CHAPTER 1082: A PLACE AMONG DRAGONS

He had met the Ink Tyrant Dragon Knight many times and knew him well. Though Luo Lan was known for his calm temperament, he rarely praised others. Yet today, he spoke of Lan Xuanyu with such high regard.

To hear the phrase “a place among the Dragon Knights” from the mouth of a Dragon Knight was no casual remark — it meant that Lan truly had the potential to one day join their ranks.

Luo Lan turned his gaze toward Lan Xuanyu, regarding her with genuine interest.

“So your name is Lan?”

“Yes, Dragon Knight Lord,” Lan Xuanyu replied, bowing slightly in respect.

“You’re remarkable,” Luo Lan said evenly. “When your bloodline evolved, what did you feel?”

Lan Xuanyu’s heart skipped a beat. He knew the Ink Tyrant Dragon Knight’s test was not yet over — or rather, that Luo Lan was deeply curious about his abilities and wished to learn more from him.

Lan Xuanyu paused, adopting a thoughtful look before replying slowly, “Pain. Excruciating pain — as though my whole body were being torn apart. It felt like every inch of my flesh was cracking open. My body… it was as if it would shatter at any moment.”

As he spoke, a trace of genuine fear flickered in his eyes, and his body even trembled slightly. These were no mere theatrics — it was all true. He vividly remembered that agony from when his bloodline had broken through.

“After that,” he continued, “my consciousness became blurred. I thought I might have died… and when I finally woke up, I had become what I am now.”

Luo Lan’s voice was mild. “What you are now — you mean human form or dragon form?”

Lan Xuanyu didn’t hesitate. “Human form. But my body was covered in golden scales.”

A glint of realization flickered in Luo Lan’s eyes. “Ah, that fits. Yes, that must be it. She has undergone the most complete form of dragon bloodline awakening. I never imagined I’d encounter another of this kind. It seems I’m fortunate indeed. Her future will be limitless.”

Huang Daoqi, puzzled, couldn’t help asking, “Lord Luo Lan, what do you mean by ‘the most complete form of dragon bloodline awakening’?”

Luo Lan smiled faintly. “It means her original bloodline was already extremely close to that of the true dragon race. During her Dragonification, her own bloodline was nearly entirely replaced by True Dragon blood — as if her very body was remade. Only her consciousness remained unchanged.

“In the end, she became what she is now. Her bloodline is pure and powerful — something that has appeared only once before, in my elder brother.

To find a second such case… that’s truly my good fortune. Her identity is beyond doubt.”

At those words, both Lan Xuanyu and Bai Xiuxiu quietly breathed a sigh of relief.

The claim about awakening in human form was one Lan Xuanyu and the Treasure Seeking Beast had carefully devised together.

Lan Xuanyu himself didn’t know much about the true dragons of old, but the Treasure Seeking Beast certainly did — it had once served the Dragon God personally. ṙ𝐚ΝȪʙĘŚ

It had explained that when a dragon’s power reached a certain level, it could naturally assume a human form. Its scales would then gradually fade away.

This was a transformation linked to the nature of divine energy — and if the dragons here were indeed influenced by remnants of the Dragon God’s divine essence, then the same phenomenon would occur.

Following that reasoning, Lan Xuanyu’s fabricated explanation happened to align perfectly with Luo Lan’s knowledge — and thus, by sheer luck, he had passed the test.

Luo Lan believed him completely.

If Lan Xuanyu had not truly undergone such a transformation, it would have been impossible for him to describe those sensations so precisely.

Huang Daoqi was overjoyed. “Lord Luo Lan, Lan has already joined our family and received the Dragon Force baptism. About her future…”

Luo Lan gave him a knowing smile. “What? Are you worried I’ll try to steal her from you?”

He chuckled softly. “Don’t worry. Even if I were to claim her, now is not the time.

They both still have a long road ahead of them. Perhaps your luck, Daoqi, will change the fate of your entire Huang Family.”

Huang Daoqi quickly bowed. “Please instruct me, my lord.”

Luo Lan said, “Both of them are worth cultivating — and they’re sisters, which makes them a natural pair. The weaker one still holds great potential.

“In the future, let Lan take the lead and Xiuxiu assist her. Together, they may accomplish something extraordinary. Their ultimate heights will depend on their own effort.”

Huang Daoqi immediately stood and turned to the two. “Quickly, thank Lord Luo Lan for his guidance!”

Lan Xuanyu and Bai Xiuxiu bowed deeply again. Their emotions were complicated.

Back when they first learned of the Dragon Knights’ existence, Lan Xuanyu had jokingly told Bai Xiuxiu he would make her his mount someday.

And now, Luo Lan’s words had just made that very arrangement sound… official.

If not for the tense circumstances, Bai Xiuxiu would have rolled her eyes at him on the spot.

A prophecy came true.

Luo Lan continued, “They may now begin learning the Dragon Knight cultivation method. Let them start training immediately.

“Three months from now, they are to participate in the Rising Dragon Competition. We’ll see how far they can go.

It’s an excellent opportunity for them to test themselves and become acquainted with other dragons of the same race.

“Thank you, Lord Luo Lan!” Huang Daoqi bowed deeply again, unable to hide his joy.

Luo Lan nodded. “Good. I’ll take my leave—there are still matters requiring my attention.

When the Rising Dragon Competition begins, if they make it to the finals, we shall meet again.”

As his words fell, a deep emerald glow flared around him.

A long, distant dragon’s roar echoed through the air — and in the next instant, Luo Lan was gone, leaving behind only a fading shimmer.

Only when the last trace of that dragon’s cry disappeared did Lan Xuanyu and Bai Xiuxiu finally exhale in relief.

Throughout the encounter, Luo Lan had never once released an oppressive aura, yet the pressure he radiated was immense.

The Ink Tyrant Dragon Knight gave off the feeling of a bottomless void — a black hole that devoured not external energy, but himself.

He had hidden all of his power inwardly, leaving no hint of his true strength.

That — that was the mark of a true master.

Huang Daoqi remained bowed toward the direction Luo Lan had vanished until the final echo of the dragon’s roar faded.

Then he straightened and turned toward the pair, laughing heartily. “I never imagined Lord Luo Lan would recognize you two so highly. Congratulations!”

“Thank you, Clan Leader.”

“Thank you, Father.”

Lan Xuanyu and Bai Xiuxiu, clever as ever, each addressed him according to their assigned roles.

Huang Daoqi looked toward Huang Yuanlang, whose expression carried a hint of disappointment.

“Yuanlang, step outside for now. I need to speak privately with Lan and Xiuxiu.”

“Yes, Father.”

When the young man had gone, Huang Daoqi gestured for them to sit. “Come, have a seat. Let’s talk.”

As they sat beside him, both Lan Xuanyu and Bai Xiuxiu could feel the shift in his attitude.

Before, he had treated them as valued juniors.

Now, his tone was that of an equal.

Undoubtedly, this encounter had elevated their status in Fenglong City even further — granting them both greater safety and influence.

The arrival of the Ink Tyrant Dragon Knight had been an immense trial,

but having passed it, that very ordeal had become their greatest blessing.

For the first time, they truly had… a place among the dragons.
