Yan Er, having wandered the north, was free-spirited and unrestrained. The two got along as if they were cut from the same cloth, and even felt a sense of regret at not having met sooner.
What pleased Yan Er most was that no matter what he said, Wufu could always keep up with the conversation. Her knowledge was far beyond what her age would suggest, and sometimes the things she talked about were unfathomable to him, which piqued his curiosity and amazement.
Yan Er loved novel things and was a bit single-minded; he enjoyed digging to the root of matters. Once he heard something he was unfamiliar with, he wouldn’t stop asking about it until he was satisfied.
Just like now, Wufu somewhat regretted showing off too much, as this great talent buzzed around her incessantly like a fly—truly as if possessed by the spirit of Tang Seng!
"Stop! Great talent, can’t you just listen and leave it at that? Must you ask so thoroughly?" Wufu asked while rubbing her temple.
Yan Er looked at her with disdain and said, "Don’t you know what’s meant by ’shamelessness in asking beneath oneself’? It’s commendable to ask when you don’t understand something."
So annoying!
Wufu muttered to herself and then said, "I already told you, I saw it in a book. How would I know so much?"
"Which book?" Yan Er narrowed his eyes and said, "I, Yan Er, have been reading since I was two years old, and all the books I’ve passed through are up here," he tapped his head, "like a grand library."
A muscle twitched at the corner of Wufu’s mouth, "So, you’re just showing off how much you’ve read?"
"Not at all! It’s to tell you that I’ve certainly read more than you, so don’t think you can fool me! Speak, which book was it?"
"A book from outer space," Wufu said offhandedly and continued, "Besides, you’re correct that you’ve read many books, but in this vast world, can you dare say you’ve read them all? Who knows if there might be some books hidden somewhere that you’ve never encountered?"
Yan Er frowned, wanting to argue.
"Also, has no one ever told you that being too obsessive can be unhealthy for the mind? Enough! Stop asking about the giant birds that can fly in the sky. Let’s rest over there," Wufu pointed to a tea pavilion by the side of the road ahead.
Without waiting for Yan Er to respond, she headed there first, exhausted.
Seeing this, Yan Er had no choice but to follow.
Once seated, a tea master approached to greet them, serving a pot of tea and two plates of snacks, as Wufu surveyed the surrounding scenery.
They hadn’t spent the day in the city but had come to the outskirts, near a City God Temple.
This road was the one leading to the City God Temple and aside from this tea shop, there were also two or three eateries nearby.
On both sides of the road lay vast farmlands; it was the peak of spring farming, and the peasants were out tending to their crops. Some patchily-dressed children were running around the fields, emitting bursts of laughter.
Although the Tenth Prince wasn’t anything special, the people in this area seemed to be living and working in peace and contentment, as could be seen from the smiles of those children and peasants.
