CHAPTER 252: EXPLANATION

Gao Ling immediately looked towards the other part of the cliff and saw very few disciples of Crimson Flame Palace. Her frown deepened, "Did you guys fight with Crimson Flame Palace?"

If the inheritance required some battle like this then she wouldn’t be surprised, but what kind of inheritance had such appeal that about so many disciples died for it?

The disciple who had spoken shook his head, "N-no"

"Stop stuttering " ,Gao Ling didn’t like his hesitation.

The disciple paled hearing that. He steeled himself, "They were killed in the main trial by an unknown cultivator who can control a saber with his spiritual sense and has a range of more than two hundred metres"

Gao Ling got shocked. It was an impossible feat so she looked at the others, "Is it the truth?" She knew that the disciple wouldn’t have the guts to lie to her but she still confirmed.

All the disciples nodded and looking at their nods she fell into a dilemma. If it really was the truth then what kind of monster was that who killed them.

Even if the spirit-qi density allowed all of them to break through to the Soul Sea Realm on the same day, they still wouldn’t have had the chance to refine a soul-bound weapon, much less reach two hundred metres in range which was only possible for a Nascent Soul Realm cultivator, "So no one had seen him or her?"

All the disciples shook their heads.

Gao Ling nodded. She looked at Lian Zhi and Pei Lingxi due to their cultivation realm and then she looked at Lin Hao and sighed. At least he was safe, "Let’s go to the sect. We will talk there. Come with me Lin Hao"

Lin Feng nodded and flew closer to her before they began flying slowly towards the nearest city where the teleportation array was. The other disciples followed them.

After teleporting they came to Tianping City and made their way towards the sect.

It didn’t take even a minute before they reached the sect. Gao Ling dismissed most of them after a little talking and only kept five of them: Pei Lingxi, Lian Zhi, Lin Hao and one protector and one other disciple who had survived the onslaught and hadn’t climbed the stairs.

She took them directly to the main hall of the sect. When they entered inside it was empty. Gao Ling took the main seat and used her spiritual sense to summon everyone. She didn’t want anyone to delay as she wasn’t in the mood to hear excuses.

When the elders present inside the sect received her summons they immediately left everything they were doing and made their way to the main hall.

They were surprised seeing Lin Hao and the others here. They weren’t aware of the fact that the inheritance site was over and usually there was no need to bring disciples here as gatherings here were used to discuss important matters. So something had definitely happened inside the inheritance site that was serious enough for such a gathering.

Yan Lihua was relieved seeing Lin Hao safe. Now even if the matter was serious it wouldn’t be something they would have to worry about too much.

Lin Feng looked towards all the elders one by one. He had met only a few: Elder Dong, Elder Lan, Elder Yan. As for the others he was meeting them for the first time.

As his eyes met those of one unknown female elder who was wearing very scanty robes, she blinked at him with a shy expression. He acted little flustered and looked away. There was no need to guess which faction leader she was.

There was a young elder sitting near elder Gao Ling and if his guess was correct then he was sect master Ji Zeyuan whom he had heard about.

"Alright since everyone is here it’s time to start. There is bad news. Of all the disciples we had sent inside the inheritance site only eighty one had returned. As for the others they were massacred by an unknown cultivator..." Gao Ling didn’t beat around the bush and stated the loss they had suffered calmly.

Hearing this stunned everyone. They couldn’t quite believe it. If this had been said by someone else they would have asked if they were joking but since it was said by elder Gao they couldn’t question her authenticity.

Yan Lihua was the most shocked. She looked towards Lin Hao and the others, "Explain everything in detail"

She asked Pei Lingxi specifically as she had the highest cultivation realm here and was the most mature among them.

Lin Feng had only one worry right now: how would Pei Lingxi and Lian Zhi explain the masked cultivator whom they had stayed with.

Although no one would think of the masked cultivator as the perpetrator since there was no way they would doubt an early-stage Soul Sea Realm cultivator having that much strength, the elders might still ask for his identity and Pei Lingxi would have to come up with something to convince them why both Lian Zhi and she had been with him.

Pei Lingxi looked towards elder Yan and started narrating everything. She began with her experience in the first ruin. She said that she had met Bai Lian and a masked cultivator with a few other disciples to enter the ruin.

She described how they had been confident in clearing the ruin and in hindsight they had made a crucial mistake which cost the lives of most of them, but in return the beast got wounded so they were able to kill it and a few of them survived.

Bai Lian had felt guilty for surviving on the lives of their disciples so she gave them treasures and the masked cultivator also decided to provide them with a few benefits. It was something that stunned even her, he gave them yang pills.

This statement made the others raise their eyebrows. Yang pills weren’t common, not because of their recipe but because the resources for the pill were almost impossible to find in this world. They didn’t interrupt Pei Lingxi though and kept listening.
