CHAPTER 113: CHAPTER 114 SCRIPT EVENT
And when the security guard at the company gate saw Secretary Caleb personally driving Mabel Quinn away, his mind instantly filled with more speculation.
When the car reached the front of the Morningstar Corporation building, Mabel Quinn checked the time. It was already past 12, almost past lunch time, so she said, "Secretary Caleb, you haven’t had lunch yet, right? How about we have a casual meal together?"
"No need, I’ll just grab something back at the Corporation." Caleb said.
Mabel didn’t insist. After saying goodbye to Caleb, she got out of the car and walked towards a nearby fast food restaurant, planning to have lunch before returning to the Corporation.
Not far away, at the entrance of another restaurant, Lyra Grant and another screenwriter, who usually got along well with her, Mia Crain, just walked out of the restaurant, which led them to see Mabel Quinn getting out of the car.
"Wow, that’s Mabel Quinn. That car is a Bentley, definitely not cheap." Mia Crain said.
It certainly wasn’t cheap. Previously, Soren wanted to buy a car, and Lyra Grant had accompanied him to several car shows and had seen this car too. The market price was at least over 5 million, which wasn’t something an average person could afford.
"How did Mabel Quinn get out of such a luxurious car? She doesn’t look like someone with Money," Mia Crain muttered.
Lyra Grant naturally knew that Mabel Quinn didn’t have Money. She recalled how Soren had once told her about seeing Mabel Quinn getting in a luxury car. Since when did Mabel know wealthy people, and even get picked up by such luxury cars?!
Lyra Grant felt a wave of discomfort. Seeing Mabel Quinn doing well was the last thing she wanted.
In the afternoon, during the screenwriting department meeting, Mabel Quinn also attended. In the meeting room, the chief editor had the assistant distribute photocopies to everyone, "This is the script draft submitted by Lyra Grant a few days ago. I think it’s quite good, so have a look and give any feedback you might have. I’ve only printed the first ten minutes of the script. The rest will be available in the department’s internal mailbox for you to download and review," the chief editor said.
Lyra Grant gave a gentle smile, "My script still has many undeveloped areas, so I hope everyone can provide feedback. Our goal is to make this film the best it can be."
While speaking, Lyra Grant paid close attention to Mabel Quinn’s reaction. Even if Mabel realized that the script was hers, so what? All the evidence in the computer had already been destroyed. Even if Mabel caused a fuss, Lyra was confident she could make it look like Mabel was just trying to stir up trouble, just like before, when everyone thought Mabel was just seeking attention.
As for Lyra only having half of the script, she wasn’t worried. She didn’t think her writing was truly worse than Mabel’s; it was just that her initial approach wasn’t as clever as Mabel’s, so it didn’t catch the chief editor’s eye. Continuing with the rest of the script wouldn’t be a problem for her.
Unexpectedly, the first to voice a concern wasn’t Mabel Quinn, but Lilith.
"This script... isn’t this the one Mabel showed me that she wrote? How did it become Lyra’s?" Lilith’s words immediately drew everyone’s attention in the meeting room.
Lilith noticed her voice was a bit loud, so she immediately felt a bit embarrassed.
