CHAPTER 793: CHAPTER 792 WUFU’S WORRIES
The sea is not like the rivers on land; its power is greater and more unpredictable. Some people can adapt to traveling by boat on rivers, but the sea is a different matter. Waves can toss the boat like a roller coaster, leaving those on board feeling so nauseous they wish they were dead.
Jin Lan had just recovered from an illness, and now she was about to take a voyage by sea. The idea of her sailing was something I strongly advised against.
"Don’t worry, Bai Xiaobai has already prepared many remedies for seasickness," Ah Jiu reassured.
Wufu sighed, "Well. If you’ve already decided, what can I change?"
Ah Jiu opened her mouth.
This change of route was decided only in the past few days. Their recent altercation at Gobi Beach had attracted attention from various quarters. Some fools, not knowing any better, had set up checkpoints along the way, hoping to confront them. That was why they had to change their course.
"If we must take to the sea, I suggest we bring along more sailors who are used to the sea. They sail year-round and have plenty of experience. In case something happens, they’ll be able to handle it," Wufu thought for a moment, then added, "We should also prepare more life-saving equipment, like lifeboats and the like."
Ah Jiu furrowed her brow, seeing Wufu a bit anxious. She let her sleeves fall and pinched her hand from beneath them, saying, "All this has been prepared already. Don’t worry. Even the guards have been topped up. I wouldn’t joke about our safety."
Yan Er deliberately ignored Ah Jiu’s gesture, turning to Wufu to ask, "You seem quite knowledgeable. Have you traveled by sea before?" If she hadn’t experienced it, how would she know all this? How old was she really?
"I, naturally..." Wufu began to say, then countered, "Haven’t you just returned from a foreign land? You must have rich experience. What haven’t you encountered at sea?"
Yan Er was taken aback, thought for a moment, then replied, "Nothing much encountered, but I’ve weathered a few storms. Nothing too serious, though."
"Lucky you!"
Yan Er scoffed, "I’m blessed by the Lucky God that’s always with me!"
"Look at you, so confident. Let’s hope the unlucky spirits aren’t following you this time!" Wufu didn’t want to argue with him any longer, turning to ask Ah Jiu, "How much longer until we leave the ship?"
Ah Jiu looked toward Yuan Ye, who took out his pocket watch and glanced at it, "Less than two Shichen Chinese Time."
Wufu then said, "I’ll be right back, I need to buy some things." With that, she picked two maids and pointed out two guards, and quickly headed into the city.
Yan Er was curious as to what had suddenly possessed the girl and followed, "Wait for me."
Ah Jiu watched as they walked away rapidly, then glanced at the tower ship and said, "Have the people below check the ship again. It doesn’t matter if we set off later, it’s most important that the ship is sturdy."
Wufu’s obvious concern meant that he had to take it seriously.
"Make sure the spare ships in the hold are also checked," Ah Jiu added.
Yuan Ye was momentarily startled, then asked tentatively, "Does the Master feel that the young lady’s words..."
"Wufu never speaks idly. She’s showing such caution, so it’s not wrong for us to be extra cautious. Moreover, she said something true: the sea is not like the land. We could swim out of rivers, but the great ocean is boundless. If something happened... where could we swim to?"
"Master, we could follow the original route," Yuan Ye suggested after listening.
Ah Jiu replied, "No need, we’ve already drawn attention. Let’s keep a low profile."
"Understood."
Yuan Ye went down to make arrangements, while Ah Jiu stood on the shore, observing the people bustling about on the tower ship and furrowing then relaxing his brows.
He didn’t know whether his decision was right or wrong, hoping that everything would go as smoothly as he envisioned.
