Elder Kinston's Exclusive Sweet Wife
Chapter 180 - 184: The Recognized Couple
CHAPTER 180: CHAPTER 184: THE RECOGNIZED COUPLE
Mabel Quinn understood this well; after all, behind Lyra Grant stood a father who was a chief secretary. Naturally, the school wouldn’t dare to completely offend him, so it found a middle ground.
However, the department head in their faculty was suddenly reassigned. It’s said he was sent to a newly established branch school and was no longer a department head, just a regular logistics employee, a drastic fall in status.
The department head made a scene with the principal for a day, but it was utterly useless, and in the end, he packed up and left for the branch school, tail between his legs.
Mabel Quinn didn’t have a good impression of the department head; he was practically eager for her to drop out. Anyone could see he wasn’t interested in fairness or the truth, but merely wanted her gone.
After the department head was reassigned, she asked Kyle Kinston if it had anything to do with him. Kyle just smiled and said, "A department head? That doesn’t require my intervention." In other words, someone was eager to please him and disassociate from the department head, leading to a reassignment.
Mabel figured this happened to calm the students’ emotions; someone needed to take the fall, and the department head became that scapegoat!
Compared to what concerned Mabel, Kyle Kinston was only interested in the love letter. After Mabel handed him the love letter she had agonized over for two days, Kyle read it and simply said the emotions weren’t deep enough, sending her off to rewrite it, but he still pocketed the letter he dismissed.
Mabel was speechless. Just how deep did the emotions need to be?
Lyra Grant took a few days off to adjust her mood, and finally returned to work. However, her attitude toward Mabel Quinn worsened, and she didn’t even bother to pretend anymore at times.
"Mabel, what’s up with Lyra Grant? It’s like she has a deep-seated grudge against you," Lilith said puzzled. People in the company were unaware of the incidents at school or that Lyra was given a delayed graduation punishment.
"Oh, she was trying to harm others but ended up harming herself, so she’s understandably upset. No need to pay her any mind," Mabel replied.
Lilith thought Mabel was referring to Lyra stealing the script, so she didn’t pursue the matter further.
In the afternoon, Lyra and Mabel happened to meet in the elevator, riding it down together. Lyra stared at Mabel with resentment. If it weren’t for Mabel, how could she have these blemishes on her record?
Her diploma would be delayed by a year, and everyone in the department knew about it. Though it hadn’t spread much in the company yet, those classmates would mostly enter the screenwriting industry post-graduation. Soon, the entire industry and film circle would know of her disgrace.
Reaching the first floor, the elevator doors opened. Mabel stepped out, and Lyra suddenly rushed up, blocking her path. "Mabel Quinn, you must be really proud of yourself now."
Mabel looked at Lyra’s resentful face and found it amusing. It had always been Lyra seeking her out, yet now she was acting as if Mabel had wronged her.
"Whether or not I’m proud seems irrelevant to you, right? Or is Miss Grant planning to frame me again?"
"Do you really think just because you’ve become Kyle Kinston’s girlfriend, you can surely enter a prestigious family like the Kinstons?" Lyra sneered maliciously, "I bet you didn’t know, over in Falling City, Kyle and the Howards Family’s young lady are publicly acknowledged as a couple. Here in J City, you’re just his idle pastime. When he’s summoned back to Falling City, you’ll just be abandoned!"
