Chapter 1084: Bloodline Ignition
TL: GoldenLung
Bai Xiuxiu cast a glance at Lan Xuanyu, pursed her lips, and said no more.
Huang Daoqi continued, “The Dragonforce Tempering stage, though the foundation, is also the most difficult among the three stages of Dragon Knight cultivation. Tempering requires flame—and the flame we use comes from burning our very bloodline.”
“Burning the bloodline?” Lan Xuanyu was startled. “Wouldn’t that kill you?”
“Under normal circumstances, yes,” Huang Daoqi replied with a faint smile. “But while cultivating within the Dragonforce Hall, there’s no need to worry. When the bloodline burns, it boils with vitality, releasing the purest, most powerful essence of our draconic heritage. That force tempers our bodies, forging us into stronger beings. The process, however, is extremely perilous—too much tempering brings severe injury or even death, while too little yields slow progress. That’s why this stage is the hardest to pass. For every Dragonborn, Dragonforce Tempering is life’s most crucial ordeal. Even the Dragon Knights themselves, to this day, continue this same method—constantly burning their bloodline to refine their bodies, hardening themselves from the outside in, ascending ever further in strength.”
Lan Xuanyu frowned slightly. From the outside in? All his life, his cultivation through the Mysterious Heaven Technique had been from the inside out—first nurturing soul power, then using it to strengthen the body.
But the Dragon Knights’ path was reversed?
“Father,” Bai Xiuxiu asked, voicing both their doubts, “if one trains from the outside in, won’t the internal organs be unable to withstand it?”
“That,” Huang Daoqi nodded, “is the key issue of tempering. But the Dragonforce Hall grants us three distinct advantages.
First, it channels the Dragonforce for our absorption.
Second—and this is the most important—it can extinguish the bloodline flames at any moment, halting the tempering instantly. In other words, if your body cannot bear the burning of your bloodline, you can stop immediately, avoiding permanent harm.
Third, the Hall can direct Dragonforce to shield your organs. When your outer body grows strong enough, that strength will drive your internal evolution, transforming you from the outside in.”
Hearing his words, both Lan Xuanyu and Bai Xiuxiu were astonished. Such a method was unlike anything in the human world.
Among humans, no cultivator would dare ignite their bloodline. Burning bloodline was tantamount to burning life itself—yielding great power for a fleeting moment, only to bring certain death once the essence was consumed.
Yet here on the Celestial Dragon Planet, the Dragon Knights had made that suicidal act the cornerstone of cultivation.
After a brief contemplation, Lan Xuanyu understood the principle behind it. The Celestial Dragon Planet differed from the Douluo Star in one essential way—it was saturated with immense life energy. After bloodline ignition and tempering, replenishing that energy was crucial; the higher the vitality’s quality, the better. Such abundance was impossible on Douluo, but here it was plentiful.
And then there was the Dragonforce Huang Daoqi spoke of—pure bloodline energy. Every Dragonborn, regardless of attribute, could absorb it to replenish and temper their own essence, burning and mending simultaneously. Hence this miraculous cultivation path was possible.
Astonishing—truly astonishing. Lan Xuanyu could not help wondering whether a similar method could be adapted for humans.
Huang Daoqi went on, “Next, I’ll teach you the basic technique for Dragonforce Tempering. When you first attempt it, be careful. Never rush or grow greedy for progress. It’s better to go slowly and end early than to suffer severe injury—wounds from bloodline ignition are the hardest to heal.”
He then began explaining the cultivation method of the Dragon Knights’ Dragonforce Tempering, and how to properly operate within the Dragonforce Hall.
The technique itself wasn’t complex—the key lay in the Hall. Without it, the training could not even begin.
Huang Daoqi advised them to cultivate within the Dragonforce Hall once, then rest for seven days before repeating. During that time, no one from the family would disturb them.
“You may begin today,” he said finally, producing a small box that shimmered faintly red. “But before you start, eat this.”
It was a jade box, pulsing with soft crimson light—alive, almost breathing.
“What is it?” Bai Xiuxiu asked curiously.
Huang Daoqi smiled. “You asked earlier what would protect your organs during training—this will.”
He opened the box, revealing two glowing fruits.
Only then did they realize that the light was not from the box but from the fruits themselves—two crimson, oval gems the size of fists, translucent and gleaming. Beneath their glossy skins, liquid seemed to flow; faint waves of warmth emanated from them, strangely vital and potent.
“What treasures!” a voice echoed in Lan Xuanyu’s mind—it was the Treasure Seeking Beast, practically trembling with excitement. “Master, those are Dragon Soul Fruits! Even in the Divine Realm, they were considered precious, though extremely rare. These ones may lack divine essence, but they’re genuine Dragon Soul Fruits nonetheless. Don’t stand on ceremony—eat them, quickly!”
With Huang Daoqi present, this wasn’t the time for questions. Lan Xuanyu swiftly accepted the fruits, handing one to Bai Xiuxiu and keeping the other for himself.
“Just eat it directly,” Huang Daoqi instructed.
Lan Xuanyu didn’t hesitate. The moment he bit down, a rush of tangy, slightly spicy juice slid down his throat. At once, his blood seemed to boil; even his spiritual sea blazed with light as his bloodline vortex spun madly, far surpassing the intensity of his last cultivation in the Hall.
Seeing him, Bai Xiuxiu followed suit, taking a bite. Her face instantly flushed rose-red.
Lan Xuanyu ignored the turbulence within him and, in a few swift bites, devoured the entire Dragon Soul Fruit.
