CHAPTER 311: CHAPTER 323: APOLOGY

All along, she had looked down on Mabel Quinn, but now, she had to apologize to someone she disdained. The thought of Mabel Quinn’s smug face made her want to turn and leave, but then thinking of her father’s anger, she dared not just walk away like that.

Alessia Quinn stood there, waiting for Mabel Quinn to approach. But who would have thought that Mabel just gave her a casual glance and then proceeded to walk past her.

Alessia quickly shouted, "Mabel Quinn, stop right there."

But Mabel completely ignored her and kept walking. Alessia had to jog a few steps to block Mabel, "I told you to stop, why are you walking away?" she said irritably.

Mabel lifted her gaze slightly and said, "Is there a law that says if you tell me to stop, I have to stop?"

Alessia choked, then said, "Truly people with no upbringing, don’t even know basic manners."

"Then Miss Quinn, you should first consider your own manners, not knowing it’s rude to step on someone else’s dress." Mabel replied.

It was only then Alessia remembered her main task today was to apologize, so she said, "Mabel Quinn, I stepped on your dress that day, it was a moment of carelessness on my part. I’m here today to apologize, can we let this go?" She spoke unwillingly, as if this apology was an enormous grievance for her.

Mabel found it laughable, "Alessia Quinn, what makes you think that just because you say it’s over, it’s actually over?"

"I’ve already apologized, what more do you want?" Alessia said with a face full of displeasure.

"Just because you apologized, does that mean I am required to accept it? Whether or not to apologize is up to you, whether or not to forgive you is up to me. Since Miss Quinn originally said she would compensate for the dress she tore, let’s handle this business formally. I would ask Miss Quinn to remember to pay for the dress." Mabel said.

Alessia was incensed. If it was that easy to just pay up, why would she be here enduring this humiliation!

At this moment, Lilith and a few other colleagues from the script department walked over. Lilith stepped forward and said, "Mabel, what’s going on between you and this lady?"

Seeing people coming over, Alessia suddenly had tears welling up, "Mabel Quinn, I already said the incident that day wasn’t intentional. Do you want me to kneel down and beg for your forgiveness before you’ll forgive me? If you really want me to kneel, just say the word, I’ll oblige."

The colleagues who came over began looking towards Mabel. Someone couldn’t help saying, "Mabel, just forgive this lady."

"Yeah, even if there’s some grievance, no need to really make someone kneel."

"Right? She looks like she’s about to cry, kind of pitiful."

These words were precisely what Alessia wanted. She intended to use moral coercion, to utilize these bystanders to pressure Mabel into submission, to force Mabel to forgive her.

Then she could report back to her father.

Mabel was somewhat surprised by Alessia’s switch of tactics. It seemed Alessia did have some wit, but she had no intention of following Alessia’s script.

"Alessia Quinn, the person whose dress you tore yesterday was me, the one embarrassed was also me. From start to finish, you only said to send the bill of the dress to you and you’d pay for it. Alright, I’ve given you the bill. I, the affected party, haven’t even cried, so why are you crying?" Mabel said leisurely.
